"Payneham South"

Have always wanted to live somewhere close to nature and the city when we moved to Adelaide from Melbourne.

Finally found it in Payneham South! 5 mins to the River Torrens (Hamilton Park Reserve) where I go for my jogs, 15 mins to the city by car/ bus during week days, 10 mins to Hazelwood park (kids playground), 5 mins to the Parade (Norwood) - this place has everything anyone can ask for - schools , parklands, proximity to the city.

Great for

  • Close to city (only 10 bus stops , 6km)
  • Close to shopping (The Parade, Firle Shopping, etc), schools, parks etc
  • Safe and quiet (Private) leafy suburb

Not great for

  • Main road (Portrush Road) can be busy during peak hour traffic - Bus is fine

"A very convenient spot near the CBD"

Situated to the east of Adelaide, Payneham is a 15 minute drive from the heart of the CBD. There are frequent buses along Payneham Road, so you can be in the city in no time.

The suburb offers a range of different homes. There are some grand old homes with large gardens. A number of modern townhouses and courtyard homes have popped up in recent years. There are also a number of older cottages or houses, some in need of renovation, that offer cheap rental accommodation close to the city of Adelaide. Payneham has a diverse population as a result, including families, professional couples, retirees and students.

The suburb has a lot of shops and facilities. The Avenues is an excellent supermarket situated between Payneham and Magill Roads, and there are a number of shops, cafes and fast food shops on the intersection with Portrush Road, as well as a good sports complex, including a Fitness First gym.

It is an excellent spot to be based, whether you are looking for a convenient spot near the city or a friendly suburb to raise your kids or retire.
