Reviews of Heathcote, VIC

"So so! Can be very clicky! A lot of gossip!"

I was here for 2 years. 1 IGA, can online shop with Coles on some days. Very little in the way of shops so expect to be driving to a lot. I was surprised with the amount of gossiping for no reason except boredom. Some parts not very nice. Be very careful of the number of accidents with kangaroos on the road it is a serious problem. Does have a library. A primary school but no high schools. Limited for GPs, hospitals, medical etc. Mix of ages but not much for teenagers to do. Okay if you have an interest in wine. Nice bakery. I prefer more 'artisty' towns personally. You end up driving a lot to get around. Limited for work opportunities, internet The drive to Kyneton can be really bad and accidents.

"A semi rural township that is quickly gentrifying"

Heathcote is a beautiful semi-rural township, located at the junction of the Northern and McIvor Highways.

The gateway to Bendigo, Melbourne, Nagambie and Ecucha, Heathcote is best known for its wine, specifically Shiraz.

However the economy is starting to diversify.

With increased visitation and new arrivals, the opportunities for younger people and families will increase. Particularly for professionals wanting a slower pace of life but with connection to the city.

"Tight nit town."

I grew up in Heathcote, until I moved to NSW when I was 8, and visit there regularly. Heathcote is absolutely beautiful, with lovely people helping eachother out you rarely hear of a big crime in the area. Plenty of wildlife, bush and countryside. Great for people interested in bushland and bush walking, gold panning, natural beauty and space.

Perfect for retirees and young families.

Great for

  • Natural beauty.
  • Neighbour spirit.
  • Peaceful.

Not great for

  • A little out of the way.

"Naturally beauty and its people beautifully unpretentious andfriendly."

Heathcote is well positioned in the heartland of central victoria on the northern highway. Nestled below Mount Ida, surounded by national parks and pasroral lands. Lifestyle properties and treechangershave found this gemof a village an atttractive place to live.Friendliness and genuine concern for each other is a mark of everyday life. This makes shopping rather prolonged sometimes but there are plenty of eateries and fun places to catch up . For a small town we are blessed with cafes, wineries, bakeries, small businesses to sell clothing, handcrafts and gift ware, Our hospital and pharmacy and visiting allied health facilities mean care without the usual queues.
Numerousfestivals , a film and artist groups, several craft grouprs U3A , friendly churches and service clubs. There are two primary school and a preschool. Adolescents attend a variety of goverbnment or private schools within the vicinity of 45 kms in all directions. a youth worker and neighbourhood house run community activites including permaculture, food swaps and life style programs.Public ransport is by bus return daily to melboune and stopping at melbourne airport. Bendigo remains the neighbouring provincal city offering tertiary education, buusiness and cultural opportunities.sporting clubs include football, netball, cricket and fishing or boating at nearby lake Eppalock. Our farmers maket and the monthly market plus two great op shops provide alternative culture and recyclers with a fun place to meet and swap all kinds of wares. I have lived in Heathcote for 10 years and love its history, its characters and its growing population diversity . A warm welcome to Victoria's undiscovered gem.

It's kangaroo heaven as most people have had car accidents with them. Sorry but that's the truth.
