Hi, I live on the goldcoast and really want to move to magnetic island!

The good news is that the least of your worries should be the weather! It is hot and sunny nearly all year round, we haven't had much rain for a few years now, probably only about 2 weeks or so where it rains a lot, I think we've only had one or two storms this year. If you're looking for laid-back, beachy, peace and quiet, relaxed living then Maggie Island could be for you. The house prices on Maggie are astronomical, I guess you really pay for that view of the ocean from your doorstep, but maybe you could find something affordable if you do a lot of research and if you are willing to renovate a run down house? Maggie has it's own grocery store, restuarants, pubs, medical centre, loads of tourist accommodation and a few shops and it takes about 40 mins by ferry to and from Townsville. You can drive around the whole island leisurely in a very short time. If the weather is too windy and the sea too rough then you might get stranded either on the island unable to get to the mainland or on the mainland unable to get home. This doesn't happen very often but it does happen as I know a few people who live on the island and they miss work occasionally. The people I know who live on the island absolutely love it and call it paradise, but of course everyone is different and you need to work out if it's the place for you. It's certainly way different to the Gold Coast. Hope this helps a little.

Townsville is very hot and humid in summer. No joke. I live in Proserpine, we have a great lifestyle and our climate is far more agreeable.
