"Great Place to Grow Up"

Having been born here only a short 22 years ago, Longreach was the ideal place to grow up.

Longreach is a major centre for many - including rural business and tourism. We are home to the iconic Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Outback Museum. There are many other award winning tourist attractions which include the Thomson River boat cruises and Heartland Theatre.

Tourism aside - Longreach is a very easy place to seek employment, being a Government base for Education & Health in the area. If it is hospitality you are interested in there is no lack of restaurants and cafe's in Longreach. Retail is also quite a large employer.

If you are young or are seeking the ideal place for your children's upbringing, Longreach is the perfect place. Being small enough to allow some slack, however large enough with attractions to keep people busy. For the slightly older generation, the night life proves to be quite impressive and there is always some sort of community event going on, whether your socializing at the races or enjoying a few at the bar at the Longreach Show.

Having lived in other towns / cities, I highly recommend Longreach to everyone - especially those looking for the ideal place to raise your children.

"If the country atmosphere and a great place to raise a family is what you're after, Longreach is where you need to be!"

Being born here, I may be a bit biased but I absolutely love Longreach and couldn't bring myself to move away in the foreseeable future. Having done a 10-year stint in a larger town closer to the coast, it really proves that there is no place like home. I couldn't wait to get back!

The people are friendly and if you meet a local, you can guarantee that they will remember you and strike up a conversation wherever you meet!

There is a broad range of business opportunities, covering all bases from hospitality and tourism, to the health & education sector, retail or almost any trade.

In terms of housing and accommodation, there is almost always a house on the sales and rental market which would suit any needs.

If you crave the nightlife or love to get and about, there are a number of pubs and restaurants that will try their best to cater for all needs. There is always something happening, being a Rodeo, Trivia Night, Fundraising Event (some quite amusing!) or a Karaoke Night at the RSL. The close-by Thompson River proves to be a favourite on the warmer days, whether you're going for a ski, want to try your luck fishing or just want to sit under a shady tree while the kids and dogs frolic in the cool water. There are a number of tourist attractions which bring thousands of visitors each year, but mainly in the cooler, winter months.

We may be far from the coast and city life, but if you let it, Longreach will be sure to satisfy whatever wants or needs you desire.

"Great Place to raise a family"

Longreach is a wonderful safe town, it is a great place to raise a family, we have lived here for 3 years and the people are friendly and everyone has great community spirit. Why not come out and try it. You will not be caught in traffic again. You will always be able to get a carpark at school. You will gain hours of free time each week to spend with people you love. And we have direct flights to Brisbane daily and twice weekly to townsville.

Come and experience what we have and love.

"Longreach - Thrieving inland town with good growth."

Longreach is situated 687 kms west of Rockhampton, on the Matilda Hwy. The climate here can be very warm and dry in the summer with cool winter’s nights. Longreach has some unique attractions such as the Stockman's Hall of Fame, a real working Sheep Station to visit, the Qantas Founders Museum, the Powerhouse Museum or you can take a ride on a Cobb & Co Coach. For accommodation options there is the Longreach Motor Inn which offers great facilities as well as caravan and camping parks, motels etc. Due to the inland location home prices are very affordable and Longreach has some excellent education facilities as well as sporting and recreational clubs and associations.
