"Coonans Hill - Pascoe Vale South"

Family moved to Coonans Hill area early last year .... best decision we ever made . After living in both the outer Eastern suburbs and the City we have found the perfect balance for our family.
All we have to do is just stroll up our street to get these wonderful views of Melbourne city .....and it's only a short walk to the new extended route 58 tram... We wanted a family friendly area that was safe but close to the city. I catch the 58 tram to the city for work, easy.... no stress!!!! ...plenty of trams ...no bumper to bumper traffic ... kids catch the bus to their various schools. They love it .... shopping is nearby with new shopping precinct and have all other amenities nearby... a hidden gem ....heaps of parkland nearby as well ...nothing like walking the kids to the park, hearing the birds, and smelling freshly cut grass yet being so close to Melbourne city....a mere 9 Klms away ...or taking them of to the Zoo.
Its a very tightly held area so obviously people enjoy living here. We did our own Reno that makes it unique it was a great bonding experience for our growing family. Neighbors are all friendly and were very welcoming ...always there if you need a hand .. the old timers tell me Coonans Hill has always been known as the Toorak of the north ... all we know is we just love living in this precious pocket (Coonans Hill) of Pascoe Vale South.

"Great family location with inner city convenience"

Broad in size and architecturally diverse, Pascoe Vale South borders Coburg to the east and is considered a ‘northern’ suburb, yet with Essendon and Strathmore to the west, there are also very strong links to the ‘north-west’ suburbs of Moonee Valley. Pascoe Vale South has a number of outstanding residential pockets that give the area its unique flavour including the popular Coonans Hill area – offering superb views and dominated by inter-war (1930s) homes, the Gallipoli Parade precinct – a 1920s development for returned service men (hence the street names of famous AIF campaigns), and the more recent Peppercorn Estate developed in the 1990s. With most of the suburb being within the Strathmore Secondary School zone, Pascoe Vale South has become an incredibly popular choice for families. Adding to its family-friendly persona, there are also a number of other fine local schools, plenty of reserves and parkland – particularly along the Moonee Ponds Creek, public transport options, local shops and convenient freeway access.

"Very convenient"

This suburb is in a great location. It's just over 10 minutes from the airport and over 10 minutes from the city via Citylink. It's surrounded by great schools, is close to Melbourne Uni and both John Fawkner hospital and Royal Children / Women hospitals. Pascoe Vale South in particular is just next door to Moonee Ponds which has great restaurants and lively shops, not to mention a fantastic library. The Moonee Ponds creek also has a lovely bike path and great walking track along Pascoe Vale South. This suburb is a hidden gem being discovered by more and more people.

correct its not a place for someone without a car as walking wise there is limited shopping.
HOWEVER the benefit is a place thats safer and not noisey!

nbeez

Another problem with the area is all the dual occupancies.....ruined things, too busy, hard to park outside you own home in some places......

If you live near the 58 tram it's great !!! Takes you from Bell street to the leafy elite suburb of Toorak - passing shops, the zoo, royal park and golf, hockey centers, through the city, then into leafy St Kilda Rd where you can disembark and tram almost anywhere or just stay on the tram into Toorak ... past some of Melbournes most elite schools, and many fantastic restaurants, cafes and interesting places along the route. Cant think of a better tram route .,.,or more convenient place than Pascoe Vale South ......so safe .... family friendly..,,,,and so close to the city .... Luv it
