Reviews of Penrose Street, Lane Cove
"A suburb of contrasts"
It surprising how diverse the population is for Lane Cove. You have the professional singles, elderly retirees, couples and families. To me it makes for a nice balance. Probably the worst thing is the traffic. Parking has improved due to woollies car park. The best thing about Penrose street is the Figtree shops. You have a newsagent, butcher, grocer, vet, pet shop, pet groomer, liquor, milk bar and cafe all a easy walk from home. Some elderly people can be rude but most are fine. Night life is not a problem as it is close to the city. Local amenities such as Longy pub and club are nice drinking venues. Local restaurants such as the new French, sushi train, unwined bar and many others make a night out locally relaxing and fun. If you teeny or in your twenties well may not be hip enough. I love the fact we can safely go out on a Thursday or Friday have a nice meal, drink and walk home. It is sad to see lots of the old houses being demolished for McMansions and I hope the demographics stay balanced. I think suburb goes down hill if only meets the needs of one group whether that is families, retirees or young singles. Expensive real estate but anywhere is in Sydney. Been living here for over 6 years.
