House prices in Northbridge are extremely expensive for a reason. The median price is $2.5m as of 2015.
Income details from the ATO show Northbridge is in the top 10 suburbs in AUSTRALIA for income.

While everyone has their own opinion, the market is sending a clear message. Northbridge is a highly desirable area to live in.

It's quiet, safe, close to the city, close to restaurants and has access to expansive parkland and recreational areas.
Just look at google maps and the green areas surrounding Northbridge. It's on a peninsula so local traffic is just that.
But the roads bordering Northbridge, - Eastern Valley Way and Strathallen Ave - are busy in peak hours.

For professionals, bus services into the city or Nth Sydney are easy and frequent. Peak hour buses every 5-10 mins and it's approximately 15 mins travel time
Being the Nth Shore, high school options are mainly private, and expensive. Northbridge does have three primary schools.

If you want the ambience of Newtown or Darlinghurst then you are in the wrong place.
But if you want a great place to live and raise a family, and have the money to buy in, then it's a great choice.

I work in Nth Sydney and it's exactly 3km from my Northbridge house to our office in Berry St. Bus takes 10 minutes and there are a zillion of them every morning.

Local primary schools are excellent, NB Primary teaches Japanese, and the area is safe and fun for kids with loads of green space, from when the State government planned a freeway through the NB peninsula. That was dumped in the late 60's but it left a nice legacy. Swimming at the Northbridge Baths is something the kids and their friends love in summer.

Getting places is easy as NB has good access. The Northern Beaches tunnel, which goes from Cammeray to Seaforth, will open in about 2026 will pass under Northbridge. It'll cut lower Nth Shore traffic and give us all more options. Assuming the toll isn't a total rip-off.

The local shopping centre has all you need like Woolies, butchers, bakeries, cafes and coffee shops, without being a hideous Westfield. Chatswood is 10 mins away if you want that.

Peninsula suburb only 7km from Sydney, 5km from Nth Syd. Too expensive for most.

Great for high earning professionals. Lots of parks and bush walking tracks.
A few older houses, which, when sold, are demolished and replaced with modern, architect-designed residences.

If you can afford Northbridge then you already know about it, and why it's so popular among the wealthy.
Way out of the price range of nearly all people.

Northbridge is super expensive so you'll need to be happy spending $3m+ for a normal home. .
Knockdowns go for $2.5m . But there are a few cheaper homes on smaller blocks or on the busy arterial roads on the edge of Northbridge.

Why so expensive?

Well it's 5k to Nth Sydney, 6k to the city, surrounded by large parks, and close to Chatswood, Crows Nest and more. It's got a nice village, a small shopping centre, and is very safe.
The NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian, lives here, as does ex-PM Bob Hawke.

We have recently moved to northbridge and absolutely love it! We have no regrets buying here. It's a peaceful, beautiful leafy suburb which is even more special given its close proximity to the city, chatswood, neutral bay etc. Going out in the city is a breeze - We catch a cab or sometimes a bus straight into the city to catch up with friends. Its always great to go out for a fun night in the city, but appreciate coming home to a peaceful home.
On the weekends we love going for a short drive to Balmoral beach or do a quick walk to Northbridge baths.
After moving from Cammeray, there doesnt seem to be the same variety of cafes and restaurants. There are some existing cafes and we expect there will be more places opening up as more young people and families move to the suburb. In the meantime, if we get bored with the northbridge cafes, it's only a short drive 5 min to cammeray, neutral bay if we feel like eating out for brekkie. But we did the same when we lived at cammeray - some weekends you just feel like eating somewhere new/ different.
Best of all I love the Northbridge community spirit. People here are so friendly. We've found the older generation to be particularly helpful and willing to introduce themselves which makes Northbridge feel like home not just a suburb.
When you speak with locals around Northbridge most have been here for years, if not decades. I can now understand why :)

Northbridge is a suburb in the north shore of sydney, about 15-20 mins away from the CBD depending on traffic. I've lived in Northbridge for about 16 years, and after 13 it really starts to get boring.

The transportation in and out of Northbridge is utterly terrible, like most of Sydney's transport System. Buses come roughly every 25 mins on weekdays and during peak, every 30-40mins on Saturdays and once every hour on Sundays. Buses are frequently overcrowded and late. The traffic just keeps getting worse, especially in the mornings between 7-9am. It is worst at Northbridge junction (where Strathallen Ave meets Sailors Bay Road). The junction is an absoloute eyesore and has a concrete, sterile feel about it.

Eating out, however, isn't so bad as Northbridge has a few Thai, Japanese, Italian and Chinese restaurants to choose from. There is also a fantastic chicken shop called 'Psycho Chicken' to get takeaway from. Eating out at these restaurants is very inexpensive. There is a huge Woolworths in Northbridge Plaza so food shopping is very easy, along with groceres and butchers. There is one pub on Strathallen ave.

Northbridge has some beautiful parks and streets with big, waterfront houses. The best waterfront streets would be Coolawin, Minimbah and Dorset roads. They have water access and stunning 180 degree views with some houses costing millions of dollars. The parks are perfect for picnics, bbq's and children. Clive Park, Hallstrom Close and Tunks park are all stunning waterside parks. At Tunks park, dogs are allowed and there is playground for children and fitness area.

There are 2 schools in Northbridge: Northbridge Primary School and St. Phillip Neri's. Northbridge Primary School is a public, government funded school and hasn't been doing so well in recent years, with many parents moving there children to Cammeray Public School instead. St. Phillip Neri's is a Private, Catholic primary school. They are both located on Sailor's Bay Road and are close to bus stops. Northbridge, however, is very close to North Sydney, the home of many private and public high schools. There is a good amount of transport that will take you from North Sydney to Northbridge so it's a good place to live if you plan on sending your kids to school there.

Overall, there's not alot to do in Northbridge, especially for teenagers and its difficult to get out and about of the suburb on public transport. There have been a few reported attempted child abductions in Northbridge, and even a report of a man walking around naked at night! It's a very rich, whitebread suburban place and as soon as your kids hit there teens I recommend moving somewhere a bit more livelier... I personally feel that 16 years in this suburb was 3 years to much...

Northbridge is the perfect mix of quiet surrounds and city access. All amenities are nearby, including large shopping complex (by inner city standards), great schools, sports facilities and a good mix of restaurants & shops in the suburb or within 1-2kms. Northbridge still represents good value vs other inner city suburbs but the gap is closing as more & more properties are being bought and renovated to upper class standard. Views are excellent from many locations given the water surrounds and slope of the peninsula. We are a young professional family with kids and woudl find it hard to locate a better mix of lifestyle, proximity, amenity and value for money in Sydney.

Fantastic location - 10 mins drive to the city, but quiet and leafy surrounds. Beautiful parks and harbour foreshore, and a great shopping centre attracting people from the surrounding suburbs. Bus service is great, though on weekends a little sporadic. The local primary schools are both excellent. The only downside I found living in Northbridge was a very staid, conservative population with mainly retirees. This reflected in the eating and community options available in the suburb.

Northbridge is home to fine old homes – some with waterviews, shops, restaurants, a school or two, beautiful golf course, and the playing fields for Shore School. Traffic on Sailors Bay Road is often busy, especially in peak periods with cars travelling to both the City and North Sydney. The Northbridge Baths, accessed from Kameruka Road, are popular in summer.
