"An eclectic village on the forests edge"

Kallista is in the heart of the Dandenongs and is a small, friendly community made up of a diverse range of people that love living in a forest environment. It has a wonderful vibe with a great cafes, eclectic giftware and homewares shops, bespoke clothing stores and the old school general store where you can pick up all of your daily items including a great bottle of wine all the local goings-on!
The Fire Brigade is a great community group to be a part of as well as the community house, primary school and kinder.
There is good access to the local bus service that takes you into Belgrave where you can grab a movie, enjoy one of the many restaurants or wine bars, or, grab a train into the city.
A beautiful location for those who are looking to escape to a place surrounded by beauty and great people!

"Kallista by the Tree"

A sleepy hollow that is abuzz first Saturday each month with the community market. The early morning sun streams onto Kallista through the Monbulk Valley and neither the cold winter nor hot summer winds transcends down ontothe main street but rather skoot over the top. Tourists trickle through the nearby park and cycling enthusiasts makes the Kallista topographic saddle for their coffe break. No need for gym membership you have the whole National Park at your disposal. With a great Primary School, coffee and pizza shop and kindergarten next door to the rare and antique book shop Kallista offers something for the young and old families

"Green: Where Retirees and Hippies meet"

I spent a short time living in Kallista. I'm not a hippie or a retiree but I did enjoy it. Nestled somewhere thick in rainforest, there's some nice cafe's and the central hub of Belgrave isn't too far away. If you want to be away from the CBD, then this is the perfect place for you as it is a gated community with it's own amenities. It is a tourist town, with busloads coming in every weekend. Employment options are limited. There is some nightlife tucked away. It's all very small and inhabited by the locals. If you live there you'll need a car. It's also quite cold and damp because it's mostly covered by huge green forest. Having said that, the forest is amazing. The houses there, I must say, are quite stunning too. Pricier than I expected but well worth it if peace and quiet is your cup of tea.
