"Up and coming"

Oxley is one of the best up and coming suburbs in QLD. There are amazing post-war homes that have been renovated. The annual growth for houses is +0.88% which is good!
Beautiful area, great food, amazing people.
Thanks!

Looking for a home in Oxley?

"Thriving Community Hub"

Oxley is a thriving community hub of residential, commercial, and retail sectors, providing its locale with the ideal suburban lifestyle. As one of Brisbane’s oldest suburbs, Oxley showcases a number of beautiful Queenslander's and cottages which nestle among the newer, contemporary homes.

Transport is fantastic with the suburb enjoying its own train station and a fantastic bus connection, as well as direct access to the Ipswich motorway.

There is no shortage of amenities in the area with major retailers including Woolworths, Aldi, TK Maxx, Harvey Norman and Bunnings, along with a chain of smaller local stores, cafes and restaurants. The area also boasts two Taverns, an 18-hole golf course, Private Hospital, multiple daycare centres and a primary school.

"An amazing place to live, green and leafy and family friendly"

My family has lived here for 11 years. After quite a few moves looking for the right community, we have definitely found it in Oxley. Located a few minutes from Brisbane CBD, Oxley has a great village feel and a friendly community. So convenient with plenty of public transport options, two good supermarkets, a handful of good coffee shops, takeaways, doctors, dentist and speciality stores plus plenty more. Everything you need is here.

"On the up and up!"

We got in just as the prices were going up and plan to raise and extend our post war home - this suburb is full of people doing the same.

Well located with links to the city and coast; Oxley Train Station to the city takes 17 minutes.

Our neighbours are predominantly caucasian couples/young families or retirees and over the past year we have noticed lots of hipsters milling around the coffee shops. Rental prices are continuing to rise too bringing in an influx of professionals. We've never seen any 'idiot behaviour'; people are neighbourly and take pride in their homes. Everyone appears to work full time on our street unless they are retired.

Negatives are that it is low lying in areas, but raising the house negates that aspect. Very unlikely that we will move from Oxley.

"Hidden Gem"

We moved to Oxley a little over a year ago to raise a family. I have been overwhelmed with the community spirit of this place and the fantastic options the suburb provides. There is absolutely everything here- great schools, fantastic cafe's, boutique shops, beautiful parks, train station, plus the ease of access to everything not to mention being a meer 11km to the CBD. We bought here because we wanted to live in a suburb with history and character. There are beautiful homes here and sprawling parks with established trees- we found it the only affordable suburb this close to Brisbane to meet that criteria.
Our street is full of young home owners who are renovating and revitalising this suburb and we couldn't be happier to have got in to the property market here.

"Never Moving From Oxley"

I have lived in all parts of Brisbane at various stages of my life and never could i have dreamed to find such a peaceful and cosy suburb such as Oxley, Its feels like i am on holidays every day in this leafy suburb. I have been here for 8 years now and could not imagine raising a family anywhere else. It is getting busier every year but is filling with young new families who take pride in their suburb. 10 km from the city for nights out and plenty of its own boutique shops and restaurants.

"Fantastic secret High-Side Option"

Oxley can have a bad name brought over from the past. I have lived in the area over 10 years (owner occupied) plus went to high school in the suburb. Over that time I have seen some amazing positive changes. We rented at Chelmer a far more up-market area for 5 years prior to buying in Oxley. In Oxley, on the High-side (away from Oxley Road, and the Right Side of Ipswich Road) you find a hidden secret. Views, old beautiful houses, green streets and amazing neighbours. More and more people are choosing to move her for its location to public transport, ability to renovate and live comfortably, and close shopping options and access to major arterial roads. I believe Oxley residents will have the last laugh - especially when we have experienced homes going from low 100K's to mod 400-600's - don't listen to the hype, get in now before its too late and help revitalise and "yuppy-fy" this great suburb. Just need the last remaining bogans to move out a little further and we will be set for an awesome suburb! Rising Rents should assist this

"Go Ahead Revitalised Suburb"

Having bought land close to the centre of Oxley, and rented here for a good three years I know and love it well. It seems to be that more and more people are moving to Oxley, there's a good supply of housing and its a large suburb. With that there is extensive development occurring with the new Woolworths on the cards. Public transport options are great as are road transport options. Shopping is fantastic with most major retailers based there. All it needs is a few more speciality stores, restaurants and a bigger supermarket, to improve its village feel... This is coming however. This I believe this will create a great village atmosphere, for families and young proffessionals etc. I know many people moving here and I believe there is also strong rental demand.

"Covenient, friendly and leafy town with affordable housing for FHB"

We bought our first home in Oxley just under a year ago. In a short-time, we got to know a large number of people on our street, just because everyone is so friendly and helpful! The floods really showed how strong Oxley residents were, and how willing neighbours were to help each other.

Oxley is a bit under-valued, in my opinion, as you have access to the Ipswich motorway in to the city, a fantastic rail-way service (which is improving services very soon), and a quick drive to University of Queensland (which is useful for both staff and students!).

Coming from Sydney, I would say that Oxley has relatively few eating out options - however this seems to be fairly standard for Brisbane (excl. those very inner suburbs, which are very expensive).
However, there is a very nice pub - the Oxley hotel, as well as a friendly, old-school bowls club on Englefield Road. The Marmalade cafe is also a nice little coffee shop on Cook st.
There is also a development in town which hopefully will see an increase in the number of eating out options...

There appears to be action on the beautification front, with plenty of street trees planted around Oxley recently - and I think this will make a vast improvement. Unfortunately, the state of properties/land on Oxley road gives a pretty poor impression of the town, however going down side-streets and into Oxley central will show you that it is a generally green, clean and leafy place.

"lovely little Oxley"

Having lived in Oxley for 2 and a half years now we don't want to live anywhere else. And in-fact are looking to buy here over the next two years. Friendly neighbourhood and everything is close by. The local Pizza place on Oxley Station road is superb. Oxley State School i Wonderful My Daughter just started prep. The facilities, teachers, play areas, staff, parents, Children are all just so warm and friendly and I am so elated to have found such a wonderful school in our suburb. There isnt a nightlife, but Indooroopilly is only a 10min drive away. There is a lot of green space for kids tokick a ball and quite a few parks dotted all over Oxley.

"Oxley is a great place to live"

One of the oldest suburbs in Brisbane it is going ahead. The proposed woolworths and 15 speciality shops in oxley central will revitalise the shopping precinct. $2.6M about to be spent on redeveloping the Railway station and bus interchange. Public transport improvements to rail mean that 15 minute offpeak travel to the city will be implemented in 2011 with around a 16/17 minute train ride to the cbd. The darra to rocklea ipswich road upgrade will be delivered in the next few years. Park upgrades to Nixon and other parklands in the area are underway. A new neighbourhood plan for Oxley is currently being developed (October 2010). The oxley neighbourhood watch is growing and incorporating more of the suburb. Brisbane city council is committed to delivering more bike paths in the area.

"Peaceful Suburb close to the city."

Oxley has undergone a lot of changes recently, all for the better, we are happy to own a business here and enjoy every visit, stop for a coffee and have a look around. Train and bus all close and handy, motorway also. Traffic congestion is improving and the local council are planning more community consultation in regard to future planning and environmental issues.

"Perfect for families and business!"

I have lived here for 5 years. We moved here when i was expecting my first child, as we wanted a family friendly suburb that had great facilities and lots of parks. We now have 3 children, and we find life to be fantastic in this area. We can access 2 of Brisbane's biggest and best parks within minutes, there are 2 excellent primary schools within 2kms and we can access all professional services eg. dr, dentist, physio within Oxley. I also run a successful small business from home. Eating out is a bit limited, but with 14 specialty shops moving in soon, that is soon to change.
Our family use public transport daily, and with the extra train line, trains will go to the city at least every 15 minutes. Can't speak highly enough of the suburb and its livability. And every year services are improving. I think it's a suburb that's got a big future.

"I still call Oxley home"

I love Oxley. i used to live there some years back. We lived in Edenvale Street, its very leafy.
I loved running around with the other neighbor hood kids playing in the parks and riding our bikes through the bushes.

Back then there where a lot of young families and young couples buying in the area because it was reasonably affordable. I remember Oxley wasn't all that crash hot either, but as Brisbane gets bigger and people renovate the lovely postwar home with their nice hard wood timber floors, and the development of the suburbs center near the train the value improves, and will do forever i think.

The people are cool, the trees are nice and plentiful, and there is a strong sens of community in this suburb. i will always call Oxley home.

regards
Jess

"The most convenient place in Brisbane"

Oxley is brilliant. It's a traditional australian suburb, with big houses and garden and leafy wide streets. It has easy access to the city, either by train, Ipswich motorway, Centenary Highway, Sherwood Road or straight through Corinda, Sherwood, Graceville and Chelmer into Indooroopilly. You also get to choose between Indooroopilly Shoppingtown and Mount Ommaney Shopping Centre. What more could you ask for?

"Its a great surburb to live in"

It is a great surburb to live and and you fall in love with the area easily.
> Best of all, it has easy access to the city, you can go Western Freeway, Oxley road through Indooropilly or just get on to Ipswich motorway.
> Public transport is also good with the options of train and buses.
> Shopping for basics is good with a number of clusters of shops. And prices for groceries are so affordable
> It is a very pets friendly suburb and you can see dogs/cats in almost every house.
> You have a feel for a homey surburb and most people are with families and they own the places (not too many rentals)
> And there are 2 Golf Courses if you would like some swings over a weekend.
> For night life, you have to go to the valley for real night life. But if you would like just coupla catch up over some beers with some mates, Oxley Tavern and Oxley Hotels are where to go. Food is good and drinks are affordable.
> Eating out, admit that it is not that great with limited options, but Siam Thai Sunset in Graceville, Tandoori Kitchen in Forest Lakes, ... are just some 5 minutes drive away.

"A TERRIFIC PLACE TO LIVE . . ."

Oxley has a wonderful community spirit and a relaxed and friendly attitude.
The major development planned for the Oxley retail centre will provide a diverse range of business further enhancing the current shopping precinct.

Transport and medical facilities are easily accessible along with professional services. The village provides a supermarket, butchers, bakeries, chemist, news agent, restaurants and the list goes on. . . . .

The people are what make a suburb a pleasurable place to reside. In my experience Oxley people are some of the most down to earth and caring people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

Oxley and surrounding suburbs also provide an array of parks, sporting facilities, schools, churches and community events.
