"Family Friendly northern suburb,Only a 10 minute drive to Hillarys Boat Harbour and the pristine beaches and magnificent Indian Ocean."

Kingsley is a thriving, family friendly northern suburb of Perth situated 18 kilometres north of
Perth's central business district. With easy access to the Mitchell Freeway and the train
station it’s great for the commuters. Only a 10 minute drive to Hillarys Boat Harbour and the
pristine beaches and magnificent Indian Ocean. Yanchep National Park is about 40 mins away where you can get to meet some native fauna and revel in the natural WA bushland. It’s a mere 20 minute journey to the Swan Valley, where you can enjoy the stunning scenery, local wineries and restaurants to indulge in delicious local produce.
With over 5000 diverse homes, Kingsley was thoughtfully planned. There’s abundant
parkland throughout this leafy suburb with easy access is available to the many parklands
and sporting ovals. Lake Goollelal is the jewel in the crown where you see many locals
exercising either jogging, cycling or enjoying their daily walks, particularly with their beloved
pooches. An unusual attraction to Kingsley is The Galaxy Drive In Theatre, the only drive in theatre still in use in Perth.
Your shopping options are excellent in Kingsley. Kingsley Village Shopping Centre is home
to over 30 shops including a brilliant delicatessen, gourmet butcher and several restaurants and cafes. Enjoy a fabulous meal at Kingsley Tavern. Boulevard Plaza, a smaller complex is conveniently located on Moolanda Boulevard. Whitford City Shopping Centre and Joondalup Shopping Centres are conveniently close too. The children’s education has been well catered for with local schools: Creaney Primary School, Dalmain Primary School, Halidon Primary School, Goollelal Primary School, Kingsley Montessori School and neighbouring Woodvale Secondary College or Greenwood Secondary College.
Kingsley is named after the village of Kingsley which is near Winchester in Hampshire,
England. The name was chosen for the historical association with the first owner of land in the area, William Kernot Shenton.

"Great family suburb and great for people who want a quiet location that is beautiful"

I have been fortunate to live in Kingsley. for the past almost 15 years. The street in which I live is like living in the hills and the only sounds usually heard are of the birds and the wind. I live in a double-ended cul-de-sac that has three road islands and a beautiful park on the corner with around 2 hectares of mature tuart trees that were integrated into the area when housing was built. I will live here forever, because the area has both bus and train access and a shopping centre within walking distance. Although it is close to major road arteries, that is not apparent until I leave my street and enter the main roads. My home is 3 kms from the freeway and only a 5 minute walk to Yellagonga Regional Park which has a shared bike/walk path and wildlife of various kinds.

Another positive aspect of Kingsley is that there are many established older homes built solidly and on roads that are wider than those in newer suburbs. Most blocks are at least 500 sq mtrs with gardens that have room for large trees and for growing a variety of plants. Unlike newer suburbs, where there are wall to wall rooves, and wall to wall buildings with no gaps between the houses, and no decent size back gardens. Kingsley has larger properties with space between each home with room for trees, making the area around 10 degrees Celsius cooler than surrounding areas.

The area is safe for families with lots of lovely parks, a vet at Kingsway and another at Kingsley Shopping Centre, a recreation area close by for sports and a dog park, bakeries and a Dome coffee shop in the Kingsley Shopping area. The Kingsway Shopping Centre now has an Aldi store, and there is a Post Office at both Kingsley Shopping Centre and at Kingsway. There are also service stations dotted through the area for refuelling cars.

The area is dog friendly with some groups gathering together daily with their dogs for social meet-ups.

Kingsley is a very safe area and moving to this area would be a great move for all those who want a high standard of comfortable living in an area where there is a great community atmosphere. There are many retirees who live here and houses are mostly owner-occupied and do not come onto the market very often due to the happy residents.

"Lovely suburb"

Kingsley is a great place to raise kids. It has several parks with play equipment, Creaney Primary School looks great, and the suburb has a friendly community feel. I feel safe walking around even after dark from the train station. My family and I plan to stay here for a very long time!

"Great little suburb"

We moved to kingsley two years ago after having lived closer to the city. We had some initial reservations about moving so far out of the city but we need not have worried.

Very safe, green and friendly suburb (dont know where the last two bad comments came from!) I regularly walk around at various hours with no issues at all.

Great parks for the kids and beautiful views across the suburb.

Local shops are great.

Close enough to the beach....without having to drop a MILLION bucks plus on a shed. Big blocks of land and decent spacious houses.

Sub 15mins on the train to work in the city at rush hour ( quicker than my previous commute from wembley!)

All in all great place to live and bring up kids.

Another false review. We dont have nightlife with hoons in Kingsley apart from the Kingsley tavern which is mostly full of 50+. What streets to avoid as I dont know of any bad streets in Kingsley? There are no youth gangs?

George M. you must live in a different part of Kingsley than I do! I have lived in Kingsley for the past 15 years and it is the quietest and most peaceful suburb you are likely to find. Perhaps the Council should start getting involved with the teens and parents of the kids who are causing trouble.

Terry P. why are the police and the Council not becoming involved with all these teen gangs and their parents where you are living. If this is such a problem, then surely you and the others in the community can find a way to address it. The Council is always ready to assist with unsavoury and anti-social behaviour of residents and non-residents.

"A Place to Move to."

I have lived in Kingsley for ten years. My children walked to Goollelal Primary School and and all their friends lived around them. It is a great family suburb with 4 good primary schools. People here are friendly, family orientated and take pride in their homes. There are always people walking or jogging or cycling. There are great cycling tracks around Goollelal Lake and into the city. The Dome cafe is a popular meeting place for cyclists on the weekend. The Kingsley Village shopping centre is open 7 days a week and is always busy. It now has some excellent shops (you can get quality food and wine here!), as well as a very popular IGA. There is a large Woolworths in the neighbouring suburb. Kingsley is a older suburb with the majority of the houses being single storey, 4 bedroom and built in the early 80s, most of these have been renovated to some extent and some completely. There are several parks and sporting ovals and large areas of natural bushland with walking tracks. I walk my dog in the bush every day, but many people go the local park where they meet up and walk around together. The location is really good (the reason we moved here originally). There is quick access to main arterial roads. The Mitchell Freeway runs down the west side of the suburb. It is about 10 minutes to the beach and there are two train stations for the suburb. Kingsley has the feel of a place that is developing and modernising. I love the relaxed and friendly nature of the suburb, the great shops and the location. We have thought about moving several times, but can never find anywhere we would rather live.

"All-around great place to live!"

Having lived in Kingsley for a good 12 years, I can tell you that it is an excellent suburb, where do I begin?

There are plenty of parks and paths for both leisure, weekend sports and exercise, the tranquil Lake Goollelal in the east of the suburb, and a west-east pedestrian path that tranverses all of Kingsley west of Lake Goollelal. Perfect for an evening stroll, walking the dog, playing catch, a bike ride, or just walking to the park or shops.

Speaking of shopping, there are three small shopping centres in Kingsley, one in the suburb's north, containing IGA, butcher's, baker's, liquor store, post office, takeout establishments, Dome coffee shop and more, with the local tavern just to the north. The other two are more to the east of Kingsley, on Moolanda Boulevard, and only have a few shops each. For other shopping needs, Kingsway, Warwick and Whitfords are all within no more than 15 minutes.

The houses were mainly built between the mid-1970s and mid-1980s, some of which need a bit of a fix up, some of which have been renovated, and some of which have been knocked down for new houses, although the original housing stock dominates the suburb by far. There are a few retirement villages in Kingsley, the newest built just a few years ago to the east of Lake Goollelal.

There are four public primary schools in Kingsley, namely Goollelal, Creaney, Dalmain and Halidon Primary, for high school, Woodvale and Greenwood Colleges are close by. I didn't go to any of these schools, so I cannot comment on them, although Woodvale Secondary College has a good reputation.

Update 6/8/2013: There are three churches in Kingsley, Kingsley Community Church on Moolanda Boulevard, an Anglican church in Kingsley's north, bordering Whitfords Avenue, a Baptist church on the corner of Kingsley and Creaney Drives, and a Church of Christ on Barridale Drive. Catholic churches can be found in Greenwood and Woodvale, to the south and north of Kingsley respectively, and a Mormon church can be found another suburb south in Warwick.

Kingsley is also well situated to major transport links, Whitfords train station is in the northwest corner, buses run through Kingsley between it and Warwick station, and Greenwood station is a short drive up Hepburn Avenue. The freeway and Wanneroo Road are also very accessible from Kingsley, via Hepburn and Whitfords Avenues, and if you go a few more kilometres west, you're at the beach and the Hillarys Marina. A few kilometres to the east, and you'll be in Whiteman Park, en route to the beautiful Swan Valley.

Aside from the Kingsley Tavern, mentioned earlier, there are no real places of entertainment or dining in Kingsley, although Warwick, a couple of suburbs south, has a cinema, bowling alley and pool hall. Dining out, unless you're going to the tavern, requires a trip out of the suburb as well, Whitfords, Hillarys and Joondalup provide your dining needs.

All in all, if you can afford to rent or buy in Kingsley, I say go for it!
