Education here is obviously supreme as I frequently discern students embarking and disembarking off buses in this region. Its close proximity to the sea and glorious shopping village is something to genuinely look forward to about this region. Transport links are fairly more decent than neighbouring Five Dock. The only caveat is that on the border shared with Ashfield, congestion can be buzzing as well as the Far Eastern side, but other than that, Haberfield is abundant with green clean space, with many professionals residing here to enjoy the laid back atmosphere and the culturally varied. The nearest train station is in Ashfield, and that is scarcely very far away, so transport links are much favourable.

Truely beautiful suburb with very friendly neighbours. Dining is great, but the area could do with more cafes in general and upgrade of the shopping strip. Small supermarket and great Italian deli's. 5min drive to Five Dock for more shopping options without the hordes or people. Easy access to the city with buses and the light rail.

Haberfield seriously is just amazing. Full of beautiful gardens and wide streets, its a nice change from the city scape with the convenience of the proximity!
Walking down the street, everyone knows everyone else and always stop for a quick chat.
The schools are fantastic, particularly Haberfield Public and Dobroyd Point.
It is within easy walking distance to multiple avenues of public transport, from the bus to the light rail.
There is an abundance of parkland for children to play at or just relax.
Definitely a must see when looking for your new home!

Haberfield, just a hop skip and jump from town the city, has a rich history steeped in heritage traditions. The suburb was first established in 1901 when a daughter of the original landholder passed away, Sarah Ramsay’s heirs sold the first 50 acres to Richard Stanton. Stanton was inspired by the early town planning movement and his first subdivision was between Deakin and Waratah Streets.
Stanton’s vision of a “Model Suburb” ensured fresh air, no overlooking and access to natural sunlight. Being based on the City Beautiful Movement, Haberfield soon became known as the “Garden Suburb”. Today Haberfield retains its key concepts of wide tree-lined streets, neighbourly gardens and period architecture.
Today the entire suburb is heritage listed as a Conservation Area and is proudly part of the Register of the National Estate of Australia.
Post World War Two immigration brought a considerable Italian influence into Haberfield and as a direct result of this influence these days it's a foodie heaven. Walk down Ramsay Street on a Saturday morning and you’ll feel you’ve gone through a time warp and entered 1950’s Italy.

There are traditional Italian bakeries, specialty cheese shops, cake shops, modern cafes, pizzerias, a butcher, delis and supermarkets that have endless supplies of all things Italian. You’ll often see small groups of middle aged and elderly Italian men congregating on street benches for a chat or willing to exchange cheeky banter with younger women. The food is among the best you’ll find anywhere in Sydney, often at cheaper prices. You'll love the flavour that Haberfield has to offer.

Homes tend to be large and are mostly of Federation and Californian Bungalow eras, nestled in appealing tree-lined streets. It’s more of a suburb for families, and couples, with the unpretentious savvy moving in.

Local parking is no problem and you will be serviced well by an array of public buses and the soon to be finished new light rail, with Ashfield and Summer Hill stations only a short distance away. The vibe in Haberfield is friendly, with a strong Italian presence. Haberfield and its surrounding suburbs have excellent private and state schools with both denominational and non-denominational options.

Once people move to Haberfield most never move out and any wonder as it is surrounded by parks and has a lovely relaxed multicultural inner west feel. Haberfield is bursting with culture (Italian culture in particular), leafy streets and bustling cafes. Papa's Patisserie (in particular) is probably one of its most famous cafe landmarks. With people travelling across Sydney, prepared to line up down Ramsay St, in order to get their hands on one of Papa's traditional Italian Ricotta Cheesecakes, you can be assured they are worth the wait!
With plenty of other cafes as well as restaurants lining Ramsay Street, there are plenty of other places to get your perfect coffee if you don't have time for Papa's famous lines!

With the majority of Haberfield's houses protected under a "heritage order", you will be quick to notice the beautiful federation homes around every corner. A feature that particularly stands out to me are the trees that line almost ever street of Haberfield, almost providing a canopy of leaves across each road.

Wide tree-lined streets, large blocks of land with Federation houses protected from subdivision or demolition by a Conservation plan that covers the whole suburb...all just 8km from the CBD. Northern end borders Hen & Chicken Bay, great for rowing, or the Bay Run.
The strong Italian presence equals good food that has the Gourmet Safari tours coming through every Saturday morning. Strong community feel. No train but excellent bus service.

Haberfield has definitely raised it’s profile as an excellent dining and meeting place in Inner West Sydney. There are a few very famous Italian patisseries in the area, with the most yummy cakes and profiteroles to go with a good cup of coffee. Sunday afternoons are well spent catching up with friends over coffee and cake in this suburb, where parking is always easy to find and you are not too far from the city. There is a really famous wood fired pizza restaurant called La Disfida on the strip and it is quite good. Somehow the toppings are a little thin but the tomato sauce and ingredients are the freshest ever!
