"Getting Bigger & Better"

Macquarie Park is an excellent place to live. Lane Cove River Park surrounds most of the area bordering Pymble and West Linfield but also includes the business district that is Sydney’s North Shore business base.
It is a ten minute drive to Chatswood or a 20mins the drive into the city. Public transport access is plentiful.
It is safe and convenient with lots of eating places and things to see and do.

"Great location"

Macquarie Park is an excellent suburb which has metro train, uni, macquarie shopping centers and business center. The suburb is also great for families as there are lots of big local parks such as Tuckwell and Fontenoy Park. There are also lots of big development going on in this suburb so when everything is completed you would expect that it becomes a CBD on it's own.

"Lots of redevelopment and change"

At first glance, Macquarie Park offers a relatively affordable route into the northern suburbs of Sydney with plenty of excellent parklands and trails, and all the shops and public transport you could need. These aspects are what drew us to the area when we moved here only 18 months ago. However, the pace of change (and volume of demolition/construction noise) is quite frightening, and I would avoid living in the suburb for at least the next 2 to 3 years.

Firstly, please avoid renting in an older apartment block to the south of Macquarie University Station (e.g. Cottonwood Crescent/Herring Road) unless you are planning a short stay, as this area has been rezoned for high-rise development and all of these blocks are slated for demolition and redevelopment. Secondly, the traffic is getting seriously bad and this will only worsen during the train line closure. Thirdly, there is construction noise everywhere (and at all hours) especially on Herring Road and around the Ivanhoe Estate which will keep light sleepers awake during the night. Finally, the shopping centre is great but there is a distinct lack of village feel with no Main Street to walk around, meaning the community feel is quite lacking.

Macquarie Park will probably look like Chatswood in 10 years time. I’m sure it will be a great place to live once everything is finished, if you like high density unit developments. To call this place “in transition” would be an understatement - Macquarie Park is being entirely rebuilt.

First of all, Macquarie Park is not a northern suburb. It is north-west suburb. I drove pass it recently and I can say those new apartments resembles the look of the Opal tower built at a rush. They are soulless. They are lack of character and has no originality.
In the years to come, those building with cheap material will fade away under the harsh climate of the Western basin. The apartments will be trashed by the mass of students and the whole area will become a ghetto.

The Opal Tower Incidence involves lots of factors, you can't just blame the constructor. Actually the designer and geologist of the opal tower should take the major responsibility, the constructor just build the building based on the design blue print.

Non3 sorry to disappoint but yes, Macquarie Park is a Northern Suburb plus those high rise apartments are still standing. Havent seen anything that resembles the Opal Towers incident. Does not even compare

"All you need!"

Macquarie Park is getting quite busy but still a beautiful area to live as it is surrounded by forests and parks. Everything you need can be found at the massive macquarie centre which is in the heart of the suburb making for very convenient living! Lots of apartment living around and not many houses, is perfect for the working person/couple.

Macquarie Park has recently been rezoned for development, therefore many of the older unit blocks around the area will probably be bought off by some big developer and you will see a lot more larger complexes such as MQ Central and 88 Talavera Rd. Big things to come for Macquarie Park

"The Area by Elusive Property"

I first lived in Macquarie Park, on Herring road back in 1990, before the trains made it so much more convenient. I'm glad to say that over the years the area has continued to improve, and I'm sure it will keep getting better. With New developments such as MQ central on Herring Rd. and now 88 Talavera Rd by Meriton, I would expect the prices to continue to show strong growth.
Macquarie Park has everything you need within walking distance and the suburb is next to none when it comes to public transport and utilities. Trains and buses service the entire area and if you don’t want to walk to a train station, most likely there is a bus stop close-by going in every direction such as the City, Parramatta and the Northern Beaches.
The shopping centre is also outstanding with great eateries and coffee shops as well as fashion, groceries and even a Medical Centre.
Macquarie University is well respected around the world as a leading university which attracts many students, and also the many corporate buildings in the area means that all rental properties will be snapped up in no time.
If you’re looking for a great area to move to, or invest, don’t look any further.

"Great suburb which tixes all the boxes"

I have 2 investment properties in Macquarie Park and find bang for your buck is really second to none. Macquarie Park is in such central location and has a train station, major shopping centre, city buses, Universty, Major business park, Parks and walking tracks and the list goes on. Considering Mac Park has all of these facilites its still very affordable and attainable, rents are cheap considering and prices are still also very affordable. I think Macquarie Park can only head up from here.

"Ticks all the boxes"

The clincher for this area is the new train line. It already had tremendous advantages - pretty good proximity to city, good bus transport, M2 motorway, major shopping centre, university, playing fields, national park, major employment areas nearby etc etc, but that train line now gives enormous new options for getting around without depending on choked Sydney roads. Throw in the new hospital and it's very hard to see how this area won't keep heading upwards.

"Business Shops Uni"

Macquarie Park has in the last 20 years developed into a massive business centre, with the likes of Optus and Goodman Fielder being headquartered there. Add to the mixture of technology based companies is the Macquarie University Campus and associated student accommodation options, and the Macquarie Shopping Centre (Myer, Big W, Target, Woolworths, Franklins and specialty stores). In February 2009 the Macquarie Uni train station, a stop on the new Epping to Chatswood was opened.
