"Friendly, clean suburb with great transport options both public and to get to the city"

Love Kedron. With a suburb so close to the city and Northside shopping hub Chermside, there is plenty of options for this great spot only 7km to the city.

Though the initial work and roadworks while the tunnel/Airport Link was being built made Kedron look like a mess from the outside, the suburb seemed to bounce back quite well. Being a kilometre back from Gympie Road, we did experience a bit of dust and slight noise from all this work but now, the tunnel couldn't be in a better position. Makes getting to the Gold Coast a breeze missing all the traffic lights that Gympie Road has, while a trip into the city or Fortitude Valley is even easier. Taking us only 7 minutes to get in there now.

The only con with the tunnel is not being able to turn right onto Stafford Road and having to go through Padua to be able to turn right and has cause more cars to be in the back streets - but a small con considering the benefits of the tunnel.
Not only with the tunnel but the public transport has improved further with the bus tunnels and new bus stations close by in Gordon Park.

Access to Chermside shopping centre is fantastic as well as a great place to access the airport - with many people now choosing to come visit more often before they jet off elsewhere :)

A friendly suburb - gorgeous leafy tree lined streets around the Padua district where we are as well as many great parks, including Kedron Brook. Great for pets and a good bikeride all the way out to Boondall Wetlands!!!

Highly recommend Kedron for those who want to have the peace and quiet for suburban living but be close enough to the nightlife and inner city living.

"Family friendly"

We loved that there are great schools and parks around us. Shops are within driving distance too. We moved out only because we much prefer rural lifestyle.

"can be great but depends on which bit"

Kedron is a pretty big suburb. We brought here to be close to our relatives who live near the avenues. Down in that area kedron is indeed an attractive place to live. Sadly the street we're on over towards Stafford is pretty much horrible. We get to listen to the neighbors domestics, then there's another house with cars coming and going all day and plenty of unsavory types stumbling out of it at all hours. We've seen the cops visiting different houses 3 times so far, and we've only been here a year.

It looks like things might slowly be improving as some of the blocks have had big mansioney things stuck on them. But there's still plenty of your typical bogan houses too with their permanent curbside cleanup collections ready to go, and cars that never seem to move.

Anyway my advice would be if you want a long term investment, somewhere near here ( behind Stafford rd, Kitchener rd etc) would be great. If you want to move straight in and enjoy a clean and safe suburb, try the kedron on the other side of gympie rd (toward leckie rd etc). It's not totally awful here, but for the price of a mortgage I would've liked slightly nicer neighbors

"The avenues - great part of kedron"

We've been renting here for 6 months now and really love the area. We walk our son to daycare and a massive park is just 5 minutes walk away. Only downside are the barking dogs in our area. They seem to have daily meetings when their owners leave the house. These barking meetings often last all day with the occasional break for a short nap or a drink of water. Would consider buying in the avenues but would definitely find out about neighbouring dogs before putting in an offer.

Great for

  • Community feel
  • Clean, leafy and wide streets
  • Close to parks and school
  • Schools child friendly

Not great for

  • Barking dogs
  • Not all the streets have sidewalks

Rentals in Kedron

"Beautiful suburb"

Kedron is a great suburb. The public transport is more than adequate. There is at least one bus close by every 10 minutes. It has a range of restaurants and fast food chains. Close to the city by bus and car. Close to Chermside shopping centre - with a good range of amenities in the immediate area. Quiet friendly neighbourhoods. Ideal for families with school age children. The only downside is people passing through leaving the pub can be loud on a weekend if you live close to Gympie road.

Great for

  • Amenties shops public transport
  • Schools child friendly

Not great for

  • Occasional noise from drunks coming from pub or louty youth

"Parks and trees galore and childs dream"

have lived in kedron 15 yrs ago moved back and have family who own in area. Lots of parks in walking distance and greenery yet fabulously accessible to public transport, major shopping centres inc westfield chermside, stafford city and Lutwyche..fantastic school which has become popular with out of catchment parents due to it's reputation. Plenty of eating choices including chinese, Indian, Noodles, fish and chips and a fabulous thai restaurant once again all walking distance (as I don't drive ) from Leckie road, convenience stores and bottle shop in walking distance. Very friendly with a lot more families in area with is great for kids yet close to city. Only thing I don't agree with is the lack of pest rating ..have had mouse infestations, ant and rat in two properties which could be due to roadworks and the old possums love kedron due to parks. All over a bit exy in rent but a great suburb to reside in :)

Great for

  • Parks barbees dog park
  • Schools child friendly
  • Amenties shops public transport

Not great for

  • Rodent issues in two places I have lived
  • Occasional noise from drunks coming from pub or louty youth
  • Dust from road

"Kedron is good suburb"

Lovely place Be Honest. If your area is great, then tell us about it! If your area is horrible then tell us about that as well (everyone loves a good dose of gossip), but don't forget to write about the reasons behind your likes and dislikes.

"Happy and settled"

We purchased in Dawn St Kedron in 2005. The Padua precinct is lovely; elevated, breezy and generally very quiet, whilst being very close to Chermside and major arterials like Gympie Rd. The street we are in is great, neighbours are wonderful, lots of kids and a good deal of renovation activity is underway in the surrounding areas. The suburb is very safe and we have heard of no significant criminal activity (break-ins etc). On the downside there are very few local shops and no pubs or cafes of note. Overall, we are very happy in Kedron and think that the suburb will only get better and better!

"Great for Families"

Living in the Avenues is very pleasant. There is a lot of bird life & most people seem to look after their gardens which encourages the birds. There are lots of parks & nice places to play with the kids or walk the dog. Benelong Park is our favourite; it is aimed at younger children and has lots of seating & shelters; even a BBQ. On the whole, traffic isn't a problem & most people are careful around suburban streets. However occaisionally you get idiots speeding around showing off. I hope they get caught by the police, but they're never around. Just as well we have very little crime in the area.
