Reviews of Rippleside, VIC

"Bayside gem"

Rippleside is a Small suburb full of little period homes sandwiched between the bay and Melbourne road.
It is an extremely friendly and safe neighbourhood made up mostly of young families.
It really is a great place to live. You have Rippleside Park that consists of one of Geelongs best playgrounds, Rippleside beach, Ripples cafe and a floating marina. Then there is the locals favourite being St Helens, it really is a sight to see and has a great swim pier for the kids in Summer.
Rippleside is a short walk into the waterfront and cbd of Geelong along the esplanade. And for everyday needs you have Geelong West being even closer.
For Melbourne commuters like myself the North Geelong train station is a 5 minute walk, being on the other side of the highway. Trains run every 20 minutes during peak services and most trips are 1 hour. Torquay is also only 20 minutes drive away.
Houses in Rippleside have always been highly sought and held. You are lucky to see 10 houses go up for sale each year. If you move here you won’t want to leave.
Houses here are mainly period homes. Some unlisted homes are being knocked down and big modern homes are being built. Along with a $100 million waterfront complex also being built. Houses here are cheaper than Melbourne but higher priced for the Geelong region. Realestate.com states the median house price is around 650-700k. This may buy you a house to renovate. A renovated home will cost you around 800-900k. Houses on the bay have gone for as much as $2.8 million. 3 bedroom townhouses at the balmoral quay development will cost you 1.1-1.6 mil.
The prices are high but the capital growth is also high.
For families, there are good daycares within a 5 minute drive and Geelong West kinder is fantastic. For primary school most kids here go to St pats, Newtown and Ashby all being great schools and close by. Popular high schools for Rippleside kids are Kardinia, St Joeys, Clonard and Geelong High.
Would highly recommend moving to Rippleside, especially for young families.
