"a thriving beachside suburb."

The most attractive of the seaside suburbs in Adelaide. There are streets lined with pines giving it a cool feel during the summer. The beach is one of the best in Adelaide, wide expanses of white sands and blue sea.

The nightlife is great down at Glenelg with plenty of places to eat and drink so you are guaranteed of a good night out. Add to that the biggest and best public new years party and those that are out for a good time will be in their element. If you want to get into the city the tram will have you there in 25 minutes and the drive is an easy one.

The downside is if you are too close to jetty road it will be busy year round but especially in summer and weekends. However, as you move back away from Jetty road it gets quieter making it a great place to be. Despite being quieter, the streets will ever be full of cars as people froma round Adelaide park where they can to get to this pristine beach.

There are big blocks and old houses making it the best spot for everyone from singles to retirees.

"Beachside living, great for kids."

Glenelg is a fantastic place to raise a family. While its a beach side town, it has all of the facilities you could need. (and only about 20 minutes from Adelaide CBD). Plenty of good schools (Glenelg Primary), Jetty Rd offers lots of shopping fun and many restaurants. (seafood of course). Also there is an ABC child care on Tapleys Hill Road.

We get our fair share of tourists but as a place to live I would definitely recommend.

"Land Suburb of Adelaide"

Gleneg is alive Suburb. It's not hard to reach as Tram and Bus services are available. The beaches are so wonderful and in the morning, especially, it's not only full of people spending their time walking, jogging, running, cycling or even just sitting and doing the chit-chat, but also dogs, from the smallest dog up to the big ones, running, catching the balls thrown by their masters. Healthy and happy view.

"Glenelg is South Australia’s most liveable suburb. Period!"

In a few words,

Glenelg is South Australia’s most liveable suburb. Period!

It’s Adelaide’s choice for a day sun tanning on the beach, morning cycle and coffee, shopping for a new jacket, picnic in the park or simple gelato. There is always something happening in Glenelg, for both visitors and locals.

Glenelg’s crystal waters and fine sand along with many green parks, wide/high quality roads, diverse traders and variety in residents really makes the perfect environment. Being so close to the CBD and several different modes of transport has attracted many types of home owner / tenant.

Glenelg’s residents primarily consist of professional couples, singles, families with kids, retirees, tourists and students. All love the beach and have a strong environmental focus. I love how close the community is and the way Glenelg residents support Glenelg businesses!

Glenelg’s homes are high quality with the average home selling in July 2021 for an average of $1,020,000 and the average unit fetching a cool $573 per week. Rental returns in the area are strong with limited supply and high demand remaining even into Adelaide’s winter months. Taplin Real Estate just leased an apartment for a record $1,500 per week!

So, your looking to move to Glenelg? What do you need to know?

Where to buy food?

Bayside Village on the corner of Brighton Road and Jetty Road has you covered. The centre has a large Woolworths, BWS, Australia Post, Newsagency, Coffee Shop, Carwash and gym. Not to mention several specialties such as Telstra, Subway, OPSM, Bendigo, Commonwealth Bank and more!

Where to buy clothes?

Fashion presence amongst Glenelg has grown significantly in the last 12 months with the addition of several new stores, the newest being Bronze Snake shop on Jetty Road. Other key clothing stores include Attitudes, Denim and Equity, Witchery, Blazae and Extreme Boardriders to name a few. Glenelg has a range of men’s, women’s and children’s wear. Personally, I source all my clothes from trades amongst Jetty Road.

Parking?

Glenelg has hundreds of free carparks for residents and visitors both on and off street, open or undercover. You can rest assured a day on Jetty Road or at the beach can be made easy with such variety in carparking available. My choice for carparking is Partridge Street, underneath the cinema. First 2 hours free!

Party?

Fourth – Best for cocktails, light dinner and a good young sit down environment.
Hanky Panky – Small hidden gem on Durham Street, good for spirits and cocktails.
Moseley – Sunday after 8 PM = Party town. Good for lunch and dinner downstairs.
Pier – Cheaper drinks, short walk from Moseley Square.
Chalkers – Good for a low key night on the beers, keep entertained with a game of pool.
Jetty Bar – Cheap beers and sports.
Coming soon: More exciting party and drinking venues coming to Glenelg.

Staying for only a few nights? Try these in order from cheapest to most expensive.

Taft Motor Inn – Newly renovated 1, 1.5 and 2 bedroom units for cheap prices.
The Stamford – Nice hotel on the beachfront, can be costly during peak times.
The Pier/Oak – Short walk from Moseley Square, rates are reasonable.
Coming soon: More exciting hotels coming to Glenelg.
Best value for money – Taft Motor Inn.

Transport:
Tram and Bus run regularly. 4 minute drive to the nearest train station.
Ubers and Taxi’s are always in the area.

"Glenelg- Growth Suburb"

Glenelg is one of my favourite suburbs- summer in Adelaide is Glenelg. A feed at any of the restaurants along Jetty Road, relaxing with family and friends on the foreshore and a swim on those 35 degree days. Glenelg = lifestyle. Having rented there in 2006-7 on the Esplanade I can highly recommend the area. ***** Star rating

"Awesome place to hang out on a nice day"

Glenelg is a popular tourist spot in Adelaide, adn Jetty Road is the reason why. It heads straight onto the Glenelg pier, and has a great pub on the corner to sit in and watch the world go by

"Fun in the sun just 20 minutes from Adelaide"

Glenelg is a busy beachside suburb and tourist hotspot. As Adelaide’s most popular suburban beach, it is jam-packed with sunseekers in summer and maintains a steady crowd all year round.
Glenelg is easy to access from Adelaide. It is just a 20 minute drive from the CBD, a 30 minute tram trip or 40 minutes by bus.

The main strip of Jetty Road is full of fish and chip shops, cheap clothing stores, cafés and endless choices for ice-cream. There is a fastfood strip closer to the seafront, along with a couple of pubs (like the Dublin and the Grand) which attract huge crowds on summer nights. There are also a number of more pricey restaurants offering good seafood dishes, with prices to match.

Apartment blocks and old houses are quite common in the area, and there has been a huge amount of development with lots of super-modern places along the seafront. Prices rise exponentially each step closer to the sea. Parking can be a nightmare if you don’t have a garage.

Glenelg is a fun spot on the beach, where there is always something happening. However you are best to head either North or South along the coast if you are seeking something a bit more peaceful!
