Reviews of Holden Hill, SA

"Peaceful, safe suburb to live in."

I can't believe that some people would put in their reviews here that does not even know the difference between North Eastern suburbs and where TTP is located, hence don't even live in the suburb.🤷‍♀️
Holden Hill is an amazing place to live. Very suitable for young families, singles and older people, alike. Our neighbours are very friendly and helpful.
Shops are just a few blocks away and this place is very relaxing with all the parks and greenery. Surely, this is a very safe place to live.

"A sleeper"

I have lived in Holden Hill for at least 35 years. Our closest six or so neighbours are all great and most have been here as long as us. We are all on first name basis and have the odd chat in the street.
I live on the Eastern edge and appreciate the hills views the reservoir and mature trees. The traffic is light and mostly local as we aren't on the way anywhere. I have cycled to work most of my working life along the Linear Park and still enjoy the occasional ride now I'm retired.
We have an investment property in the newer subdivision that was built on the site of the old Holden Hill primary school. As far as I am aware none of our tenants have had any issues with neighbours or crime. Whenever I visit the property the street seems well kept and quiet.
Being only 12km from the city and having the conveniences nearby I have always considered Holden Hill to be a bit of a sleeper suburb but going by the amount of infill happening at the moment I think developers at least have woken up to it.

Great for

  • Hills views
  • Close to everything!
  • O'Bahn Busway
  • Parks and recreational

"A suburb full of ignorant scumbags"

I grew up in Holden Hill and moved away to study in NSW where I stayed in some of Sydney's notorious suburbs like Redfern and Bankstown.
Moved back to Sa after having kids and rented in Munno Parra and Seaford and back to Holden Hill and I can assure you Holden Hill has changed horribly and way worst than any other suburb I have rented in.
We were lucky to buy a 5 yo unit amongst old dilapidated asbestos houses and it was pure hell.
Neighbours who never mowed their lawns and just filled their yards with junk, loud music till 2am, Commodores and anything else loud flying up and down our street doing burnouts late at night and screaming arguing unclassy people who looked like they were on ice.
For a suburb that has the largest police station I was astonished that SAPOL ignored most complaints of noise, burnouts, drunken arguments in the street and abuse hurled by these unclassy people who reside near Tarton road.
We were forced to move to a different suburb as we had young children and I am still angry we were forced to sell our home because of no hopers privately renting on the cheap and turning the suburb into a ghetto.

Great for

  • We moved away from it

Not great for

  • Tarton and Baird Ave
  • Lazy SA police not caring about doing their job
  • Street was a race track for hoons

"Such a Lovely Area with all the Amenities All in Close Proximity!"

Holden Hill is a eastern suburb situated in the city of Adelaide. Now, I have visited here twice, so I know a little bit of the area. Holden Hill is only 15-20 minutes away from the city, which is not so far. Literally, it is close to all the amenities that you need! Shopping, schools, parks, eateries, gyms (there is one in Holden Hill called Holden Hill Gym, owned by Good Life Fitness Gyms. Visit their website for more information) and many more. Tea Tree Plaza (Modbury) is surprisingly more or less than 5 minutes away! Get your shopping bags, and head over there! It's a great shopping centre. Public transport is rather excellent, with the O'Bahn Busway in Paradise, buses going and coming from the city - as well as the normal buses on the roads in the local area. Parking is good, too. Parks are great, with the Thorndon Reservation Park in very close proximity (right next to Holden Hill), and there are lots of other lovely parks in the area, just to point out to you. It is very peaceful and quiet here, so if you mind the quietness, this is the place for you! It is also very safe, and there is really no crime in this area.
So this is my review about Holden Hill. If you would like to comment, please do. If I have missed out on anything, go to the star ratings. Hope this helps if you are deciding to live in this beautiful area, Holden Hill!

"Quality of Life in Holden Hill"

Holden Hill is a great place to get into home ownership and well located for day to day life...
Plenty of shops nearby no matter what you are looking for, extremely well located for public transport, the O-Bahn and you can still buy a decent priced block, new or existing home here!

Many good local parks/play-grounds, schools, Linear Park is a stones throw away and the birds that live here are beautiful. Kinda makes you feel that you are further from the city than you really are...And there is a great ice-cream man (Pedro) every Sunday afternoon. How lovely is that!

Overall its about 10km from the city (20 minutes max by O-Bahn or 15 minutes by car to the city). Otherwise its 5 minutes to TTP and the Modbury Hospital by car.

Make your own mind up!

"Nice area with shops close by"

Just up North East road about half way between the city and Tea tree plaza is Holden Hill. There are some good blocks in here of a good size. It is a goog family area as it has a number of three bedroom brick homes around the place.

Holden hill is home to a homebrew shop, a spot for climbing and a pool hall so there is plenty to do.
There are schools nearby and Gilles Plains shops aren't far away. It’s also a short trip up to Tea tree plaza, across to Newton or into the city for larger shopping centres.

Paradise interchange for the obahn is close by making the trip into the city easy. However there are also plenty of buses running down northeast road.

Some of the streets are uninspiring, but it’s an area that is located in a good spot.
