Reviews of Maturin Avenue, Christies Beach

"Hop, skip and jump away from a beautiful beach ."

I have lived here since 1993, moved to NZ for 5 years and missed this awesome area the whole time i was there.
We love the quietness of the street The conveniance of being close to everything, since we returned they have made the highway two way and it takes all of, 25 mins to the city centre . This little suburb is really starting to become very popular , give it 10 years and i believe it will be up there with our beach suburb cousins down the hill.

"Pros and cons"

Maturin Avenue has a few cons to it. Firstly it has a school located towards one end and for this reason it can have high traffic periods causing frustration with some home owners as cars park across some drive ways. A part from that activity the street is generally quiet. It is within walking distance to Beach Road which offers all types of businesses, doctors, take out food and much more.

"Easy access to all facilities"

Maturin Avenue offers diversity of housing styles ranging from former beach cottages to new courtyard homes and double storey homes. The generally larger blocks in this area make it particularly attracive to families with young active children, investors & developers looking ar future re-development opportunities. While retiree's like the easy access to all Beach road facilities they are not overly interested in the larger blocks.Hence this is where the developer who demolishes an older home and puts in place a pair of villas or courtyard homes has a ready clientele. Most of these buyers prefer blocks with street frontage rather than the 'hammerhead'style that can be found dotted around. Some of the sites are able to secure good views across the Southern Ranges and the Ocean. The beach is easily accessed courtesy of the walkway from Roy Terrace through to the Esplanade. We have seen strong growth and good rental yields in the area and would envisage this will only continue as the area matures and develops further.
