Reviews of Home Hill, QLD

"Depends on what you are looking for"

Home Hill is a wonderful town for Children if they love the outdoors. Going to the beach or creek, fishing. I have lived abroad and in 3 of our biggest cities and have to say there is no pool as beautifully presented as the HH pool - it is the best on a hot summers day. HH Bakery makes beautiful fresh bread and the best long donuts (but you have to get in there early). The local shop keepers are always warm and friendly. This little town has beautiful schools and offers a quieter lifestyle that most country towns offer. If nightlife and partying is what your after Home Hill is possibly not for you :)

Great for

  • Best Pool
  • Best Bread and Long donuts
  • Quiet and Safe
  • Super Friendly

Not great for

  • No nightlife

Hi Ally, I'm moving to Ayr to work for the local newspaper and am writing a story about moving to country towns from cities. Do you mind if I interview you about your move to the area? If you could let me know and we can get in contact that would be great. Thanks!- Marina

Contact the hotel that posted the sign 'Europeans F_ck Off' if you want to really savour meaningfully the 'warmth and friendliness' of the local population. This shire is one of the most hostile and unwelcoming in Australia.

Oh, and an academic study should be conducted on the extremely high percentage of leg deformities including bowed legs, Festering/ulcerated legs, purple patched legs and people barely about to totter around due to leg/knee conditions. What is causing this to such a universal extent in one single Shire? Contamination from the cane fields? It's astounding and has to be seen to be believed. Go and visit the main street or supermarkets and just wait around for a few minutes. Someone will shortly stagger past, with their legs, especially the lower leg, in a clearly debilitated state. This is not normal and whatever is causing it has to be addressed.

CapnBazza

This lady must have a helicopter.

SEQLDER

No CapnBazza, all that is in Home Hill and Ayr (accross the bridge and just up the road) and then Townsville is a about an Hour (if you are doing the speed limit, but then the roads could have changes since I lived near there)

"Okay for a while but then boredom takes over."

Probably the worst town I've lived in - very boring and because of this the teens seem to run wild.

Rentals in Home Hill

"Quiet, boring, poor resale value."

Would be good if you like the quiet life, nothing much to do.
