Mentone, VIC 3194

I lived in Mentone for 2 years and I totally love the area. Is that place that you feel comfy, safe, is where I have a belong/home feeling in Australia (I'm from overseas).
It is great for family, you can walk tranquil and calm, people are gentle and kind. The shopping centre is great, there are plenty of playgrounds and parks, it is nearby DFO Moorabbin, Costco... good public transport, train station is being renewed. I simply love it!
The beach is good (but it's what I like less). And we can't forget the schools, they are great. My child is not school age yet but I really would like him to study in Mentone.

Mentone resides within the zone of many top Bayside schools so it attracts affluent families. The people of Mentone are friendly and the town is vibrant. Median house prices have gone up considerably over the last 3-5 years. A lot of work is planned in Mentone including the level crossing removal to ease traffic congestion and shopping precinct redevelopment. The best parts of Mentone are near the village. Only downside would be that some of the apartment developments approved by Kingston council are rather ugly and quite large, but that attracts other benefits.

Great place to live, no violence, local train station and local fire station

My 2nd Preference to live in Melbourne. It is peaceful and there are lots of Parks, Shops and Schools close by!

I love Mentone it is a safe and beautiful suburb - close to the beach, all shops you would need and has a great sense of community.

Mentone has improved over the years, apartments, shops, and also cafe's bars which are great for nightlife! We have great neighbours and great company! Always quiet when we want it to be!

I have lived beachside Mentone close to Balcombe and Charman roads for 7 years now and my two daughter attended MGSC. What a delightful area and a slightly dignified community we live in here. Is it a secret suburb you may ask? well look at the location south of Nepean hwy and all the infrastructure provided and your answer will delight. Do your homework on this hidden treasure and like me you will have a grin from ear to ear.

I've just bought a property in Mentone after considering some of the other beach suburbs. It has excellent public transport, many shops/cafes and of course southland shopping centre nearby. The schools, i hear, are highly regarded (handy if/when you have kids). We hope to be in Mentone for many years and i would recommend Mentone anyday.

Having lived in Mentone for quite a few years now, I would not want to live anywhere else. It's close enough to the City that my daily commute is bearable, and public transport is easy to get.
Plenty of parks and trees make it a very green area, with the local council maintaining everything nicely (unlike my previous area).

Every one is friendly, and for the people that say it has no night life, you obviously haven't looked hard enough. If you get bored of the Mentone's local shops/pubs, it's very close to Mordialoc and Cheltenham which both have whatever you could wish for.

Mentone is well serviced by shops, beachfront cafes, transport, beaches, walk to a great pub - everything you would need.

Mentone has many schools which are second to none both private and public.

There is Southland, DFO and Chaddy just down Warrigal road to satisfy your retail needs.

There is the train and bus to get you around but if you are driving the city in morning peak (along Nepean Hwy) is about 55mins.

Mentone is surrounded by the suburbs like Beaumaris, Cheltenham, Parkdale and Mordialloc, which all offer the cafe lifestyle most of us now enjoy.

There are many sporting groups, parks, play grounds and of course the beach to spend precious family time with the kids.

Why not come for a visit.

There are some really Fantastic points about Mentone and id live anywhere else but on MENTONE PARADE NEAR THE PUB. I have spent so much money in the time ive lived here, Ive had my windscreen smashed, my flatmates sisters husbands rear window smashed. My flatmates tires slashed. Neighbours cars vandalised. This is a weekly event here it happens around closing time of the pub around 2-3am saturday/ friday night and also sometimes wednesday (uni night). I would not consider this safe to walk at night on these days as there are wild teenagers (between 18 and 25) walking around with weapons blind drunk smashing cars along thier way to wherever they came from. The police are doing nothing unless they are caught in the act, ive lived here 2 years and nothing has been done. We heard from neighbours this has been going on before we got here. We live in the set of units of 30 mentone parade....and im getting ready to leave im desperating looking for another safer place to call home. What a nightmare.
If you lived away from the pub and this street thats fine mentone is fantasic place to be. Quiet and beautiful. Its a shame they wont close that pub down it would make this place beautiful.
