Gungahlin, ACT 2912

Gungahlin has quickly gained a reputation as one of North Canberra's most desired suburbs. The reason for its rise in my opinion is due to the continual development of its retail and commercial precinct meaning Gungahlin residents never have to go far from home for anything whether it is grabbing a nice cup of coffee or doing the grocery shopping.

It has grown immensely since the good old days when I moved to Canberra (8 years ago) when their was only the Woolworths building. Now with well over a hundred stores, hotel, college, library, oval and soon to be established cinema and a club or drinks establishment, Gungahlin is the place to be.

Now to housing and here are are few stats, 2202 private dwellings occupied by 5617 people. Almost 50% of the properties in Gungahlin (49.3%) are 4 bedroom houses compared to the 36.5% Australia wide average which is why the area has become very popular with families.

Another thing of note is that Gungahlin is one of the most multicultural areas in Canberra with 41.1% of the population born overseas which is also evident in the stores trading in the area.

I can highly recommend Gungahlin to anyone looking to relocate to Canberra or thinking about crossing the bridge (don't worry we are not that much different on this side) as it is a great family area where nothing is out of reach.
