Reviews of Oatlands, NSW

"2021-2022 Review"

Trendy area, with lots of parks, native wildlife and a good few kilometres for bushwalking. Terrible for riding bikes, as it’s quite hilly, but lots of locals go for evening walks and friendly enough to say Hello or have a bit of a chat Oatlands Golf Club is a beautiful place to pop in over the weekend for a drink and nibbles, while sitting back and taking in the view of rolling lawns or city skyline. Oatlands has long been a prestige area. With many residents opting for the area for the prestige schools, TARA and KIngs Schools.
As stated in previous comments the only down side is neighbouring suburbs Telopea and Dundas, which contain housing commission blocks, homes and they were targeting Oatlands for theft. However, in the last 5 years the Housing Commission has developed in Telopea and Dundas with old buildings demolished and new buildings built, which has given these suburbs a facelift and seems to have had a good impact on their residents for good. If any robberies in Oatlands, it’s being targeted from other areas, other than Telopea and Dundas now. Also a reminder regarding the pricing of properties in Oatlands: Oatlands has mostly very large blocks, with most starting 900m2 to well over 2000m2. Now that high rises are being developed in Parramatta City, homes around Oatlands have city views and are looking forward to watch NYE fireworks going off from the skyscrapers. The community is tight nit when it comes to protecting the street scape of the area. Everyone loves prestige Oatlands House and Oatlands Golf Course. The local shops has a country town feel, as the shops owners do get to know everyone. Oatlands will develop further and will progress to be the next Equivalent to the suburbs that are within a 4km radius of Sydney City. Western Sydney University is close and from some points of Oatlands is walkable distance. Regarding noise, yes, but mainly from the main roads surrounding the area and affecting residents along those immediate areas. Otherwise, I can say it’s what is expected for it’s locality. Close to quick freeways and major roads, having immediate links to wherever you want to go in metropolitan or NSW.
Most residents of Oatlands are the owners of the properties, with only a small percentage of Rental properties. The only fault I can find is some gardens are over grown. This is mainly residents that have no little or no idea how to mow a lawn or keep a garden. But also cultures that tend to stay out of the sun to show wealth, or don’t know council regulations for street maintenance. Thank goodness it’s only a few and these residents certainly get told to look after their gardens.

Noise doesnt give sleepless nights. Its quieter at night. Its mainly peak hours and not constant. I dont see it worse than Inner City suburbs, which are worse.

"North Shore in the North West"

Oatlands is a nice safe area. Too many trees though. People can be a little snobby but this area is quite high class. Most of my time I’m in Sydney’s North Shore and I notice the similarities in both areas. I’d recommend living here. And also Oatlands has a nice view of Parramatta CBD.

"Parramatta + Bush = Oatlands"

Oatlands is a beautiful leafy suburb adjoining North Parramatta. The area has excellent local shops and easy access to Kings, Tara schools etc. also the properties are well maintained. However, there is several issues with Oatlands. Firstly, you will hear very loud trucks braking throughout the night even if you live up to 1KM from Pennant Hills Rd - it is bad! Until you live in the area you won't realise how frustrating it can become. Secondly, there is still a large volume of housing commission in Telopea / Dundas and it is common knowledge that Oatlands is targeted for robbery. Ultimately Oatlands is seriously overpriced you are paying north shore pricing to live in what is essentially Parramatta. If your children attend one of the nearby private schools it may still be a viable option though. Local tip: avoid Taylor's Real Estate as we have had no end to dramas dealing with them.

Yes if you buy near Pennant Hills Road. All suburbs alone Pennant Hills Road has that noise issue. Looks like you didnt do your homework when buying. Im sorry if you think Oatlands is seriously over priced. But you are buying into a Prestige area and home owners have pride in the area. Robbery is not targeted, by Telopea and Dundas housing commission residents. If they do come, they also come from afar such as the Central Coast and if Oatlands is targeted, its for its wealth status, just like Mosman, Rose Bay, Vaucluse etc.

As an Oatlands resident, I can say that we so close nitt, that we are lucky enough to organise private security patrols.

"Nice place to live"

Funny suburb to live in but nice. Has two real extremes with some super wealthy people in the area (especially because of the fairly prestigeous shools, which can be annoying) and also regular people. Probably can be a little overpriced though because of the prestigious tag. Close to Parramatta and Carlingford which is handy. One of the nice parts of the area to live in, although can depend which part you are in. You get lot of people from out of the area with the golf course and schools, which occasionally be a pain for traffic.

"Beautiful Oatlands"

We lived in Oatlands from 2001 till 2007 and moved to QLD, we regret leaving Oatlands.

It just has such a great feel to it, it is such a beautiful little quiet suburb hidden away, lots of tree lined streets. There are lots of beautiful homes and the prestigious Oatlands Golf Course and Private Schools.
Cannot wait to move back to walk my dog around Oatlands.

"A hidden gem"

If you're driving along Pennant Hills Rd or Kissing Point Rd you could easily miss the suburb of Oatlands, but if you turn into one of the streets you will soon discover a hidden gem of a suburb. Sitting high above all it's neighbouring suburbs, most of the streets in Oatlands have a great outlook. The suburb is filled with trees and greenery. The people in the neighbourhood are friendly and it's a great suburb for families with kids. Many of the homes in the area are architecturally designed and the suburb is infamous for it's Golf Course, which adds to the prestige of the area. The Oatlands Village is equipped with all the shops and facilities you need and the schools in the suburb are some of the best in the state, especially Kings College & Tara Anglican private schools. Oatlands is a fantastic choice for home owners and a wiser choice for investors. The long term trend for prices in the area continues to increase. It's just minutes from Victoria Rd, and once there, the Sydney CBD is less than 20kms away. Parramatta CBD is on the doorstep of the suburb and is accessible by foot, public transport or a short drive. Oatlands is a beautiful suburb with so much on offer.

"Wonderful Oasis minutes to Parramatta"

Beautiful spot, close to Parramatta, but with the feeling of a Killara or Lindfield. Top tier golf course, amazing properties and some of the best schools in all of Sydney a stone throw away. Phenomenal location that eclipses Beecroft and Cheltenham.
