"A compact suburb full of those activewear doing nothing in my activewear"

I've lived in three different apartments in the past five years in this area.
When I was single, this area was great for my life style. Walking distance to everywhere, eating out daily, close to work, clubs and social dancing scenes.
Love Gaswork plaza, close to the river walk, close to the 60 bus and city cat. Small drive to Newfarm park and to the city. Close to the airport.
Close to the best ice cream place in town. Close to the best Woolie in town that closes at 10pm. Basically close to everything you need and want.
Lots of rental to choose from that is semi affordable provided that you're a minimalist that don't need much storage.
Still a lot more of apartments going to pop up in the new few years. It may reach capacity in 3-5 years.
Of course, with more and more people moving in, it is getting more congested in terms of street parking and traffic, but is not too bad, everything still moving.
What I noticed is more and more young family with young kids are also attracted to this area because of the proximity so that they could spend more time with their young babies. You can see this at the Gasworks ring most days during sunset, during that time is basically a toddler areas.
However, lots of the small streets with no pedestrian crossing and traffic lights are a little bit risking for mum with strollers.
Also smokers can be a problem. Air quality is not that good of course.
With the suburb being surrounded by the river, valley and Ann st, it can sometime feels a bit claustrophobic and trapped.
Our neighbor recently moved out and has put her 1bed apartment for sell for $350K, I think she bought it for around $450K. man that hurts.

"Quiet pocket so close to everything - best public transport."

Teneriffe has the best restaurants.

Public transport (especially bus) is fantastic - City Glider goes every 5 minutes peak time and late at night every 15 minutes.

Shopping is eclectic, like the people - very accepting. James Street is the spot for drinking eating shopping and just being seen. You can walk there.

The best internet, great mobile reception.

The best schools. Handy to Uni/TAFE/etc

$10 taxi to the city, walk to the Valley night spots.

Great for entertainment, good resale value/capital gain. No worries about increasing gridlock in peak hour - here you can walk to the places everyone wants to be. Means big $$$$ in the future.

Good city views from some spots, and not as noisy as you may imagine - not many dogs..

JUST GREAT.

"Great place to live"

Teneriffe is a great place to live. Close to the city, great food, wine and places to eat. Great shopping and people are very nice (Ive never found anyone pretentious there at all). My apartment building has a great community spirit and I love walking along the river of an evening.

Buses run every 10 minutes (ferries a little longer) - everything is right at your front door.

"A great inner city suburb"

Newstead has a great diversity of housing from $5M riverfront homes to $300K old units. It's commercial areas are being renewed and offer some of the trendiest offices, restaurants and hotels in Brisbane.
When I first came to Brisbane, everyone told me that I should live in New Farm and for sure it is great, however Newstead has a bit more edgyness and diversity to it. It hugs the river and so you can always go for great walks. I love Teneriffe Park. It's amazing bushland - you wouldnt know you are 2km from the city.

Rentals in Newstead

"Alright if you like that kind of thing..."

Good spot close to the city, but has quite a pretentious feel about it and parking is a nightmare!

"Teneriffe/Newstead great lifestyle and friendly neighborhood!"

Yes its true prices are quite expensive in the well to do suburb of Teneriffe. Although sometimes you get what you pay for. In this instance this is just the case as Teneriffe is better suited to people with more than average to spend.

Teneriffe park is great to play sports, the city so close and within walking distance, close proximity to ferries and transport, schools, medical and great wining and dining!

If Teneriffe were cheaper to purchase property i would have given a 10/10 due to cost of living i rate as a 9/10.
