Reviews of Lakelands, WA
"Growing nicely thank you."
Starting to really take shape. We really need a pub (pretty pretty please) and I believe the shopping centre is on its way, hopefully very soon. A train station is a must for all the new housing, even if one happens in Karnup, Lakelands should get one too.

"Like the lake, love the community atmosphere"
Been great living here, nice little community. Handy for the kids to walk to school and the parks after school to keep them outside. Our street has mixed age ranges and is pretty quiet.

"White Elephant or From Ugly Duckling to Swan?"
As good as it can be given the population demographics. Sterile community in the extreme. Not a single corner shop. Over-planned perhaps, streets too wide and not very pedestrian friendly. Roads are like highways and used accordingly. Could be so much better with just a little effort; give it another 10 years. Better would be to get another 5000 people from oversees - anywhere - with a bit of "character".
Needs shopping strip like Rockeby Road with small shops, cafes and a corner bar. And above all needs a train station ASAP. And PLEASE - with Cream and Sugar on top - can we open up the nice gravel track along the rail line so we can walk/cycle all the way to the station both North and South?!
Probably biggest issue with estate is that it covers a very large area with houses spread out a lot - instead of developing one section at a time and expanding it appears that it started big and now it needs to infill - big time.
New entrance road and more policing local streest - any policing - would / should help. Also, everyone seems to park on footpath - too scared to park in street? So pedestrians have to walk on road! Go figure out the logic in that one if you can!
