Reviews of Oberon, NSW

"Great Place to Live!!!"

Oberon is a great place to visit and an excellent area to invest into. Oberon is the highest town within the Blue mountains at 1,113m and receives usual snowfalls throughout the winter months making Oberon a winter wonderland and sydneys closest place to the alpine conditions seen in the snowy alps the reason why the town recieves a high influx of visitors around the winter period. If you travel 20 mins out of town you are in alpine like conditions as higher elevation ocours around the little village of shooters hill up here heavy snowfalls are usually evident when snow is forecast. For the warmer individuals Oberon has the perfect Climate in summer with the average max temps reaching from anywhere between 20c to 32c and an average min at 8c giving you warm sunny days and cool mountain nights thus excluding those sleepless nights and hot sticky, muggy days. Oberon also has many great facilities such as your local supermarket a newly renovated foodworks and Supa IGA. It also has a great rural community feel to the area, a quiet and peaceful town and only 2 hrs from Sydney, its closest main city/town is Bathurst and is approx 30-45mins from Oberon. Oberon is certainly a town thats graudally growing so keep watch it closley. Oberons one downside would be activities for the younger generation there is not enough

So overall Oberon is a lovely place to stay, a nice rural setting, nice climate, perfect for country lovers, prime location for people that want to get away from the city. Perfect tree changer!!! Oberon is all you could ever want in a small but stable country town =)

Looking for a home in Oberon?

"Oberon - Beautiful base for loads of natural fun."

Being one of the highest towns in the Blue Mountains, Oberon is a great place to use as a base to visit the many unique places nearby. The area has four distinct seasons with snow in the winter. From here you can visit Jenolan Caves, Abercrombie Caves, go fossicking for gold in the old gold fields, visit the Oberon Museum or see some of the other natural sites. Fishing is always popular and Lake Oberon and Oberon Dam are stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Note that boating and swimming is prohibited. Stream fishing season is from the long weekend in October to the June long weekend and all anglers must hold a freshwater fishing licence. Accommodation options include guesthouse, retreats and cabins and should be booked in advance.
