Reviews of Mandurah, WA

"Don't live here!"

Dodgy con artist businesses, rude and racist customer service everywhere, abusive council and schools if you have children. Do not recommend living here, and if you are renting the real estate agents are very unprofessional. This is a tourist town that relies on taking money where they're not experienced or caring to do so. They are a close net of people that are very particular about who comes into their community they want you to be a Hipster paying $10 for coffee and funding their churches.

"Mandurah"

Mandurah is lovely, so many schools, shops, houses, beaches, so many opportunities and extra curricular activities, friendly people and the foreshore that is being renovated is just beautiful! Such a great vibe, you gotta come visit it's an amazing place to live with kids and so many schools to choose from. Just 45 minutes from Perth and 2 hours to Dunsbourough! There's no where else I'd want to be.

"We choose you"

We've travelled around Australia and couldn't get passed Mandurah. It has the best of all worlds. Mountains, beach, winery region, marinas and gorgeous weather most of the year. We love the people and the ease of getting around on bikes or by car to visit our favourite eateries... A stunning place to live... but shhhh don't tell everyone or they'll all want to come here

Rentals in Mandurah

"A gem of a place"

I'm from Victoria and I will say this. You will not find another place anywhere in Australia that offers what Mandurah does. With amazing beaches at your doorstep, and only a 50 minute train ride into Perth city, then considering the affordable housing, sorry, but you won't find such a place anywhere else. I've lived all over Australia, and I can attest to the fact that this place is a gem. With that said, I believe the house prices will sky rocket in the future as more and more people discover this place. Particularly overseas and interstate investors. There's a good range of restaurants and cafes, and all the major shops you could ever need. In addition to the stunning beaches, the Peel Inlet is a huge asset and draw card. I think the people complaining about cost of living are renters that don't want to see prices increase, though all I can say is go and visit Melbourne or Sydney and you will then know what expensive is. I wont be going anywhere. This place offers everything I need for my family and more, and I enjoy the commute to the CBD for work. You can't beat this small parcel of paradise for value, quality of life and clean air!

So you can understand why Mandurah was one of the places that the Fed government trialed those welfare cards here

"Affordable Family Living"

Whilst I don't live in Mandurah, I run a real estate business and I am constantly surprised at the affordability for quality homes in the area. With only being a 45min train commute to the City, I would be seriously considering Mandurah if you have a small family and looking for a big family home.
Close to the beaches and everything on your doorstep makes it a simple easy family life.

"Run Run away"

All you need to know is, it's a clicky place, it's still on the same page as Waroona (not with the times), when you see other cities in Australia this place looks more and more uneducated, it's a very opinionated town, very sensitive about their way or the highway. Once you live in Perth, you'll never want to return here.

Wow, with such a large population, perhaps it was your small circle that were opinionated. Or was it that people just disagreed with you in general? Usually people attract like minded people into their lives. Food for thought. To rate such a beautiful place a 1 out of 5 tells me a lot about you.

not sure about the housing pricing being high when you consider what you get compared to perth?

and considering crime rate is high and unemployment

Housing prices are more than affordable. Noosa is an equivalent town on the seaside in Queensland. See if you can get a 3x1 house there for $300k. Not a chance. Median house price in Noosa is $1.1 Million. Median house price in Mandurah is $245,000. I could show you examples in Victoria and NSW as well. Have a look at prices in Newcastle or Mornington Peninsula. I don't think you know how good you have it here.

"Nice place to visit"

Mandurah's a nice little area. It's been developing a lot over the years, and it's value has gone up as a result. Bit too far from the city unfortunetely.

Agree, lived there 20 years ago, of course things have changed a lot since then.
Still too far from the city to go there that often, but most things are already there in town.
Beaches are overrated tbh.
Would still live there again, but probably not going to happen.

"Best Location in Mandurah - same house in Perth with similar water views would cost a buyer twice as expense"

Mandurah, almost a suburb of Perth with the new opening of the freeway south, township has good vision for the future growth of the region. Mandurah offers a relaxed life style with all water activities available, but still remains close enough to the Perth CBD in need for those requiring with business access.

Township was one of the fastest growth areas in the 2007, but has eased back as a result of the GFC, however with the continued urban sprawl between coastal regions and the Perth CBD properties are still far more affordable for the same "like type" properties with views in Perth.

"Beautiful place but overpriced."

Outside Perth, Mandurah is the largest city in WA and is recognized as one of the fastest growing as well. Situated on the Peel-Harvey Estuary 72 kms from Perth, Mandurah was once nothing more than a holiday area. Mandurah is a pretty town with the foreshore being home to pelicans, shags, dolphins and other marine life. One of the main industries in the area is construction and many of the workers are trades people. Tourism is also big here and the hospitality industry employs many people. The city has some great waterways and beaches with fishing and boating, swimming and other water sports extremely popular. Mandurah has excellent shopping facilities with shops to cater for all your needs. There is a good selection of restaurants and fast food outlets as well as hotels and clubs offering good entertainment. Sport is well catered for with many venues for different sports and activities. There are some excellent medical centres, hospital and allied health professionals. Mandurah is with easy access to via the motorway. Unfortunately all this comes at a price and Mandurah home and rental prices are now making it one of the least affordable places in WA to settle.

"Unfortunately all this comes at a price and Mandurah home and rental prices are now making it one of the least affordable places in WA to settle." I do not agree with your opinion that Mandurah is overpriced, I indeed believe it is quite under valued. In the Mandurah area, you are able to purchase a 4x2 home in a nice area (such as Halls Head, Erskine) for under $350,000. 3x1 homes are able to be purchased for even less with occasional 3x1 homes in Halls Head selling for less than $300,000. Find that value in Perth or any other similar location in Australia! The only overpriced properties in Mandurah are the top end, over $850,000 with many of the canal properties being overpriced by hundreds of thousands, as with Marina properties (in the Mandurah Ocean Marina development). With rental property prices, you are able to rent a home from about $250 p/w. Perth rental prices for a similar property are at least $100 extra p/w! Rent a home in Mandurah or a unit in a terrible area in Perth for the same price? Decision is yours.

That is just my opinion.

We have done our research as we are relocating in 2021 and Mandurah is amazing in every way and we have lived in many parts of the world. Those who wrote it is expensive: I think they ahve no idea of what residentails sales and rentals are in Australia: Mandurah is absolutely delighteful and, it will meet our high expectations to a T. Thanks.

"Hold on Mandurah, Perth is coming to get you."

Mandurah is coastal city 72kms south of Perth. The growth rate in Mandurah during 2008 was 5.9%. Now that is fast! What has been happening that has certainly made Mandurah a town to go to, is the fact that there has been some very clever planning to make this city one that retains its atmosphere, enjoys the lifestyle, but keeps on offering more.

In the planning of Mandurah a lot of emphasis has been put on water activities and investments. There is now a new world class marina and several canal systems which allow access to the sea. These systems are always a big attraction for the water loving Australian.

Mandurah seems to offer it all: recreation boating, swimming, fishing, water skiing, crabbing; all being supported with various annual events.

Because it is such close proximity to Perth one would have to wonder when the two will meet. Perth has, in latter years, grown at a rapid rate as well.

Because it is only 72kms to Perth, even if you could not get employment in Mandurah, it is not too far to travel to Perth. It all seems the idyllic lifestyle.
