"Location, Location, Location"

The infrastructure around Ringwood is fantastic. Whatever you need for a community you can find here within a 10 minute radius. Schools, library, every shop you could ever dream of, bars, cinema's, and all genre's of cuisine. Dining varieties range from casual take away to the fantastic Firehouse Restaurant. Enjoy casual Sundays at any of the massive Ringwood Lake Park or a quiet stroll in the Heatherdale Reserve. Why not try your hand at lawn bowls, or if the kids are into sport there are venue's to cater and teams to join.

If you want a day by the sea, hop on Eastlink to Frankston - 35min trip or hit the city in 30mins. I was concerned about safety prior to moving here, but 5 years on I have not encountered anything sinister. In saying that I don't head near the Ringwood station at night. Heatherdale is a safer option.

"Everything at Your Fingertips"

Ringwood really has everything that you ever need. Eastland has almost every major retail giant, plus high end fashion outlets as well as the more budget friendly shops, fresh food market, beauty retailers, entertainment (movies, bowling etc), fast food & restaurants. Easy access to public transport from anywhere with the train station in the heart of Ringwood as well as buses to any area of Melbourne, there is also usually a taxi or two waiting near the station if you need to get somewhere quickly. Access to the Eastern Freeway and Eastlink is easy, which will take you out to the Mornington Peninsula or Monash freeway within minutes. Plenty of good schools around to choose from, as there are many young families in the area. There’s even a few nightclubs for those that like the nightlife. I have grown up in the Eastern suburbs, and will never move anywhere else, Ringwood has it all!!

"Lots of great things here"

Great suburb: access to every shop you need (it's like a mini city these days), excellent infrastructure to everywhere-30mins to the dandenongs and CBD etc, lovely bushy feel. Everyone is friendly and the place is very safe.
Cons: many of the houses are old and need to be updated.

"Ringwood- A growing locale on the map"

It is not surprising to see why Ringwood is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Eastern Melbourne. It is home to an array of Shopping Centres, especially the popular Eastland Shopping Centre. It offers a variety of eateries and a wonderful entertainment precinct. It has a lovely modern library adjacent and the convenience of the Ringwood Railway Station. Ringwood offers well-integrated sports facilities and clubs such as the Aquatic and Leisure Centre- Aquanation. Other attraction is the Crocs Playcentre with activities for children of all ages. Ringwood is also home to several reserves. Popularly is the Ringwood Lake which joins the Mullum Mullum Creek trail which is great for bike rides and walking trails. There is also a wide choice of schools in the area. Most commonly are the Ringwood Secondary College, Aquinas College and Yarra Valley Grammar. Ringwood is only 23km east of the city and has easy access to the Eastlink.

"Great infrastructure"

Having grown up in Ringwood North, I have personally seen the changes and development within the City of Maroondah.

Ringwood , Ringwood North and Ringwood East now have great infrastructure and have seen some great capital gains in the real estate sector. Ringwood central in particular have had many redevelopments and rezoning for high density developments.

Surrounded by great schools, (public and private), the redevelopment of Eastland shopping centre and the opening of the Eastlink freeway has made the City of Maroondah a satellite city!

Eastland shopping centre is modern, big and filled with great retail stores, restaurants and cafes!

Easy access to the Eastlink with 35mins into the CBD or the other way within 70 mins to Mornington Peninsula.

Ringwood and surrounding suburbs are now multicultural and affluent.

"Gone are the days of being known as scummy - Ringwood is amazing!"

The Ringwood property market is absolutely booming and for good reason! With the upgrade to Eastland Shopping Centre (which is amazing!!), Train station and Olympic diving centre, it has become very popular with young families/investors trying to get into the market.

The small pocket in-between Eastlink and Whitehorse Road is quickly being development with lots of apartment and townhouses being built. This part of Ringwood is popular with tenants due to a short walk to Eastland and the train station. Rental return is decent due to location, but due to amount being built competition can be fierce (overall leasing it will be ok for the right price).

Other parts of Ringwood offer quiet streets with big blocks (a lot of older houses), but still offer families and first-time buyers the chance to get into a great up and coming area.

Great things are happening to Ringwood and I see it becoming the next big place to be in Melbourne's South East.

As a local Property Manager I've leased dozens of properties in the Ringwood area and know the rental market well.

"Has everything you need"

I've lived here since 2007 and love it. Everything is within walking distance and so convenient. Ringwood is also improving due to the upgrade of Eastland, the station and Aquanation all finally underway. I work in Docklands (a suburb I dislike) so it's really nice to come home to a place with quiet, tree-lined streets...it's like a haven.

"All Roads Lead to Ringwood!"

Ringwood, a leafy eastern suburb approximately 25km from Melbourne’s Central Business District is the commercial transport and civic hub for outer eastern Melbourne. Now benefitting enormously from the arrival of Eastlink (July 2008), Ringwood really began to take shape in the 1880s when the railway line was extended from Camberwell through Ringwood to Lilydale and Ferntree Gully.

Ringwood became the junction of those railway lines and together with the road north to Warrandyte and south to Dandenong, soon became the natural centre for commerce, markets and social activity in the district.

Due to Ringwood’s heritage it is able to offer a wide range of housing styles from 1895 workers cottages along Wantirna Road, to period homes and traditional post-war weatherboards, villa units and brick veneer homes. The diversity of housing styles together with access to quality government, independent and church schools has ensured that Ringwood has been a desirable location for families to reside, as well as singles and retirees alike.

"Close to everything!"

I have lived here for 5 years and thoroughly enjoy being so close to everything: public transport, schools, parks, sporting clubs, Eastlink, medical facilities, swimming pools etc. I used to live in Wonga Park and had to drive to get to everything, but now I can walk... a much healthier lifestyle.

"Much overlooked"

Ringwood really does have it all. Fantastic shopping for all tastes, from Eastland to small strip malls. Great parks and recreation areas. Beautiful leafy streets and quiet neighbourhoods. Now with Eastlink, the city is less than 30 minutes away off peak, and otherwise the train only takes 45 minutes.

A great place for families, couples and those after a chance to escape the madness of the inner city.

"Large shopping hub"

Set for major redevelopment this year, Ringwood is a large suburb with a population of over 15,000 people. Based over 20km east of Melbourne’s city centre, Ringwood is home to a Cadbury production factory, ConnectEast and the Eastland Shopping Centre. It sits alongside the Maroondah Highway and Eastlink and borders towns such as Donvale, Mitcham, Vermont, Wantirna, Heathmont, Croydon, Ringwood North and Ringwood East. Properties in this area sell for an average of around $310,000 and the area would be suited to families or retirees.

Lauren's comment that "Properties in this area sell for an average of around $310,000" is ridiculous! Are you referring to just the land? The average price of a home in this area is $540,000 - $580,000 and that's an average, many sell closer to $650,000.

"East Of Eden"

Ringwood is an anomoly really. A shopping destination well-serviced by trains, buses and roads, yet so close to peaceful leafy parks and reserves. Take Ringwood Lake for example. It is an idyllic picnic spot favoured by parents with young children yet it is just a short walk from Eastland and Ringwood train station. Then you have Mullum Mullum creek walk, the Loughnan's Hill precinct and Jubilee Park sporting reserve. That's the other 'best bit' of Ringwood. The sport! From football and cricket to Pony Club, Ringwood has the lot! The schools are some of Melbourne's finest and industry has its home here too - think Cadbury Schweppes and Seymour Street. Real estate in Ringwood is varied. From modern high-density living in New St and Bond St to large leafy blocks in Ringwood North and East. Families young and old favour Ringwood for its family atmosphere and proximity to the other suburbs thanks to EastLink.

Fantastic review! How has the real estate market been holding up in Ringwood? It does sound like a relaxing place to live, not so far from the city anymore with the Eastlink extension to the city.

Thank you. Yes Ringwood has been identified by the State government as a transit city in Melbourne. And there are more exciting plans for Ringwood including an overhaul of the Eastland shopping centre block - think fine al fresco dining, a beautiful spot to meet friends and a charming walkway from the train station to Eastland...
As for the real estate market, a quick whip around of the agents in the Ringwood office revealed excitement and optimism about the current market. Some may look at a glass half empty, but our agents see the possibilities for vendors and buyers in any market including this one.
