Reviews of Faulkner Street, Modbury

"Neighbourly Yet Private"

Neighbourly Yet Private... Residents prefer to keep completely to themselves unless the need arises to alert another neighbour to an issue in the street such as crime, damage to property or are in need of assistance in some way. I wouldn't say the neighbourly spirit is rude but neighbours don't generally acknowledge each others presence in the street and even getting a simple hello can be too much to ask of many neighbours which is a neighbourhood trait I personally find hard to accept.

Faulkner Street in itself is a relatively quiet street with the exception of drop off and pick up time for Modbury West Primary School children, however cars only increase for a 30-40 minute period and then it is quiet once again. Faulkner and adjoining streets tend to have many dog owners and dog parks are growing in number in the area. Parties are a rare thing but from time to time loud music can be heard with a barking dog of two.

Located in the North Eastern Suburbs of Adelaide Faulkner Street is part of the Tea Tree Gully Council.

Close to Tea Tree Plaza, either a 10-15 minute walk, 2 minute car ride or catching the bus at the end of Faulkner Street on Wright Road, accessability to shops and the Modbury O-Bahn Terminal is made quick and easy for every possible shopping need or a trip into Adelaide itself.

If the size of Tea Trea Plaza is a little too much and something quieter is prefered Clovercrest Shopping Centre, located on the corner of Kelly Road and Montague Road has a Drake Foodland Supermarket, Spotlight Store, Medical Clinic, Australian Post, Newsagent & Hairdresser along with some specialty stores and delightful cafes. Cross over Montague Road and Clovercrest Hotel is the perfect place for lunch or dinner along with a Drive Through. Located next to the Clovercrest Hotel is Stateswim Swimming School which has a great reputation for teaching all ages to swim and how important water safety is.

All facilities are accessable by public transport or within a 20 minute walk. However Ingle Farm Shopping Centre is also within a 10 minute Car ride and accessable by public transport or a slightly longer walk for those that are a little more active.

Parks, playgrounds and natural creek settings are a big part of this area of Adelaide with Modbury being a 10-15 minute drive from surrounding hills and country areas. In recent years the bird life has increased with families of Magpies, Crows and Kookaburras moving back into the area and making their residence in the large Gum trees of nearby parks and creeks. To wake to the sound of Kookaburras is an incredable way to wake up in the morning several times of the year. Occassionally the odd duck can be heard quacking overhead as you stand out the front of your home.

There are a number of schools within the area suiting the needs of most children due to the diversity of public and private schools that have been created right through the Tea Tree Gully Council area. Modbury West is the local Primary School, literally right around the corner with the High School being zoned to Modbury High School or Valley View High School. Childcare is not forgotten with After School Care at the Primary School and a Daycare Centre in the street behind Faulkner Street which is Capulet Cresent accessable off of Wright Road.

Churches of many Beliefs and Denominations are in abundance for all who wish to attend or become a part of with the majority of Christian Denominations working hand in hand to support the needs of the community.

Overall Faulkner Street is a nice place to live although it could be much friendlier. Consisting of an ecclectic mix of homes built in the 60s, 70s and 80s the street and neighbourhood are due for a face lift however property prices continue to rise and renovations within the area are well underway with many homeowners taking on this investment into their property.
