Liberty Grove, NSW 2138

I have had multiple people visit and be shocked by how nice everything is. It is virtually perfect and it has been wonderful to live here.

After looking all over Sydney for place to buy we found Liberty Grove in 2009. The size of apartments compared to the price (while in a good location) was the best we had seen from our research (without looking any further west). Its a nice green suburb with mature tree's and well maintained gardens with 2 large parks, 2 pools (1 normal size and the other just under half Olympic size for lap swimming), 2 tennis courts, full size basketball courts and a community building (with gym, sauna and other rooms). There are great walks along Rhodes waterfront with great sunsets, the Wetlands in and around Olympic Park surrounding area - and also there is great walk on the concord side on the waterfront if you like to walk a bit further.

I would say Liberty Grove is best suited to families, young couples, retiree's. Parents love it as kids can run themselves silly in the large parks while being close to home and closed of from the rest of the world.

Both Rhodes and Concord West train stations are approx 12 minutes walk and then it is 25 mins to Town Hall. I generally take Rhodes station as it is convenient to walk through Rhodes shopping centre to get your groceries on your walk home. There is no need to drive to the Rhodes shopping centre as it is less than 500 metres away. Rhodes is great with variety of restaurants, cafes, food court, cinema, long riverside walk - but it is also nice to come back to quietness of Liberty Grove, as Rhodes is quite developed these days with a lot of people. But in saying that there is quite a relaxed feel to Rhodes. Weekends can be hectic especially at IKEA !!! Note: save your sanity and go to ikea on week nights.

Being a proud Bulldogs supporter and keen on most sports I love that I can walk over to ANZ Stadium (Olympic Park) and watch a game without having to drive (about 25 mins walk).

For those that shop there is DFO (30 minute walk, couple minutes drive) and Rhodes Shopping Centres (Ikea, Coles + all the usual suspects) (5 mins walk) + top ryde shopping centre (5 mins drive).

Driving wise you have 2 main roads to get to the city (Victoria Rd and Parra Rd) which are similar drive times. Victoria rd is probably quickest. These roads are good for me but in saying that if you drive to work I hear there not much fun !!

Liberty Grove does have a boundary on one side to a train line and the other side to a main rd (Homebush Bay Drive). Ideally you will be wanting a place that faces the park (inwards) so you don't hear that noise. Places that face outwards can be OK but you will have to see for yourself. Places facing outwards have great view but rd is directly below them. I don't know if its noisy or not if you live on a high level. It might be OK.

The drawbacks of Liberty Grove are as follows:

Parking is not great. Most apartments come with 1 or 2 spaces (1 park for 2 bed place, 2 park for 3 bed place) as standard. There are many families these days with 2, 3 or 4 cars so the spaces quickly fill up. It can be a pain if you invite friends over and they have to drive around in circles looking for a space. Hopefully this issue gets resolved soon.

Some people say internet is not great but I have never had any issues but I am not a crazy downloader or work from home person. I think for average person it is OK. I use voda dongle which is not super quick but does the job.

Really peaceful and relaxing, especially in the central areas not near the highway/train line. Get to benefit of all that rhodes has to offer without the cement high rise feel. Lovely greenery and outlook, with easy acces to the train and motorways.

I thought neighbourly spirt was a thing of the past, however since moving into Liberty Grove a discovered what I was missing.
If you think inner west sydney in a handy location, try Liberty Grove. Walking distance to everything possible, no need to drive.

20 mins from anywhere in Sydney. Transport is excellent.
Clean, safe and family friendly. No Student here or welcome!! Students go to Rhodes please!!
Internet and free to air TV is below averge, however alternative options will do.
Community facilities are excellent and well maintained.

This is one of the most central places in Sydney to live in. Ideal for families with young children and professional couples working for blue chip companies, most of which are situated within 5 to 20 minutes driving distance.

Very close to Concord West Public school, Sydney Olympic Park, Rhodes Shopping center and DFO shopping outlets.

This area has attracted a lot of young professionals and families with small children due to its location. It is 20 minutes drive and 15 minutes train to CBD and 20 minutes train to North Ryde which is home to many multinational companies. There are a lot of MNCs just walking distance to Liberty Grove including Nestle and HP which makes this an ideal place to live for people working in those international corporations. You are just a stone's throw away from Ikea homebush mall which is a modern shopping center in Sydney and you are also next to Sydney Olympic Park which has best sporting facilities in the whole country.

The downside is that it is a relatively small community and it can be hard to find a place in Liberty Grove because very so few come on the market due to very high demand. If you plan to move there, give yourself at least 3-4 months to find the best apartments because there are only 30-40 sales in the whole year which also goes to show that residents are relatively very happy with the area.

Compared to Rhodes which is becoming a concrete jungle with little or no planning, this community is privately situated and very well planned. You also come under catchment area of Concord West Public School and it is just an easy 5 minutes walk from most parts of Liberty Grove compared to Rhodes where you would have to cross a very busy Home Bush Bay Drive, a train line and walk for 15 minutes and most of the Rhodes area is excluded from school catchment anyways.

5 min to IKEA and childminding service. 10 min walk to Rhodes station, 14min to Concord West. 10 min to Concord West Primary. Close to Concord Hospital. Walk, drive or ride bikes to Olympic Park. 10 minute bike ride to ANZ stadium, Meadowbank Ferry. 5 min drive to M4, ANZ stadium, Flemington Markets, DFO, Top Ryde Shopping Centre. Lovely bayside walks, both in Homebush Bay and Bray's Bay. Friendly people sharing parks, pools and walkways. Phoenix restaurant and others at Rhodes shopping centre. Gyms in each apartment building as well as a mian one in centre and Rhodes has commercial gyms. Concord West Primary scores excellent results and kids are happy there. In terms of nightlife, Olympic Park, in 2010, hosted AC/DC, U2, Metallica, the Big Day Out and The Royal Easter Show. With olympic standard venues, Olympic Park has Sydney's best stadium, tennis courts, swimming/diving pool, BMX tracks, running and cycling routes and athletics tracks. It also has excellent, quiet parks with quite a rural feel at night. There are top quality hotels and Business Parks in the area, the former catering for big events in the park. 3 Rugby League sides, State of Origin, the RL Grand Final, one AFL team, including semi-finals and the 20/20 Cricket are played here. None of the events mentioned above seem to have any impact on life in Liberty Grove except for the fireworks show at 9pm each night during the Royal Easter Show.

There are next to no internet options in Liberty Grove. There is no cable, no ADSL (except for a lucky few and through Telstra only). The only real option is mobile broadband, which has its limitations and lately has had next to no service.
For the past few weeks our mobile broadband has been working off the 2G network which may as well mean it is not working!!!
Anyone wanting to work from home at Liberty Grove - don't move there!

I've been living in Liberty Grove for 5 years and I love it. It's 30 mins from the city and out west. The location is great!

Yes, Liberty Grove is next to the highway but it doesn't affect you if you are at home or out! I've never been suck in traffic trying to get in Liberty Grove!

I feel very safe here. It's close to public transport, parks, schools.
