"Great Beachside Suburb"

We came from Sydney and rented in few Melbourne suburbs before buying a house in Mordy. What a great suburb it is with excellent beach, pier, great restaurants. It has everything from schools to parks, sea, entertainment. Great for families and great for party goers too. Its best after St Kilda when it comes to night life and pubs!! We love it, no wonders the house prices are sky rocketing here!!

"Mordialloc! It's a hell of a town!"

What I love about Mordialloc is the shopping and dining precinct in the centre of town. In the middle of Summer Mordialloc is the place to be. trendy eateries, boutique shopping and in general really good people. A stones throw from the water and with a train station close by. I would move to Mordi in a heartbeat!

"One of the best suburbs in Melbourne*"

*if you work in Melbourne's South East and/or don't mind a really long commute. Beside's being so far from Melbourne's CBD, and one incredibly frustrating level crossing, I can't fault the area at all. There is a ton of green spaces, and a bunch of fantastic cafe and restaurant options (I'm looking at you Hendrik's and BANG BANG!). The pier is absolutely stunning at sunset, and the beach is always clean - the sand is a little coarse, but still pleasant to walk on. A short drive further down the coast gives you access to more private beaches with finer sand.

The main strip has everything you could ever need, from bakeries to supermarkets (Woolies and ALDI), pubs and restaurants, op shops, florists and more. Train's run frequently (every 10 minutes), and there are a number of convenient buses also. I haven't been living here long enough (~6 months) to confidently comment on this, but it seems as though there are plenty of community activities too. There's currently a 3-week long fun fair down by the beach; the rides are primarily (or exclusively) targeted towards younger kids, but it creates an amazing atmosphere for all.

If not for the fact that all of my friends are inner city based, I would never leave Mordialloc, but unfortunately as it stands it feels somewhat socially isolated for a young professional like myself. So in sum: highly recommended for young families or those who work locally, but not those who regularly spend time within the inner city/CBD.

Rentals in Mordialloc

"Mordialloc is the place to be."

Lived in mordialloc for 7 years and we just love it. Everything you need is here and the beach is a 5 mins walk. There is only one problem and that's traffic. It needs the by pass built quickly as the streets can't handle the increase in traffic levels. Main Street, white street , boundary road , beach road are at breaking point and its effecting the environment of the area. It's been on the radar for years and it needs to happen quickly before the roads become grid locked. We see constant traffic jams not only on main roads but on the smaller roads like White street.

"Best kept secret!"

We moved to Melbourne from Sydney and look for the perfect Melbourne suburb to live. Thankfully we found it!
Mordialloc is the best kept secret of Melbourne, it is a gem! A great lifestyle suburb that has very limited shortcomings. The beach is sensational, cafes and restaurants are superb and proximate to city (both via car and train) is great.
There are great schools in the area as well as fantastic childcare. Moving from Sydney's north shore, Mordialloc seems to hold its own pretty well.

Thanks for that, that's exactly the choice we are thinking of making. How is the commute (assume you do commute to Melbourne CBD)? I understand it's a moot question at the moment but keen to understand what that could be at it's a bit far from the CBD.

"The best kept secret"

Mordialloc is a very old but beautiful suburb, which has an easy going feel of a small fishing village with a touch of horse racing history. Things are about to change fast, with all the apartments, new shops, and cafe's opening. It will lose its quite charm. I love this suburb, and looked for 3 years to find the perfect house. We could have bought in Brighton, but we wanted the laid back attitude, and the non pretentious people surrounding us. On a hot summers night, walking down in thongs to the wine bar, and meeting the locals. Moridalloc caters to people of all ages, from the young families making sand castles to the retirees out on their boats fishing. It has great schools, parks, restaurants, but needs more of a diversity in the shops. It also has fantastic transport with a train station, buses that travel to Sunshine and Heidelberg. In the past 5 years I have noticed house prices going up dramatically, and believe it will soon be out of reach for the average income.

"move to mordi"

What a great place to live!!! We have been here 5 years now and wouldn't live anywhere else in Melbourne. The beach is a beauty and the beach reserve is super for families with great play equiptment for the kids to spend hours on. The beach park is one of many parks, a bowling club, cricket club, football club and surf lifesaving club it's all here. The very best restaurants, cafe's and takeaway are at your doorstep. Everybody's starting to realize what a great place Mordialloc is for the whole family. The train station at your easy access by foot, bus and courtesy shuttle all help you get around. Better than Brighton with a family friendly price tag. Look forward to seeing you here soon!!!

Agree, Mordialloc is a great place to live. During my walks people always say hello. Found the youth to be very well behaved and well mannered. I also agree Mordialloc is not wanting for anything to make a person feel at home. Choices of Restaurants and cafes open during the day and evening.Everything is here. Mordialloc Secondary School and other schools in the area have good reviews. If a private school is what you are looking for, there is plenty in the area.
We have a good train to the city. Bus services take you as far as Altona, chadstone Southlands an much more. Houses and units are still affordable in this area but maybe not for too long once people see what we have.
