Reviews of Putney, NSW

"Overall nice and friendly place but some concerns"

Lived here for 18 months. Was in a place only 5 minutes walk to the Kissing Point Ferry Wharf and on the 507 bus route to the city. Convenient Village shops. Good for Coffee, Breakfast and some groceries at the IGA. The paths along the river and around the suburb are great for walks. Only concern was that on 2 separate occasions our cars were ransacked by thieves overnight while parked in our driveway. Can only assume there are people that walk these streets checking for open cars and take whatever they can get their hands on.

"Fantastic small suburb"

My family have lived in PUTNEY for six years. It is a fantastic waterside suburb, with plenty of green spaces, parks, walkways and sports fields.
It has excellent public transport with Kissing Point Ferry terminal, Mortlake Ferry, Meadowbank Train Station and bus services, and it’s only 10kms from Sydney CBD. It is also central to Paramatta, Macquarie shopping Mall as well as Rhodes, Top Ryde and West Ryde shopping centres. Sydney Olympic Park is also close by, making it a very well positioned suburb for commuting to/from. PUTNEY shopping Village has a number of cafes and restaurants and a friendly village vibe, and is very safe and quiet. Homes are generally substantial and on large sections, with low density housing. There has been significant gentrification of the suburb during the time we have live here with original workers cottages making way for new builds. The suburb graduates upwards from the river bank to the the top of the ridge that Morrison Road runs along providing some spectacular views. There are also some good primary and secondary schools close by, as well as the Meadowbank TAFE and Macquarie University within easy commute. A great place to live.

"Riverside Suburb"

Putney is located within 10-15kms from Sydney CBD. Situated in the middle of Ryde and Homebush many of the Streets within the suburb benefit from park and/or water views. The suburb is very popular among families and many of the older homes have been knocked down and re built. Many benefit from large size blocks and many sit elevated with high side positioning allowing for fantastic City views. Transport is fantastic and the residents are friendly ranging from families, professionals and retirees. The suburb has done very well with capital growth over the years. I have never lived in Putney though I did purchase an investment property many years ago in the suburb. Close family live in the suburb and they love it!

"Putney"

I have moved to Putney a couple of years ago and loving it ever since. It is a quiet and peaceful suburb and is close to major shopping centres like Rhodes and Top Ryde. Further out are places like Chatswood and Strathfield so it is quite convenient and 'central' in a way. There are nice parks everywhere as they are mostly along the Parramatta river and people are really friendly. Transport to the city are the river cats and buses. The fact that it does not have a train station so it may not easy to get to certain places unless you are a driver, however not I would care much because being in a quiet/peaceful suburb far outweighs the convenience factor for many reasons.

"The greatest suburb!"

We have lived in Putney for 4 years and absolutely love it! Putney is great for singles, couples and families - bascially everyone. It has a lovely country/village atmosphere - you can buy a bunch of flowers and leave your money. It has a fabulous cafe - the coffee is perfect and the food will rival any inner city cafe.

The downside is traffic. Drivers are avoiding Victoria Road (speed camera at Holy Cross College) by diverting to Morrison Road
