"Old school charm"

I lived in Northfield from when I was born in 1968 until 1986. Ovals, parks, playground, Stockade Botanical Park, football clubs, public transport and schools. Northfield was and is a continually growing suburb. I lived on Hoods Road one house away from the prison and it was never a problem. Great suburb for raising a family.

Rentals in Northfield

"bad area."

you got to be kidding me.

you could go up 3 bus stops in 15 mins. hampstead road is one of the busiest roads..not to mention the prison within easy access within the suburb. trust the bikies that come visit their mates there and park near your place along northfield. good luck raising a family there

i have lived here. know the area. and have no plans of returning back. sure its cheap but its cheap for a reason.

"Little gem, still on the brink of affordability and easy access to all"

I bought 7 years ago in 2012 when it was up and coming. Have no regrets since. its a great pocket and hidden gem. I feel safe raising my family here. Easy access to the CBD (within 13km radius) and public transport, lots of large lush parks, a dog park that is being upgraded, no hoons, easy access to public transport and the old houses are being sold and new homes built. this area is part of the port Adelaide Enfield council , large, council rates don't creep up hugely, and the council is responsive to queries/requests. Its a great area for first home buyers, professionals and families. Easy access to Tea Tree Plaza Shopping and fosters road supermarket etc.

"A great up and coming suburb"

I live on the borderline of Walkley Heights and this pocket of Northfield is fabulous. Great surrounding neighbours, big parks, easy access to public transport, many schools nearby and peace and quiet. Would be great to see the Port Adelaide Enfield local council to continue developing the whole of Northfield to neaten it up because it has a lot of potential - its only 10kms from the City! It is great for first home buyers and young families. It is definitely the up and coming suburb and with the number of new houses being built, I’m sure the old homes will continue to go and the suburb will boom.

Great for

  • Cost of living
  • Access to shopping
  • Great Property Options
  • Peace and Quiet
  • Proximity to CBD

Not great for

  • Some pokets of Norhtfield are poor and dingy
  • Eating out Options

"Fantastic First Home-Owner Suburb"

A Secret Gem -- 12 kms from the CBD. Adjacent to the happening suburbs of Northgate, Lightsview and Oakden. Atleast 25-50 new houses being built right now
Great block sizes, especially good for young families. It's only a 15 minutes drive from the city and there is good transport available. (GO ZONE)
Best part -- excellent choices especially for First-Home Buyers. 3 Bedroom houses (brand-new) - available for 400-425k. Streets like Dumfries Ave and Folland Avenue have awesome houses coming up

"Up and coming suburb"

Northfield is a little gem in the suburbs. It used to be a poorer suburb but with recent additions such as Lightsview and Northgate as neighbours, the prices of Northfield residences are going up. Most homes are older but have great block sizes, especially good for young families. It's only 10 minutes from the city and there is good transport available. In another 20 years the land at Northfield is going to be in demand and quite valuable.

"A suburb changing fast"

Used to be a bit grungy, but now much better. New houses going up quickly, still friendly, plenty of parks, close to the city. No where to eat out, aside from the club.

"Changing fast"

Formerly a poor suburb, it is changing rapidly, as old housing stock is replaced by new. Some streets look very contemporary and neat, some a bit scruffy.
Plenty of parks, two sports fields, major bus stops, new suburbs all around and close proximity to the city make it a good place to live.

Some parts are completely feral.Just like what we have with Salisbury North and Davoren Park It's going to take a long while for the image to change.

"Adjacent Northgate is all I can say"

Trust homes and some very unattractive streets let you know you've stepped out of Northgate and into Northfield. It has a lot of potential. With Northgate right next door and Lightsview coming online Northfield could be the next big thing in the inner North but most of the homes will have to go.

It is well serviced by public transport and it’s easy to get into the city down Hampstead Road. It could be done in as little as 10 minutes. North Adelaide isn't far away so a night out for a drink or a meal is an easy trip.

However, the houses are old and run down and many of them are only good for knocking down to use the prime real estate.

If you want all that Northgate has to offer but can't afford it, Northfield could be a good alternative.
