Good for families and great shopping at Lidcombe Marketplace shopping centre.
Close to Olympic park precinct and centrally located to everywhere with excellent train and transport.

It has a lot of rubbish out the front of the apartments, and our outdoor furniture was stolen from our front yard inside our fenced property. Everyone has bars on their windows due to alot of break ins and crime. The parks are always filthy with rubbish and aren’t maintained.
The high rise apartments recently built have added to the traffic congestion which makes parking difficult.

I lived in Lidcombe for 40 years and moved to Melbourne in 2000. I used to come back regularly until 2010 when Mum passed. I went back for the first time in January and was absolutely gob smacked by what's happened. So much traffic apartment's everywhere and more under construction. Very little in the way of road upgrades and I cannot believe how much stuff is just dumped in front of the older units near the shopping centre. We live in the suburb for almost six years and we love to live here forever. Enjoy the calm life with all the amenities closer.

I've lived here for just under a year now, and I love it. The people are lovely, and the amenities are great.
It's a melting pot of cultures living harmoniously and it's also vibrant! You're also close to a huge range of interesting suburbs - all with their unique personalities. Location-wise, it's conveniently lodged between Parra and the city with a large train station.
So far so good!

Lidcombe is a suburb that has all the convenience of close propinquity to Flemington markets, Chullora shopping centre, Strathfield Plaza and a variety of other things, but it doesn’t feel particularly calm an atmosphere. There happens to be a swarm of industrial services here, so unattractive places scattered here and there. It is a major station - the terminal point, so I suppose overcrowding would a problem to some degree, but not to the extent of something like Strathfield. You’re better off going for the waterside suburb of Silverwater, where you can still manage to access 5e north shore via Strathfield station and all the amenities including top notch schools in Burwood, Strathfield, etc.

I really love the neighbourhood as my neighbours are so friendly and respect each other's privacy . It is convenient to go north south east west as we have as lidcombe station is a major station , lidcombe shopping centre is convenient as well , with Costco , lots of restaurants and Dooleys . The only thing is lack of good schools here . But overall location wise we are 25 minutes from CBD , 20 minutes from Paramatta we are living in all the centralize location . There are mainly Koreans and Chinese dominated area .

Lidcombe is well into a transformation phase with many new homes being built and young families moving into this once working class suburb. With some extensive unit development close to the station it offers many options for those wanting an affordable home within a half hour trip to the centre of Sydney. The rail link is excellent, offering easy access to the city and Parrramatta. It has moderate climate, not the oppressive heat of many outer suburbs. Land size is generous and well serviced by council. The shopping strip is well laid out and lends itself to being turned into a restaurant destination, especially on the southern side where a series of early shopfronts are still in use. It could be a very exciting outdoor dining area with some imagination. As it is is still has some charm. Some cute little streets are Bernard and Raymond on the southern side which are both within walking distance of the station. It is a great place to live with great public schools. Dooleys has taken over the northern side but they do provide local employment. This place is a real estate hot spot!

I have lived here in Lidcombe fro the past 6 years and it has been a great place to live in. And now Costco is just down the road, all my friends are envying me as it is the only Costco fro the whole of NSW, in my neighbouhood. You can get evrything there, meat, fish, vegetables to all food stuff, they also sell electronics and jewellery ! All in one roof ! The most important thing for me is safety, as I have walked home on so many occasions coming home late after my bar work on the nightride, and it has always been safe. I highly recommend people to take an evening walk around the suburb, you will see beautiful green fields, people playing with their children and their dogs and some beautiful massive houses.

The place is so quiet and tranquil as you can hear birds chirping away and practically no traffic noise and yet I am so close to M4 and the station. The station has fast trains to the city and has trains to north, south and west. Recently it has metro bus number M72 going to Cronulla via Padstow. Overall the property prices has skyrocketed in this suburb because of Costco.

I like the transport here, but considering no local shopping centre, Lidcombe public shcool is just ok, hope council will update facility as more and more apartment being built. Safety could be issue as well. I would not recommend to families.

We enjoy living in Lidcombe as it has excellent public transport, only 25 mins to the CBD. It also has Cosco opening at the end of John Street later this year and lots of friendly neighbourhood shops offering fresh food at very good prices.

The residents are friendly and the area is safe. We have lived here for 6 years and raised our kids here.

I would recommend it as agood all round suburb.

I love Lidcombe, they have a dooleys club, great for friday adn saturday nights, watching football, drinking beer, hanging out with friends. Transport is excellent and it's getting really clean!

Convenient location, relatively cheap rent and house price

I've been living in Lidcombe for the last 18 years. Very quiet area with a large Train station facility that makes transport very accessible. Qucik drive to Auburn where Big w, Woolworth/Aldi/Coles and soon costco can be accessed.

Having lived in lidcombe for 3 years i have not had any problems with the place the places to eat are fairly priced with a variety of places to eat including thai, vietnamese, filipino, japanese or korean, otherwise they have dooleys. The only complaint i can think of is a need for a shopping center with a supermarket and some a department store like a kmart ot target but other then that no other major complaints and being a major train station have frequent trains.

Situated in the western suburbs of sydney and locally governed by Auburn Council, Lidcombe is close to transport and available amenities. Though, it is not ideal for the growing family. Night life and safety is a bit of a concern. Driving preferred instead of walking - especially when accompanying young ones.

We've lived in Lidcombe for about 8 years now. We just love the location - the train station has at least 3 lines that pass through: Western Line, South Line (Campbelltown), Richmond line, which means during Peak Hour, my average wait at the station is 4-5 mins for a train. I commute to the city Monday to Friday and because of the frequency of trains, I never need to rely on a timetable. That's probably the reason why I'm seeing more & more people use Lidcombe as their commuting station even though they live in neighbouring suburbs.

Another thing I love about Lidcombe, is the fact that I can get wherever I want to go, North, South, East or West in about 30mins, in the car (or less if my destination has a train station). For eg. around 30mins to Chatswood, Hurstville, Blacktown, and even less to the City.

I also love the fact that Lidcombe is so close to Olympic Park. With an increasing amount of shows choosing Acer Arena over the Entertainment Centre, getting dropped off at Olympic Park rather than pay for expensive parking has been very convenient. Attending other events like the Easter Show, and others, has also similarly been a breeze. Another fave are the cheaper court hires at the Sports Hall, Olympic Park, eg. Badminton @ $15/hour.

Other loves about Lidcombe are: quick entry into the M4 motorway; good local Korean, Vietnamese restaurants, good local dentist ;), Post Office, DFO @ Homebush Bay, and factory outlets such as Nike, Victorias Basement near by.

Lidcombe is a nice, quiet and clean suburb that is about a twenty minutes drive from the city. The streets are lined with neat and tidy houses and there is plenty of greenery, in the form of parks and trees, in Lidcombe.

Lidcombe is also very accessible by train and the trains do come fairly frequently. In the main part of Lidcombe, you can find the Dooley's Club, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, a pub and convenience stores. There are also many public and Catholic schools around the area and hence making Lidcombe a very convenient suburb for families with school age children.

There are plenty of parking on the streets of Lidcombe and often, when there is a major event at Sydney Olympic Park, commuters will elect to park their cars at Lidcombe and catch the train to the event. In all, Lidcombe is a great and convenient place for families to live in.
