Is Port Melbourne overpriced!

I'd prefer Port Mlebourne myself as Docklands to me feels a bit souless and dead. Port seems to have more of a community feel about it and is not totally full of high-rise apartments that all seem the same. It's got character! A mixture of old and new, heritage and modern places. Lots of restaurants, pubs, shops, the beach etc etc.

I totally agree with Vicpow. I was looking for a place down in Docklands, and I changed my mind after visiting there a few times, mostly because of the wind and the "souless" feel to it. Also it isn't really established, and I much prefer Port Melbourne.

Overpriced compared to what? I don't think it is at all. It's hard to find a comparable suburb in Melbourne that has what Port Melbourne offers. Brighton is similar, but has more of a familiy feel to it, and itsn't as close to the city. Middle Park is nice, but again doenst have the social lifestyle that Port Melbourne offers.

Personally, I think it all comes down to lifestyle. Port Melbourne offers unique Melbourne living, that docklands is trying to copy...miserably.

Thanks guys. When I say overpriced I meant they can keep adding apartment towers whereas when you buy a house in suburbia they cant build new land. Its the apartment vs house argument. Think I'll do some more research, good to know I can talk to some locals!

Well they are always building apartment complex's in Port Melbourne, and that will eventually affect house\apartment prices because it will oversaturate the area, making living cheaper...but I can't see this happening any time soon. Obviously there is still demand for it though. I just hope it doesn't become stupidly crowded down there.

hello. do you hve any idea how much is strata for a low rise apartment at portmelbourne? or it depends on property sozw or numbers of bed rooms? amd council rates?
