"Parkwood beautiful but changing."

I've lived in the good side of Parkwood for 13 years and its a beautiful neighbourhood. I can say it is changing with all the new people moving in. As in - we now have teenagers graffiting fences and my neighbour told me that in the Parkwood FB group there's been break ins - teenagers breaking in to steal cars. Also a few weeks ago the Police Beat on Napper Road (btw Parkwood/Arundel) was shot up while a police officer & family were asleep. The demographics are changing.

Looking for a home in Parkwood?

"Upper Parkwood"

Moved from Sydney, after researching Helensvale, Arundel and Ashmore, I choose to buy a property in Parkwood. I live in the upper parkwood area closer to the Griffith Uni and the new East Parkwood Tram Station.

I would say I made a good choice, its pretty sailent area and peaceful area. Recommend this suburb as highly rated

"Parkwood is underrated - great for our young family!"

We have lived in Parkwood for about 10 years and have 2 small children. We live fairly close to the university and hospital, and despite having a few student rental properties near us (who have not caused us any trouble), we still love being here. Our neighbours also include retirees and other families, we have found the suburb to be very quiet and safe and we love living on a big block with heaps of space for our garden, veggie patch, we keep a couple of chickens and have plenty of room for the children to play. And now, we are also easy walking distance to the G:link (Gold Coast tram)! We plan to live here for a long time yet. I think Parkwood is totally underrated! You will get great value for your money if you buy (and live) here.

I love living in Parkwood!! We live away from the university in a quiet neighborhood. We have two children & have lived here for four years. I am not looking to move or sell. 15 mins from southport & the beach. Close to the hospital & transport.

"Once posh now gosh Parkwood"

Been in Parkwood 11 years & watched it turn into the Labrador toilet overflow I actually can't wait to get out before it turns into an Inala like suburb. Kids are left to run riot causing through peoples yards all over the street, traffic problems.

Now not to mention the hoons speeding round destroying what ever they can. We have hoon central on our street where they meet at the local mechanics HOME shop then they roar up & down the street round the suburb to late night early morning.

Drug dealers, makers & users leave needles out laying on the streets when the cook the batches of drugs it stinks & the smell hangs round for days gets stuck in your clothes etc. AT least your know you're safe once a year the police patrol annually in the beginning of March. Neighbours usually cause all sorts of problems either by being stuck up or attack you for no reason.

There are pockets of good areas in Parkwood you just sometimes have to look harder to find them. From what I've seen the area I live in is not reflective of the overall suburb but pockets within cause a bad rep for the rest.

Despite claims to the contrary most areas of Parkwood take at least 15-30 minutes to get to the beach depending on traffic.

Great for

  • Sometimes quite & peaceful
  • Hoons often keep you entertained
  • Usually get a good amount of rain

Not great for

  • At times unsafe neigbourhood street urchins
  • Hoons everywhere mostly Fri Sat & night b4 & on public Hols
  • The pollution from industry & fireplaces is bad

I have NO idea where in parkwood you live! I have lived here 12 years and love it! such a friendly street, yes the streets where the uni students park are mainly dirty rentals. But the rest is beautiful!

"Fantastic for family life"

Parkwood boasts a broad spectrum of homes from two bedroom townhouses, to multi level golf course mansions, to vast acreage residences, and all are some of the best value homes on the entire Gold Coast.

The Parkwood/Arundel region offers literally everything in quality lifestyle you could want from its world class international golf courses, secure estate living, immense public facilities like parks, BBQ areas, walking and cycling trails. Areas vary considerably from the treed bushland settings through to the paved street of Mediterranean style mansions.

Five major shopping centres including the Harbour Town Shopping Centre and Westfields Helensvale are all within 10 minutes drive. Griffith University, local schools including AB Paterson College and kindergarten cover education. Local churches, sporting facilities and so much more right on your doorstep dictates a region experiencing incredible growth and with so much more on town planning drawing boards, things are only getting bigger and better.
