"Look for the giant metal fish"

Fish Creek is a small Victorian town located on the way to Wilsons Promontory within the South Gippsland.

Fish Creek began as a railway station on the South Gippsland line in South Gippsland, Victoria. Opened during the 1890s and was on operation until 1991 when the line to Barry Beach servicing the oil fields in the Bass Strait was closed. The line was then dismantled and turned into the Great Southern Rail Trail.

No longer a small township, today it boasts a general store, art galleries, cafes and children’s book authors (Alison Lester and Roland Harvey) catering to locals as well as tourists who pass through the town on their way to Wilsons Promontory.

In the last decade, much infrastructure has been built to support a growing population. The town serves a prosperous dairying district, with a hotel – Fish Creek Hotel (1939), hall – The Fish Creek Memorial Hall (1930), school – Fish Creek and District Primary School which caters for students prep to grade 6 and Post Office.

The township has mainly permanent residents (less than 1000) but swells over the holiday season with tourists and day travellers. Plenty of options for holiday-makers including Luxury Rentals, B&B’s, Caravan Parks and Motel Units.
Fish Creek is located around 138 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD. Transport services are also available from Melbourne to immediately outside the Fish Creek Hotel.

Looking for a home in Fish Creek?

"It is the Small Town - where everybody knows your name...."

Fish Creek is an eclectic village in the Tarwin Valley, Southern Gippsland made up of farming families who have been in the region for generations and the vibrancy of 'newcomers' who have added so much colour with arts, food, wine and music to our community. We are a close knit, proud of place (why wouldn't we be it is a bountiful as it is beautiful) bunch, countrified in style, near some of the most stunning beaches in the world and all less than 2 hours from Melbourne.

Not sure why the ratings are coming up 'not great' on some items which I've given 5 stars....
