"Perfect"

Lake Munmorah is such a perfect suburb. Close to the M1 half way between Sydney & Newcastle. Has access to great schools & backs on to the . With a local chemist, cafe, pizza sho & bottle shop it also has the woolworths shopping centre. I have lived in this suburb & it is one of my favorites.

"National Park + Beaches + Lakes"

Lake Munmorah is surounded by the beauty of nature. Bound by National Park, Lake and Highway - the inability of this suburb to spread afar is one of it's desirable attractions. Popular for families, this suburb offers quiet coastal lifestyle with the convenience of city access close by. With all levels of schools, Lake Munmorah caters for an array of familes.

Local shops include Woolworths, bakery, coffee shops, newsagent and medical facilities. While the timetable is limited, there is bus transport to larger shopping centers
, hospitals and train stations.

Fraser National Park provides great fishing, beaches, picnic spots and hiking trails giving locals the perfectly balanced life. Lake Munmorah is busy with water skiiing during the day and people prawning in the evening. With Lake Macquarie just over the Highway, Lake Munmorah is ideal for those who love all things boating.

"Very quiet & friendly. Good for retirees"

Have just spent a week at Lake Munmorah, have found it very peaceful and quiet. New Woolworths complex is great, people friendly. Will certainly return. Had a car, but noticed bus stops. Locals say the buses run frequently. Very close to large shopping centre at Lake Haven and to the north a good run to Swansea. Seems good for retirees and young families. Not a lot of night life for younger people. Local bowling club, small shops near lake. The lake and surrounds are lovely, great for dog walking.

"Great friendly town"

Visited Lake Munmorah. A undiscovered gem close to Sydney yet still far enough not to be too busy.

It has its own lake where the kids can swim, shops and is close to beaches.

If you want a quieter town this is the place.

The only downside was a prevalence of graffiti which can be attributed to bored kids.

I spoke to a few locals who love the area and were very friendly. Also spoke to local police who confirmed Lake Munmorah is one of the safer suburbs with little trouble.

"coastal living average"

The lake in my opinion is nicer than Lake Maquearie and more natural looking. However it does suffer from the algae in the weed smelling, this is however being improved by the local council and has made a difference. Walking trail is nice and you will not get such a thing in Lake Maquarie only peoples back yards with boats in the way.

Great for

  • Great Beaches
  • Has a nice lake epsecially with the regeneration going on
  • Great for sports lovers

Not great for

  • Lack of clubs to go to unless you travel a while
  • Alot of typical labourer types
  • Houses are mostly ready for wrecking
  • A lot of retirees
  • Public Transport
  • A lot of weirdos in the national park
  • Barking dogs everywhere

"Lake Munmorah"

Lived here for over 25 years. Brought up a family here. People are friendly. A great family place until the kids need work or want to go out partying. No social life for adults or kids. There are a lot of teenagers and they have to drive everywhere. Two of my cars got stolen because there was a party close by and the kids needed to get home. Quite a few robberies often. Not too good for retirees as transport is poor, hospitals, shops or train station are not easily accessible by public transport, actually you can't even get to the train station from here without a car. Roads are for faster driving, not slow driving. Not a safe area to live, due to weirdos in the National Park. Great place if you love barking dogs all day and night. Quite a few incidence of kid grabbing, not by locals, but outsiders. Very hard place to start a business. A lot of shift workers that whinge about day noise. Great if you love sport, especially watersports. People that grew up here are really nice. The more families we get here the better.
Primary and Catholic schools are great.

"A lovely place to raise a family."

I grew up here and am now raising my own children here. I couldn't imagine living any where else. It has the best of both worlds, close to the F3 and shops, but quiet with lakes and beaches in a national park.
