Millgrove, VIC 3799

Moved here last year and at first worried about the commute to melbourne but its a breeze
The only traffic slow points are seville and lilidale on the way in
Neighbours are friendly and the views are stunning
House prices compared to outer melbourne are cheap in the region of $300k which more than makes up for the extra fuel used
We love it nuff said

I came here in 08 when I bought a dooer upper and fell in love with the place.
My friends said it was a bit rough, yeah compared to what? Ringwood, Lilydale, not at all, I have made some great friends here and the neighbours are great, keep themselves to themselves unless you need a hand and always up for a chat.
Millgrove is an ecclectic place with rundown budget 2 bedders for 200k upto 5-10 acre properties for 5-800k so you can expect a mix of people to go with that.
What really made me stay was how happy it made my kids growing up here with the yarra, the warby trail and the O'Shannessy aqueduct trail.
Safeway is 5 mins away in junction along with the pools and even a Vic roads outpost.
Fantastic food and drink all around with the pubs and restaurants and after about 9 it all goes pretty quiet unless someone has a birthday or its New years eve.
Hang on I didn't mention the views or the access to the state forest for dirt bikes or 4x4.
Maybe not everyones cup of tea but it is for me.

Millgrove is potentially the gem of the Upper Yarra Valley. However, there are pockets in which life can be extremely unpleasant. Barking dogs and surly neighbours can make life difficult and lonely. Luckily it is only a 45 minute drive to Knox or Croydon for social interaction.

I brought out here based on the price of houses. The scenery; breathtaking. I often thank god for finding me such a beautiful area when Im driving home, to get coffee.
My closest neighbours are nice, hard working friendly people. Some of the people walking in the streets sometimes look a bit iffy. And someone painted their house roof blue!
Theres a river at the end and there is only a few 1 other town it goes through from the resivour so its so clean. Warburton nearby is quaint with mountain peaks that are covered in snow in winter. The mountains change as the cloud cover moves over. You could sit there all day and it would change many times. Its like a european hamlet.
Has a few places to eat. Some good, some could use some work.
Cant wait to some of the seedies move out of millgrove as this place, with the geography is million dollars views with those mountains and country side. Really is a great kept secret.

I bought my home just recently in Millgrove after a divorce, and can't believe how dirt cheap it was. A beautiful 3 bdrm home with views to die for. Where else would you buy a gorgeous home under $250,000.There's no rush up here compared to the eastern suburbs, and best of all, there's no speed cameras to worry about ... A clean, safe, quiet town with no stress. The locals are so ever helping out too. So to all those people out there thinking that they can't get into the market as it's expensive... well look at Millgrove... you'll be pleasantly suprised at it's affordability. Take care now...x

Millgrove, once known for its bad reputation of drugs and crime is rapidly vanishing as those involved are moving out to cheaper ares such as Moe and other Gippsland towns. Millgrove will (in time) be the next South Yarra of the valley.... with the beautiful clean Yarra River flowing alonside this petite town. With Warburton only a 2 minute drive away.... the houses are so inexpensive in comparison. Millgrove.... the place to be in coming years.

Millgrove is a lovely place for a quiet lifestyle, especially if you enjoy nature, walking and having a chat with a neighbour or passer-by. It's compartively inexpensive to buy a home; albeit, a small and simple structure. A wonderful escape from a superficial and hectic life-style.

Millgrove is one of a number of villages dotted along the Warburton Highway right next to the boutique weekend retreat of Warburton. Surrounded by state forests and expansive rural valleys Millgrove offers a scenic and healthy lifestyle to raise a family or escape from suburbia. Only 30 minutes drive from Lilydale station and only 45 minutes drive from Eastlink, it is an easy commute to Ringwood, Box Hill, the CBD and even Frankston. The cafes in Warburton (5 minutes away) are a gourmet delight. Take a tour of the local wineries and sample fresh-caught trout and feshly picked berries. The bakery in Millgrove has the yummiest and most-generously filled jam doughnuts I have ever tasted. The local glazier is a stained glass artist- so when you want a pane replaced he can do it in etched glass with a custom design pattern. 15 minutes away is the regional hub of Yarra Junction with a gym and pool and the best fish and chips in Melbourne. 5 minutes down the road from Millgrove is the old farming village of Wesburn with victorian houses and the famous Sam Knott pub "I allus have one at eleven"- the pub has a beautiful bay window where you can see the valley rolling between the mountain ranges as you sample a tasty sirloin with a fine local red... The Yarra river flows through Warburton and Millgrove and is crystal clean with rock pools rapids and copious waterfowl- lovely place for a swim on a hot summer's day. Mount Donna Buang sits behind Warburton and is snow-capped in winter and always running wild with lyrebirds. Mount Baw Baw is only 1 hours drive away and Melbourne's nearest snow fields at Lake Mountain is only 45 minutes drive. For an affordable tree-change that means you don't have to sacrifice your 'Melbourne' world this is the place to live. Where else in Melbourne can you purchase a 3-bedroom house on a large block with magnificent views for under $250,000? Oh yes and the local recycling depot has the most magnificent views of mountains and valleys- doing the paper dump has never been such a magical and life-affirming experience.
