Reviews of Forrest Beach, QLD

"A coastal Village that lives up to that expectation"

Formerly considered a retirement option - as well, it now has a lot of new and younger families moving into the area. Miles of absolute beachfront with green agricultural areas behind, Forrest Beach (Allingham) is quiet, friendly, a picture and generally safe from weather extremes.

Great for

  • Quiet
  • Safe for families & elderly
  • Great climate & a beautiful place to live

Not great for

  • Local shopping only or you must travel 18km's to Ingham

"Great place to Invest and Retire"

"Forrest Beach" is a pretty beachside commuity in North Queensland. Within the confines of local Government and the State Government, this small Gem and still greatly 'unkown' little township is also known as Allingham. With approximately 1,600 residents and located 17km east of Ingham, Forrest Beach is an ecclectic mix of professionals, young families and retirees. Over the past 19 years I have had the priviledge to watch Forrest Beach slowly transform. Back then when you entered'Beatts Road' [considered the longest road in Forrest Beach, approx 3.4 kms long] the first stretch had a few houses [residential zoning] predominantely on the left side as the right sided land led you to the Beach via Bushland] and at the 1.5 km mark onwards you'd find the larger blocks and even fewer houses. In 2010 'Beatts Road' has three 'residential development estates' underway. Yes time sure has changed good ole' Forrest Beach. It is a friendly community with people knowing their neighbours and a visit to the local Spar Supermarket or the Newsagent will find you chatting with others. Yes it is that friendly. Forrest Beach is also very kids friendly. Children can go to the beach, still ride their bikes or just hang out with their friends, in a safe environment.Forrest Beach Infrastructure consists of a local Primary School, the Surf Life Saving Club, the Fire Brigade, Doctors Clinic, Chemist, Mechanic, Reggies famous 'Take away', Desiree's Hair Salon and Jenny's Newsagency/Post Office, the newly refurbished Forrest Beach Hotel [yummy meals, great atmoshere, fantastic views to the Palm Island group...] and Venables Real Estate [locals that have serviced this community for over 25 years in the area of Property Sales, Property Management, Auctions and Holiday Rentals] if you want to know about the place and the property market just give Mary Venables a call. We also have all the Trades here from Plumbers, Electricians,Builders, Carpenters etc.In Forrest Beach you can enjoy a leisurely stroll on the Beach with the whole family including the dog, go fishing in the local channels, throw in the Carb Pots or go off shore fishing. You'll be sure to catch a few Barra's, Muddies, Red Emporer.....Yes, we do have the "Stinger Season" and the "Wet Season" but this little community has all the contingencies in place for those events. People are just so relaxed they go with the flow. If you want to go shopping just drive into Ingham [17kms] or go south to Townsville [1 1/2 hours away]. People who come to visit remark on 'how peaceful, clean and friendly' Forrest Beach is. Would I recommed it? 'Highly' after having lived in Sydney and on the Gold Coast for many years, Forrest Beach is a wonderfully 'laid back' community, with a beauty all of its own and an affordable Life Style. Incidentially the median price range for a three bedroom house is around the $320k mark and blocks of land for about $120k

Do you get mosquitoes and midges bad in Forrest beach? Thinking about moving that way but kids can tolerate them.
