Love living in Hastings! Great area!

Hastings has everything you need. The people here are friendly. I love all the walks along the reserve and if you enjoy fishing you will enjoy living in Hastings. We are lucky we bought at the right time house prices keep going up. I feel safe here. My only complaint is lack of daycares meeting NQS one or two I believe I have heard the kindergarten and primary schools are very good. We have had several people on our street come and introduce themselves and welcome us to Hastings it's been really nice. Move to the peninsula you won't regret it :)

I’ve lived here with my family for 5 years now. I initially bought my home as an investment property but then decided to live. We’ve been very happy. The nature, foreshore, sport facilities are all lovely. So many new and wonderful cafes and shops have opened recently. I think Hastings is really going places. There’s an eclectic mix living here.

I bought in Hastings 11 years as it was very affordable with excellent prospects for capital growth - I was not disappointed.

Sure I bought in the lower socioeconomic area (West Park) and it was a little rough back then but now it’s quiet and mostly privately owned.

I did my research and knew the street I was buying in was to become a through road into a new 300 house development where the average block size was 350m (mine is just under 800m).

It’s let me have mortgage payments lower than any comparable rent while building equity to the point last year at the bottom of the market cycle, I was able to purchase another house to rent out with views to moving to in Church Street in the heart of town.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s no Mount Martha where I sold up from after a separation but I’ve never been robbed here - I was twice in 2 years in Mount Martha.

Affordable, great facilities including 2 nearby private schools it leaves enough in the budget to invest and enjoy life by the sea.

I have lived in Hastings for 12 years and enjoy it low traffic,close to beaches 25 minute drive to Mornington and Frankston not much to complain about maybe some feral kids on monkey bikes and a few burglaries (mostly in west park) but compared to other suburbs it's nothing to worry about.

Worst place in the world! 85% are dole blugers. I'm not saying everyone on welfare is a bludger. However, I knew of multiple people ripping off welfare; claiming disability when they didn't have a disability. The rest of them are intergenerationally unemployed. Most have never held a job, and have been on welfare since they dropped out of high school to have children they cannot afford. My next door neighbour had 7 children in a 2 or 3 bedroom home. Amongst others, these people spent their days harassing us. Making it impossible for any enjoyment of the property or even being able to hold down an online job. My advice get out. There's a reason the price prices have dropped so dramatically; it is completely unlivable. I've never come across children who thought it was a luxury to buy food, nor have I come across children who think it's acceptable and normal to swear at adults and threaten to kill your pets. It's given new meaning to the word Feral. Men frequently attack women, it was a living nightmare.

The 'Mornington' like shopping area of western port. The area has many shops and amenities and is vastly more dense than the rest of the local suburbs on the western port side of the Mornington Peninsula. The main shopping strip High Street has been recently revitalised and developed to offer a superior and more modern shopping area. It is the most populous area on this side of the peninsula and the marina is a big draw card. The area is also set to benefit from the second phase of the new extension of the Frankston Line to Baxter and then eventually onto Hastings and Crib Pt.

This is a great place to live. I've always wanted to live in a seaside town and Hastings has everything I need. A short drive and I'm on the beautiful beaches of Somers, Merricks and Point Leo. Very attractive place with amazing bird life in and around the wetlands.

Hastings is a wonderful coastal town. There's so much to do, walking and cycling tracks, cafes and restaurants, westernport bay fishing, kayaking, boating and sailing, wineries and farm to gate produce farms. I'd say the people are very friendly and welcoming. It seems Hastings is a hub for the greater westernport region because it has everything you need in terms of shopping and industry. So, there seems to be a real positive mix of people from all over. We've been building our house and having everything so close makes it so easy...Bunnings is just down the road as well as all kinds of other trade services. We feel really lucky being able to build on a good size block only a stones throw from the water. We couldn't do that on the other side of the peninsula! There's about 7 other houses in our street that are being renovated, so it seems Hastings is becoming a hot spot to buy! We love it here.

This place is a bit of a mix, you have the new side that looks great and then you have the old side, where I live 😫. The train is pretty nosy, teenagers on motorbikes going through town and not caring about rd rules or padestrians, cops don’t seem to care. And no body seems to care for the speed limit and tailgate you if you are doing it. The park and foreshore are the biggest highlight for the area with a beautiful walking track.

There are so many things to do here. Plenty of schools to choose from and the town has such a wonderful feel about it. We moved from the city and have never looked back. Our kids love it here. The main street of hastings has really developed over the last year and there are new cafes, restaurants and health shops popping up everywhere. Great place to get fantastic coffee. And the vineyards! So many world class vineyards. If you're thinking of living here...do it!

Hastings is amazing. It has the peace and quiet of a country town yet is so close to Melbourne and all the hotspots on the Mornington Peninsula. Hastings Marina is extensive and extremely well serviced for yachties and fisherfolk alike. We moved here to sail and absolutely love it. Western Port Bay is huge with never ending places to visit...on the water. It takes me less time to commute to work via the Peninsula Link than it did when I lived in the inner suburbs trying to travel across town.
There are so many parks and nature spots all around Hastings and the beaches of Somers, Merricks and Point Leo are just around the corner. If riding is your thing there's plenty of dedicated riding paths as well. If walking is your thing there's plenty of meandering tracks through natural bush and park land. As mentioned by others, the town has a completely serviced shopping centre, 4 medical centres and all kinds of industry. Plenty of great restaurants too.
There's been a shift here with a major redevelopment planned for the foreshore and development almost completed in the main street, not to mention the residential development going on.
It's such a friendly and welcoming town. I love it here and so does the family...

I've been living in Hastings for two years and love it. It's growing quickly and the property market is booming. The shopping area has most things you need for day to day and anything else is only a 10-15 minute drive. There is a fantastic area down at the waterfront to walk dogs off lead. Pelican park is a great gym and pool facility with the amazing Pelican Societe cafe overlooking the water. We also have beautiful beaches within a 10 minute drive. There are some really nice areas to live in and we feel very safe. It's so nice to escape to peaceful Hastings in summer after being in grid lock on the other side of the peninsula. I think a lot of the reviews on here are old and don't reflect Hastings as it is now that it has developed. There are 3 big medical centres here aswell so lack of doctors that has been mentioned is definitely not the case now.

Moved from Donvale to Hastings, lots of changes . Quiet and peaceful compare to anywhere I have been. People are friendly, bay is beautiful , close to beaches. The houses here are quite affordable, Highly recommended for retiree .

Hastings itself has been bustling this past few years, high street has grown and there's the new K-mart, Aldi and other shops etc, also the Hastings street market which has been going for a few years now. Lots of new developments going up and local investments happening.
A new medical center has opened recently so we don't have to go to Crib point or Frankston.
West park is an up and coming area and most of the yobbo's have moved on as more houses become privately owned. There's two new estates on either side of it now. Yes, there are some housing commission properties left there and mostly they are good people; but you can get dodgy people living anywhere regardless of their circumstances. And i have a pretty good idea who the 10 year old is that has been mentioned, and yes it's pretty sad I feel sorry for the kid tbh he's going to end up in jail one day if he keeps going the way he is.
One thing I have always noticed living here, people do say hello and are normally polite and friendly, yes Hastings is getting busier but it's still like a country town in many ways.

Not very happy with the area I am in currently. Although this is a temporary situation I now realize that I should have gone with my initial gut feeling (should never ignore these !!) .
Unfortunately I found out from the local Police that this street is a particularly problem one with lots of trouble ongoing. This really made me feel great !!!

Some of the comments posted already rather perplex me. Having lived here for over 30 years, we have seen a lot of changes. Can't say I've seen too many wild dogs or stray animals ever! And I've never been asked for 'cigerettes' [sic] by kids. It is no more dangerous than any other rural, seaside town. There ARE quite a few other coffee shops besides Lelleys - and equally as good.There is an enormous park right beside the bay which is just a delight with areas for walking dogs/kids' playground/bbqs/skateboard area, etc. etc. Pelican Park right near the jetty is a wonderful leisure centre with a fabulous indoor pool. The jetty is great for fishing and there is a yacht club near to it. It is close to some beautiful rural countryside and beaches. Being on the Western Port side of the Peninsula means that it is far less manic during the summer holiday period, thank goodness. People are friendly - as anywhere - if you treat people with friendliness and courtesy, you receive it back. Schools are good, both the 2 primary schools and the secondary college (my children attended both and they also went onto University). One disappointing thing recently was the closing down of one of the medical centres here, however the other (Hastings Clinic) has had a massive upgrade and now employs more doctors. In short - if you make an effort to integrate, you'll find some lovely, down to earth people.

Hastings looks to be an up and coming area, although parts are shabby with newer estates and young families moving in prices will rise quickly and already have. Don't know what the dangers are, perhaps from the wild dogs?
Hopefully the infrastructure will improve.

I moved here 5 years ago. Love the village and semi rural feel. Not the hustle and bussle of living closer to Melbourne and a lot less traffic but yet the train line gives easy access. Would not want to live anywhere else.

im a carrer with a young family and found hastings to accomadated our needs.my mother plays free bingo 5 days aweek my teenagers have made new friends an play competition sport an i have found the people to be nice that ive spoken to.it takes awhile to adjust to a new place but once you get to know people and your way around your pretty much set...i enjoy the bay and walking around the dog park my mum loves the pelicans an my kids find travelling on public transport no worries all in all we are happy

We have just moved here from Mornington and find there is a lack of local parks. The parks we have found, we have to cross at least 3 main and very busy roads. The local school which does have playgroung facilities has just put up a huge fence so there is no access, so my kids are now missing out on the cricket nets, basketball rings and oval to play football. We have lived all over Australia and find Hastings to be lacking in local family facilities. Having said that, if we brave the main roads and train tracks, the Pelican Park area is fantastic with a beautiful leash free area for the dogs, a newly renovated playground for the little kids and a fantastic skate park for older kids. It's just ashame they can't turn some of the vacant land in our area that is overgrown and full of rubbish into more family friendly area's.....and clean up the Kings Creek reserve.

Hastings is a nice quiet town and I have a walk just about everynight and just about everyone says hello. Have lived here for ten years and still like it. Still has the odd redneck but all in all better than a lot of other places.The housing is also still affordable although like most towns on the Peninsula it is climbing at a vast pace.
