Reviews of Pittwater Rd, Brookvale

"A busy hub - Not a great place to live."

This is essentially a very busy thoroughfare, and from my perspective a necessary route both through, and from, fairer climes.

What can I say, other than what a dreary and depressing road? It’s a shame that a location, that in many ways is the commercial heart of a much larger area, has never undergone any beautification process and has remained predominantly the same for many years. That is, unattractively so.

Unfortunately, it’s not helped by the few side street brothels, and the particularly conspicuous street frontage of the local Centrelink office – a depressing place in itself.

There are sandwich shops, some clothing shops, an art store, recruitment consultants and numerous small businesses. Further down the road to the south lays the massive shopping complex - Warringah Mall - great for an afternoon of shopping (and getting lost), and closer to Centrelink, a few metres on the other side of Pittwater Road, is The Brookvale Hotel, which proclaims itself ‘The Northern Beaches Most Stylish Meeting Place’, a futile claim, I fear.

As unattractive as the locale is – it encompasses many necessary community facilities and resources, and so it serves an important purpose.

I’m not aware whether anyone lives in shop-top housing or similar, along this particular stretch of the long Pittwater Rd, but if so, I can’t imagine such an existence, and I hope they have a balcony facing to the rear.
