Reviews of Halifax St, Adelaide (CBD)

"Happy with Halifax"

Having worked on Halifax for a couple of years now I have learnt it is a fantastic location to work or live. It is not as busy as the city center and has some great cafes including Greek on Halifax and Panacea and also The Bowery Kitchen & Grocer for a quick lunch or coffee just down the road. With a tram stop at one end of the road and Hutt street at the other It is a great place to work or live.

Great for

  • Great cafes
  • Tram

Not great for

  • Parking is difficult sometimes

"Comfortable inner city living"

Halifax Street has undergone quite a change over the last 10 years or so. Once the domain of small businesses and home to a number of large carparks, it is now a trendy area with modern three-storey townhouses and apartment blocks.

The area is popular with renters, whether they are uni students, international students or young professionals.

There has been a rapid expansion in services in the area, with a number of great restaurants popping up. The Greek is an excellent spot for good coffee and amazing greek food. China Town is also just a few streets away, so great if you love Asian.

The Central Market (with all of its fresh produce) is nearby, and the heart of the city is only a 15 minute walk. Parking can be tough for visitors, but most of the residential properties have a garage.

The area can attract some slightly dodgy characters at night, so be careful strolling around after dark.
