"The secret is out."

The secret is out. Malabar is a great place to live with a relaxed community feel. The prices now seem to reflect the fact that its no longer a secret.

"The suburb that Sydney forgot"

Malabar is nestled in a corner between the parklands south of Maroubra, the pacific, Randwick Golf Course and Little Bay. It's tucked away behind Long Bay jail, which has all it's entries and exits facing away from Malabar. The suburb is quiet and friendly with far fewer units than the rest of the eastern suburbs. The houses tend to have greener gardens and the streets are a little leafier than the surrounding suburbs. The Beach Cafe' , the Light-hearted Cafe' and Nostimo's are all great cafe's for breakfasts or lunch. There are good walkways to get around and limited but adequate buses into the city. Cyclists come through the neighborhood often on their way to La Perouse. Bay Parade is a great weekend walk, and you can end off at the golf course for a cold beer. It's really a small town inside of Sydney.

  • Just that little bit too far from the CBD

"Rare pocket of Sydney beach/village life"

One of the last of Sydney's fabulous beachside suburbs to retain it's originality. Village feel yet moments away from everything.

Within 5 min's of Malabar you have access to: Snorkling, Surfing, A boat ramp, ocean rock pool, golf courses, schools, churches, cafes, children's play ground, rifle range, horse riding school, RSL Club, bushwalking, fishing, gyms, shopping, restaurants.....the list goes on!

A wonderful family suburb, fast becoming a very highly regarded locale.

Rentals in Malabar

"Pleasant Malabar"

The Sydney coastal suburb of Malabar is 12 kilometres south east of the CBD, in the local government area of the City of Randwick and part of the Eastern Suburbs. It is bordered by Maroubra to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the east, Little Bay to the south and Matraville and Chifley to the west and has a population of about 4,600, 17% of whom are under 18 and 22% are over 60.

It is mainly a residential area with a mix of separate houses and medium and high density apartments. The average price for houses is $1.1 million and for units $495,000.

Malabar Beach is sheltered by Long Bay. The beach is not patrolled but it offers many aquatic activities such as swimming, snorkelling fishing and boating. Behind the beach is Cromwell Park a nice venue for picnicking and jogging.

Randwick Golf Course is situated in Malabar offering a challenging short course to both members and casual players. Views from most of the holes are quite spectacular over the ocean.

There is a small group of shops and cafes in the suburb. There are two primary schools, one government and one Catholic. Older children travel to neighbouring suburbs for high school.
