"Beautiful town! Strong Community♥️"

Beautiful town with stunning surrounding areas! Lots of nature walks and waterfalls nearby. Nimbin is a strong community who all look out for each other, with a lot of community and locally owned businesses which was really nice. Cute small organic food shop owned by community and volunteer run by locals. Such a nice relaxing, very grounding area to be in, and always surrounded by beautiful views.
Worth the visit!♥️

"give Nimbin a miss"

a small dirty remnant hippie town full of drug dealers and entitled 'locals' , no work, now saddled with the fresh insult of badly thought out new developments designed to enticw the city escapee..devoid of trees and character.. no police at night despite huge crime rates, no decent public facilities - basically violent, filthy, unpleasant. Do yourself a favor keep looking, it may have once been great but there are a lot better places now than Nimbin to live in the area.

"Cannot wait to move away from this town"

When I first decided to move to Nimbin nearly 4 years ago, I couldn't wait !! I was so excited as I had heard it was an amazing place filled with great people. I was wrong. The people here are horrid and I cannot wait to get the hell out of here.
I remember during the first few months of settling in I was in awe of the place, I loved where I am living and how peaceful it is, how beautiful my surroundings were and still are. The town itself feels very unwelcoming, dirty and I feel unsafe and now only resort to going into town if its absolutely necessary, i.e. need milk. The people of Nimbin are very opinionated and only deem you a resident if you have been here approx 20 years. The town is also quite expensive, and the boys in the alley constantly asking you if you would like to buy gets rather annoying when they have already asked you 5 minutes ago.
I live a few minutes from town on a beautiful property, hidden away from the main road into town, this hasn't stopped vandals, whilst away visiting family on the Gold Coast, I return home to find smashed windows on my house, front door unlocked and left wide open. Thank fully nothing sentimental was taken. Another incident which left me feeling extremely unsafe in my own home was when I was traveling back from Lismore after doing my weekly grocery shopping, and just as I entered Nimbin I looked in my rearview mirror to a woman in a silver sedan who also had her children and another older woman in the car, flashing her lights, honking her horn, accelerating and breaking to the rear of my car whilst hurling abuse out the window, this continued through town, she kept yelling out 'pull over (C word)!', i then slowed down with one of my hands out the window aswell as saying 'what did I do?', she continued to yell abuse requesting me to stop, I was not going to stop! I was shaking and scared to death! She continued to follow me until I turned off onto my driveway where she sat in her car for a few minutes, I drove quickly to my front door, locked it and rang the police who took 4 hours to respond. I filed a police report, somehow the officer knew exactly who it was and confronted her days later, apparently I breaked too early coming into town. She was given a warning.
I have also witnessed on a facebook group called 'Nimbin Hookups' a woman being forced to leave this town as she was verbally abused via the facebook group and her business in town was attacked on numerous occasions.
I am now 4 months pregnant with my first and eager to get out of this place as soon as possible, I do not want my daughter growing up here !! Definitely not a place for children to grow up. Have heard horrid things about the schools here too.
Beautiful surroundings ! It is just such a shame about Nimbin and it's people. Such a spoiler.

Rentals in Nimbin

"Nimbin - Unusally yet relaxing atmosphere."

Nimbin is at the foot of the Night Cap National Park and the Border Ranges and is about an hour’s drive west of Byron Bay. Often referred to as the “Alternative Capital” Nimbin hold a festival every year as a rally to decriminalise Marijuana. The town is very laid back with older style building and shops selling locally made clothing and crafts, other sell fresh produce and a number of galleries. The locals are very friendly and are not offended when you decline their offer to sell you some cannabis. Have a coffee, beer or whatever takes your fancy and enjoy a stroll along the main street. Nimbin has a relaxing atmosphere that seems to invite you to come back. There is backpacker accommodation as well as caravan parks, motels and farm stays. 3 kms south of the town is Nimbin Rocks which is an Aboriginal Sacred Site and although they can only be viewed from the road early morning produces a wonderful spectacle.

"If you want to experience something a little different, then a trip to Nimbin should be on your list."

Nimbin is a town that has hit the world news at times. Hidden away in the Northern Rivers region, Nimbin became a town of hippies and marijuana lovers. Different little communes sprung up and when the goings on hit the media it got quite a lot of interest.

A visit to the town is an experience if you have not been involved in this lifestyle before. There is outright advertising of the pot smoking lifestyle.

Some of the art in the area is really quite stunning and there are many gifted people in this area. Another feature is the clothing assortment. Again it is very hippy styled, but most of it is made from natural fibres and this in anybody's language is good, especially in the hotter climates.

It is a subtropical area here and the rural area is very lovely, all really well worth the trip if you are in the area.
