Looking for a home in Richmond?

""Underrated""

Lived in Richmond for 60 years and thus-far I have never had a serious social incident. My parents raised 10 children at 17 Shaw Ave Richmond and we all have extremely good memories growing up in Richmond. I continue to Live in Richmond with my wife and we raised three sons there. One of my sons chose to live close by to us in Richmond and he has three very young children. We are 6 minute drive to West Beach, 10 minute drive to the Bay (Glenelg) or Henley Square, and 6 minute drive to the City, central Market etc. The Airport is a two minute trip and Henley Beach Road restaurants and Hotels are minutes away. We have good public transport around us (however we rarely need use this). We are close to local public and private schools, we feel we have it all. We purchased our property in 1979 for a bargain and over the years have invested in other properties for good gains. Richmond is very undervalued inner City Suburb that I am reluctant to move away from.

"Unsure"

Initially I loved richmond, It was full of other student and friendly neighbours. However i found that living so close to a SANFL club we had to deal with rowdy patrons every weekend and large amount of noise from the club itself. Parking was never available in our street on game days, and people were constantly parking in our drive and going to games. My particular street also attracts a lot of goons on weekend especially during football season. I also feel very unsafe in the area, due to being indecently assaulted and constantly being approached by men asking inappropriate and sexual questions when i walk top the nearby bus stops, i have felt with this by constantly using a personal car to avoid being approched.Richmond is a beautiful suburb and fantastic properties and block sizes. It's close to the city and has fantastic local shopping and all my friend living in the area love it, my experience have just made me uneasy living in this neighbourhood

Great for

  • Close to city & beach
  • Generous sized blocks
  • Ample off street car parking
  • City Fringe

Not great for

  • Expensive
  • Nosy
  • Traffic

Completely agree, we just bought our first house in Richmond, we are bang in the middle of your professionals age bracket at 28 and 29 years old. The suburb is on the way up - being right under West Torrens Council's nose has to be a plus.

"Undiscovered and brilliant value"

Undiscovered. 3km away from Victoria Square, 3 kms from West Beach, 1.5 km from Airport (not in the flight path), large blocks with old homes and sandy loam soil. Get in early while the houses are relatively cheap and enjoy the very central and convenient location.
