Happy Valley, SA 5159

Happy Valley is a large suburb that offers something for everyone! Entry level 3 bedroom homes, through to larger, prestigious family homes with extensive views & everything in between. Well established with many trees, parks, wetlands & wildlife, there is also good shopping, public transport, easy access to the Southern Expressway & even a golf course! Prices will generally vary from $400,000 - $600,000 with a few exceptions.

A very peaceful suburb. We are within walking distance to McDonald's and Foodland. Around 5.5km away there is a major shopping shopping center (The Hub) which has most shops and services. Happy valley reservoir is nearby and the sight of Kangaroos lazing around in the sun is not an uncommon sight.

A great place to live with the opportunity of living close to koalas and kangaroos. I'd often walk my dog in the park off Reynell Road, and we'd see plenty of kangaroos, koalas in the trees, rabbits and locals riding their horses. Absolutely superb!

Having lived in this area - Happy Valley/Aberfoyle Hub Cusp - I can thoroughly recommend the area.

Within walking distance you have a Shopping Centre inc Hair Dressing, Beauty, Health/Nutrition, Fresh Fruits, Butchers, Uniform Shop, Video Rentals, Orthodontist, Optometrist, $2 shop, Cafes and Take Away stores, Bank etc. There is also a Library (inc. free Toy Library), Child Care Centres, Pre-Schools, Primary Schools (K-7) (public and private), High School (8-12), Community Centre, 2x "Salvo" like Stores, as well as Indoor Play Centre and Bus Terminal which are all within walking distance.

For the out of doors types, there is a fantastic park for children's play, easy walks or bbqs - Thalassa Park. In addition to this there are several walking tracks and reserves (great for pets' walks or head clearing strolls) are all in the local area. All needs are met in one space!

The area is relatively crime free - every area has it's underbelly - and thoroughly enjoyed my time there.

A short drive north or south takes you to Westfield or Colonades Shopping Centres, Beaches, into the Hills or metro areas.

Honestly, life doesn't get much more balanced than living in aptly named "Happy Valley".

Great Place to live and raise a family

Nestled in the southern Mt Lofty ranges on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Happy valley is a big suburb covering a lot of area, all beautiful country. It is well established, and yet there are new developments coming up all the time in the area.

The houses in Happy Valley are largely three or more bedroom homes, on large blocks, many with pools. Many of the houses are on sloping blocks and will have split levels.

For the nature lovers, Kookaburras are often heard marking their territory with their laughs and guffaws, Koalas are not an uncommon site and possums make a home in the bountiful trees, not your roof.

There is a good mix of older couples, older families and young families in the area and asa result there is a good blend of services. There are a number of good schools around Happy Valley often within pleasant walking distances.

While not as up to date as some newer areas of Adelaide, there are some wonderful parks and walking trails through Happy Valley that are perfect for dog walkers and joggers alike. the play equipment for younger children is good quality, if a a little dated in some parks. But the same could be said of many areas. Compared to some areas on the plains of Adelaide, this is a family's paradise.

It is walking that you are most likely to mix with your neighbours. It is not often that you will spend time out in the front yard talking to your neighbours but you may bump into them at the local park and have a catch up. It is a friendly, but not nosy neighbourhood.

Transport to and from the city is good but not great. There are good bus servcies that will take you into the city in around 50 minutes. The drive into the city will be of a similar but slightly shoter length. However, Marion is close by and so is Colenades.

It is a short trip down to some of the best beaches Adelaide has to offer, with the benfit of the beaches not being over run. For the surfer, the mid coast is just a short trip as well.

I grew up in Happy Valley, riding my bike or walking to school. My parents still live there as does my older brother and his family and I still have friends that live in the area. It is a wonderful suburb and one that I would put on the list to live in again.
