"Beachside Living with Charm"

Some of the best beaches in Tasmania for swimming and beach combing. I spent many years here growing up and spending hours and hours on the safe beaches and 'hanging out' at the old Jetty. The jetty might now be a floating pontoon, but muddy creek hasn't changed a bit - there is still old school charm to be found in Port Sorell
The walking/bike tracks from Hawley to Port Sorell are flat and easy going and are awesome for families or a Sunday stroll.
With the Woolworths shopping complex and an IGA in the village centre at Shearwater along with a heap of other stores and some great cafes in the area this beachside neighbourhood really does have it all. With a mix of old and new and some land to build on, you can create a great lifestyle here.
There is a Primary School and buses for the local High Schools, making Port Sorell a great place for families, I loved growing up here.

Looking for a home in Port Sorell?

"Beautiful to live, impossible to afford...."

The local environs of Shearwater, Port Sorell and Hawley Beach are amongst the most beautiful in Tasmania, if not in Australia. A wonderful place to live, to raise kids, to be a part of a community. Unfortunately, if you are planning on renting in these areas, be prepared to pay big bucks. The majority of rental properties on the market currently sit in the high two hundreds and mostly mid to high three hundreds per week. Until the property owners figure out that it is much better to have a great tenant in their house at a lower rate than to have a higher rate but a vacant house, the prices will continue to force out hard working, but not so high earning, renters. The real estates need to let the owners know of the many wonderful tenants they have on their books who quite simply cannot afford the prices they are charging per week - but then of course their fees would suffer! Unfortunately the prices have, after over 10 years living and renting here, forced me to move away to the less desirable, but much more affordable Devonport area.
