Reviews of Oakleigh South, VIC

"Great suburb with best primary school"

This suburb has the best public primary school which is Oakleigh South Primary School and good secondary school.

It has great local restaurants, supermarkets and the links shopping centre nearby.

The neighbor is nice and friendly with old couples and young families starting to move in.

The pocket along Dowling rd is very nice. I have been here for more than 10 years

"Top rated school"

The Oakleigh South Primary school is hands down the best public primary school in Victoria offering a holistic education with an in-house farm maintained by grade 3 students and a sustainable living village maintained by students. The Oakleigh South Secondary school is one of the fastest rising secondary schools with entry into coveted VCE 30 clubs in 2022. It is on the mission to get into the top 5 in the next few years.

"Quiet place within 15 km of CBD with all amenities in walking distance"

The price to value ratio does not get better within 15 km of CBD in Eastern and South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Melbourne’s best public primary school (Score of 100 for last 8 years), Melbourne’s top golf courses (Metropolitan etc), Woolies, Bunnings, Chemist Warehouse, Bakers delight, cafes, baby bunting - all within 5 minutes walk, full of large leafy trees and exotic birds.
Two bus routes (733 and 933) connecting to other suburbs and stations like Oakleigh, Huntingdale just 2 mins drive away. Chadstone and Southland at 10 mins drive.

"Peaceful and close to city"

Quiet suburb tucked away not too far from the city, but close enough without the hustle and bustle. Amenities including Oakleigh central, train stations and Chadstone mall are just a few minutes away.

Quiet area, friendly neighbours, lived here for 19 years, no crime at all, and close to great areas, such as malvern east, bentleigh, cheltenham, clayton, moorabbin, Springvale, Oakleigh and oakleigh east. so plenty of work areas aswell as shops such as chadstone southland. Very near is Oakleigh where you can go out for a coffee with your friends at Vanilla

"A really under-rated suburb with lots of potential"

Oakleigh south has been a great place to live since we moved in 3 yrs back. The only weak point we initally thought was distance of a supermarket from our place. But now there is whole new shopping complex coming up scheduled to be finished by April 2012 which would include woolworths and other home and garden centres at the corner of warrigal and centre rd which would make all the necessities at door step. The 913 bus route is efficient and buses are not much crowded till oakleigh which makes it easier to get seat. Locals are excellent, all the services are handy and being close to school and parks makes it a great life for kids and family. I'm really happy with our decision to move to Oakleigh south and would recommend everybody.

Great for

  • Supermarket at door step
  • Efficient bus route
  • Green and clean
  • Close to transport
  • Great eats
  • Shops
