Years ago I would of frowned at this suburb, 10 years later I am impressed by the change for the better.

The housing Commission is all but gone, the roads and infrastructure is excellent and there is plenty of community spirit as the pelople who grew up here can afford to stay, there are not many suburbs this is acheivable.

The restaurants offer affordable dining are are plentiful and lots of choice, chinese, indian, thai, italian as well as your your junk food outlets, a big supermarket complex in ingleburn itself and your big choice macarthur square ( equivilant to westfields) 10 minutes away in Campbelltown.

The crime rate has dropped as the majority of people living there now all own (paying off) their own homes, you can buy brick houses for around $260- $300k which makes mortage repayments cheaper than renting.

Plenty of work in the actual suburb itself and near by Campbelltown, good sporting grounds and the kids in the area actually go outside and play sport on weekends, Mums and dads go and watch and they know each other as most have grown up in the area.

Because the housing is affordable, mortgage repossessions are actually one of the lowest in Sydney which surprised me ay first but it makes sense when you think about it as people will always need a place to live and if it cheaper than renting then it makes a lot of sense.

The parks and play grounds are spacious and there is plenty of them, some of the run down shopping centres are improving by leaps and bounds now that the housing commission is gone.

The schools are still not good though, and the locals need to be proactive with this and get on the backs of Council and local government, the Parents need to take more time to be a more active presence in the schools to make sure things are being done for the better, bullying needs to be addressed as does truency which is still higher than a lot of areas in Sydney.

Overall, pick a good street and take the time to get to know the neighbours as they are very friendly and I was pleasantly surprised by the community spirit and the genuine down to earth attitude of the locals.

Great for young families, people who like a bit of country lifestyle spirit, retirees and people who want to be able to afford to stay where they grew up.

Ingleburn, the rough diamond starting to shine.

I have recently acquired a property situated on a tranquil, tree-lined street. The majority of my neighbours are longstanding tenants, having resided in the area for over a decade. The presence of nearby amenities such as Coles, Woolworths, cafes, banks, and a library enhances the convenience of the location. Additionally, the town centre boasts a diverse array of dining options, including Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese restaurants. In my assessment, this suburb presents an ideal locale for young families seeking a residence featuring spacious accommodations and ample outdoor space, all at an affordable price point.

It’s hilarious that people are promoting this dump of a suburb. There is rubbish everywhere, overgrown grass, dumped trolleys and houses falling apart. The area looks disheveled and down right ugly. The suburb is riddled with crime and full of people who lack respect for their surroundings. This place will never get better unfortunately.

An obnoxious amount of police sirens and helicopter noises at any time of the day.

This is a great place to live/visit. There are multiple park, gyms, walking tracks etc. The River basin is incredibly beautiful also.

Old and tired town

I've lived here since 2014 and found the suburb beautiful, safe, friendly, full of greenery, lots of big parks, close access to shops and shopping centers, good schools, etc. Train to central takes around 35 minutes. Its peaceful, quiet, wide roads, less traffic, good for raising family. Most houses have big lands around 650 sqm unlike the new suburbs where houses are built in close boundaries in 300 sqm lands. Lots of professionals have moved in here and is continuing. Not much houses on sale as people love the suburb here. It comes off M5 exit to head to Airport and towards the city.

I live here and find this place is very convenient. Have access to T8 trains, there are two community parking on each side of the station. Also easy to drive to M31, M7 and M5 motorways. Plenty of shopping centres, and two newly built Bunnings nearby opened this year. Life is peaceful, a lot of birds. Affordable housing prices.

Ingleburn is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 40 kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of City of Campbelltown. It is part of the Macarthur region. Ingleburn is located approximately halfway between the two commercial centres of Liverpool and Campbelltown.

We recently bought a home in Ingleburn (Chester Road) after searching all over Sydney. We never expected the area to be so perfect. Our 4 bedroom house was one of the most affordable we could find in Sydney, and yet it is a skipping distance to Woolworths, Coles, banks and everything we really need on a daily basis. There are schools down the road and daycare facilities all over the suburb. It is a very clean suburb, and although it sounds "industrial", the industrial area is only light industry and very well-kept. Houses have beautiful gardens; the bush is just up the road but far enough not to be a fire threat (!); people say hello to us as they walk past the house, but they don't intrude; we feel safe and very relaxed. The community is multicultural, which we like very much, and we can drive within 35 minutes to the inner west of Sydney (e.g. Burwood), which is a lot less than we imagined as we were willing to move out of Sydney if necessary to buy a house. The train station is also just 15 minutes walk away from where we are. There are many restaurants and take-away shops, and it looks like the council is very active in keeping the area green and at the same time developing economically. I don't know how the schools are, but as there are a good number of Asians, I imagine the schools will increase quite quickly in terms of academic achievement (I am not Asian myself, but I'm speaking as an English tutor). We are also watching the house prices continue to go up despite the recession. Needless to say, we are very surprised and relieved to find the area so humbly wonderful!

Being in a critical rail corridor for the Macarthur, Ingleburn has a very useful and well used train station, sits a touch closer to the airport/Granville train links which is quick to the city, and has a variation of green streets and more contemporary finger-lot townhouses for different types of families and lifestyles. More development will be coming and it looks to be for the better as the suburb experiences upgrades in all aspects.

We never thought of buying in Ingleburn, until one house just popped up and that was it. Very nice people, shops are close by and other suburbs are not far.

Easy access with multiple main arterial roads to use. Great place to find a home and make it yours.

Ingleburn has been improving rapidly in the past few years. The new Ingleburn village has good quality shops. The council has just approved high rise buildings close to the station. Seems like there is a bright future ahead.

I moved here two years ago, as I work in the city and I wanted an affordable decent house with less than an hour travel to Central station and Ingleburn ticked all the boxes.

Pros:
- 45mins train ride to central
- Less than 40mins to Airport, Alexandria, mascot and green square!
- Lots of shops within 2mins drive or 15mins walk. Including coles, woollies, top 4 bank branches & good restaurants
- Aldi and Kmart are only 5mins drive to Minto.
- Macquarie field leisure centre is 5mins drive (Great gym and pool)

Cons:
- Forget about nightlife. There isn't actually good nightlife in almost all southwest so yeah...
- For clothes shopping, you have to either to go to Liverpool's Westfield or Macarthur square. Which is a 15-20mins drive

Ingleburn is so underrated due to the sterotype housing commission community which almost doesn't exist anymore. The city is under consistent development and It seems like a city with a bright future.

My God what a dump!

Very peaceful close to m5 m7 only 45mins drive to central. Lots of bush at the back of the town it stretches all the way to Wollongong. Wollongong is only 50mins drive away. There are a chain of shops that have everything you need including mechanics doctors. Plenty of work for tradies and factory workers here. Also good for professionals being close to the highway. Kids here are respectful and all in all this town has a good vibe.

Moved here after being renting in the eastern suburbs for 10 years . After having our second child it was time to move where we wouldn't be up to our eyeballs in debt . It first we thought it was a gamble and decided to give it a year but this place has exceeded expectations . People are friendly and there's a community spirit that I never seemed to see in the eastern suburbs due to so many renters . It's also very quiet and we don't hear half the amount of sirens. I see my eldest being able to play outside our house now with the other local kids ,he was cooped up and not allowed out because of the large volumes of traffic in the eastern subs . My commute to the city isn't that bad either as it's 40-50 mins to central station . My wife has made plenty of friends and is equally as happy as I am and for our youngest when the time comes there is plenty child care centres new and old . It's got all we need within a kilometre of our house so we are happy with that . So far so good so we are going nowhere

Ingleburn is a great place to live many parks and recreational uses such as gyms, walking tracks, bicycle tracks, neighbouring macquarie fields leisure centre and simmos beach, georges river basin at the top end of ingleburn, there's even a park with gym equipment, and ingleburn library and community hall theres also ingleburn rsl, ingleburn bowling club and ingleburn pub, also ingleburn is 15 mins from macarthur square, campbelltown mall and liverpool shopping centre among many other smaller shopping centres such as glenquarie and ingleburn fair currently in the midst of being renovated as coles will be moving in with woolworths already in ingleburn, there are loads of service stations all around ingleburn too.
Personally ingleburn has the best of both worlds being only roughly just under an hour from Sydney CBD and 25mins from the beautiful beaches of wollongong.
I have lived in minto for 17 years and have lived in ingleburn for the past 2 years but have always gone to schools in ingleburn as neighbouring minto's sarah redfern primary and high school is rough as anything and looks like a rundown jail. Crime and poverty in ingleburn is just as regular as any other suburb in amongst sydney where i live im backing onto henderson rd which is one of the busiest streets in ingleburn and also has a walking track on the opposite side of the road and there is barely ever any disturbances just the regular noises from traffic and some hoons you hear every so often infact the police and ambulances and fire brigades make much more noise with their sirens then any hoon I've ever heard in the area or behind my house and not once have we been broken into in ingleburn where as living in minto we were broken into roughly 5 times. In my opinion ingleburn is the more affluent suburb of the macarthur region prices in ingleburn have always been abit higher then neighbouring areas except for glenfield where prices have risen too ridiculous amounts. Thats all i can think of for now but if anyone notices anything positive that im forgetting then feel free to let me know or mention in the comments below thankyou.

Where I live is mostly nice. Little to no shopping or decent restaurants. Plenty of crime and dillgafs. Most are conceited people who do nicely to prove the general perception of the area. Plenty of fickle people who will be nice to your face and stab you in the back mentality. Bullying is a big issue adults included. The schools need work. If i could at the moment I would move!

I have Lived in Ingleburn for 3 years now, Initally really scared to move so far and also hearing about the commission housing. How things have changed in that time, I havent had any problems in the three years, and the best thing is that I can have a work life balance in Ingleburn because I dont have to pay longer hours to pay the mortgage most undervalued rent in the area for such a good suburb, I can not see my self moving from Ingleburn any time soon.

Ingleburn used to be a peaceful, welcoming and cosy suburb tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney...it still is somewhat. However, there are still a few issues. The stench of local large industrial plants envelopes the low lying areas of the town, in which I currently live. The constant beeping from forklifts and banging of trucks makes sleeping difficult...especially if you are a shiftworker!!
So, if you're considering buying in Ingleburn, you've made a good choice, but stay away from the industrial area if you actually wish to sleep at night.

There are a great deal of car hoons, arrogant, rude and inconsiderate people that really make this otherwise nice place a bit uncomfortable at times. Bad language, low self respect and a "DILLIGAF" attitude runs rampant in this town.
There is theft, graffiti, fighting, vandalism and SMOKING right at the door of the Woolies complex.
Living here is a struggle between the lowlife element of the community and the respectable, hard working and decent citizens of our community.
SO....landlords take note! Stop renting your houses out to feral bogans...always choose the Indian family! There is a very large contingent of people from an Indian background...which is a good thing. The less "Aussie" bogans we have here, the better. Stay in Macquarie Fields please! Better still, get lost altogether.

I'm an Aussie, I have lived in Ingleburn for 23 years and the bogans, yobbos and "lads" are the worst element. If you are one of them...then I guess you'll be right at home in the cheaper part of town. If you are of Indian descent, you will be at home in the nicer parts of town...which is everywhere BUT the housing commision area and some of the older streets.

Cost of rent is absolutely ridiculous! For a tiny shack with no garage, you can expect to pay about $400 a week!! $450 to $600 if your tastes are a bit more discerning.

Convenience is second to none. Easy acces to M5 and M7. Less than an hour to the beach, the Blue Mountains or the city. Public transport is excellent; there are buses everywhere, taxis are always available and the train station is right in the heart of town. 15 minutes to Liverpool or Campbelltown, is good enough for me.

I know this is a mostly negative commentary, but it's the truth. The only solution is to remove the public housing area completely, then the property prices will go up even more.

Overall, it's better than anywhere in the Liverpool area, and that includes Glenfield. And it's not as busy and congested as the newer parts of Campbelltown and Narellan.

nice place to live...the suburb has all the major banks,RTA,centerlink,good eat outs,nice parks,many child cares ,good medical center,affordable living....above all a quiet place away from all the traffic.....i love this place

Very happy about our purchase in Ingleburn.

Good neighbourhod spirit, People gernerally keep to themselves but are very friendly. The suburb is very quiet with not much traffic. There are plenty of child cares and schools within a 5km radius. Great public transport with its own local train station. Well suited for young families.

Plenty of parks, clean and green.... family friendly neighbourhoods.... very central to access everywhere... safe for families and children!!

Very affordable, great value for money. Good excess to public transport, local train and bus services to the city. Also the added bonus of the M5 motor way plus M7 right on your door step. Very quiet, family friendly with plent of leafy parks with bike and walking tracks within walking distance from town centre. Excellent local amenities with all major banks, post office, new local libary, target, woolies, coles, various take ways and local RTA office. highly recommended for young families.

Bought a house here a year ago! This surburb got a lot of potentials!!!! still affordable and not that far from CBD.Easy access to M5, only 30-40 mins drive to city or airport!!!.. not bad at all!!

Lots of parks for kids.. streets are always quite at night!! been here a year and never heard any noise from neighbourhoods... local shops are friendly !!! convenience amenities!!

Ingleburn has near zero facilities (sorry people but Woollies is not the be all & end all).

If you want anything you have to go out of the town for it as all the surrounding suburbs gained the shops or facilities ahead of Ingleburn. Ingleburn has always had an over abundance of hairdressers & estate agents thats about it.

The Ingleburn Chamber of Commerce has long been Ingleburns worst enemy lacking any vision in securing real investment in the towns CBD!

Macquarie Fields & Minto got their respective Aldi's & other chain stores but never Ingleburn? all we have is a Graffitti encrusted KFC! - where is our hardware store when you need it???

No lift or electronic indicators at Ingleburn station & no likelyhood of same either.

An RSL club so far out of town that people get lost finding it!

Crime, graffiti & anti social behaviour in the daytime CBD of Ingleburn has greatly increased also.

As a current resident I would be buying elsewhere now rather than Ingleburn.

I have lived in Ingleburn for nearly 12 years and love it. It's clean, green, quiet, friendly. The suburb doesn't have great shopping facilities but Liverpool, Campbelltown and Macarthur are all within reasonable distance. I work in the city and a number of times have considered moving closer to the CBD, but honestly, I cannot find a better value for money suburb. If anything, property in Ingleburn is undervalued.
