Be very weary of reviews here that are written by real estate agents and their friends. I’ve lived in the suburb for over 10 years.
Yes people say hello to each other because this is your typical upper middle class setting but apart from the obvious window showing the community feel is superficial and transactional. It’s an older neighbourhood with very much a feeling of white entitlement. Very different from other suburbs of Sydney that I’ve lived in. A positive is that the place is safe (lots of elderly people living at home with their ear to the ground and their eyes out the front window quivering with fear at the sight of ‘ new Australians’ ), it’s boring and the commercial area although improved is still way behind in its offerings compared to the inner west and eastern suburbs. There’s nothing ‘hip’ about Roseville , in fact be prepared to be surrounded by conservative , slightly neurodivergent corporate types. If this is your cup of tea then the place is for you.
And don’t be fooled about the local schools. My kids went to both public and private schools in the North Shore and immensely disliked the entitled spilt brats that came from homes with no boundaries or homes where their entitlement was impressed upon them. Never seen so many children with behavioural problems and clueless parents.
Needless to say I couldn’t wait to get out.

Awesome suburb- all the benefits of chatswood and lindfield - the dining, the shopping, the groceries without the busy-ness and a more personal touch. Lived here a few years and a real sense of community with friendly and well mannered people saying hello in the streets that were era of bygone communities - people seem to care which are lacking in more bigger transitional suburbs. Variety of scenery- Lots of walking tracks, water, bush, impressive big Victorian manors, federation, Californian bungalows, parks with people playing tennis and socialising. My children delight in the nature and birdlife they see. It’s so peaceful, it feels like we are in the middle of a tropical paradise listening to bird calls and breathing in the fresh air, yet, when I head towards the pacific highway, I am reminded that I have the newly upgraded Roseville station, and the convenience of Chatswood at the tips of my fingertips.I feel blessed living here, especially during lockdown.

I have been living in Roseville for 4 years now and never think to move out from this suburb. Our neighbours are lovely and the upgrade at Roseville train station is being delivered and fully accessible.
Roseville is located in a desirable position which provides peace and quiet without sacrificing distance from Sydney CBD and has a massive shopping in Chatswood.

My advice to anyone wanting to live in a particular suburb is spend some time in it first. Go to the commercial area, walk around the streets and get a feel for the place. This suburb is full of elderly people and working families. You'll find the families are double income mums and dads, kids are highly scheduled and the only time you may ever see your neighbours is in a time of pandemic or Halloween. You should do your research on the typical demographic here and the types of working people you will find. The disparity in your occupation and ethnicity may lead to being ignored/excluded.

I have been living in here for 3+ years and I feel very comfortable and safe. Its a great suburb for those with young family, great school and easy access to malls, restaurants and shopping in Chatwood. Property is expensive though like other suburbs in lower Northshore.

I have been living in Roseville for 3 years and I found this place is very convenient and safe.
Neighbours are friendly, the location is not far from the city and also short distance to Chatswood for shopping.

Roseville is one of the North Shores leading suburbs. It has access to great schools, shops, transport and is also close to the City and Chatswood facilities. I believe it has some of Sydney`s nicest houses and units. If you are looking for a friendly suburb Roseville is certainly one to check out.

A very insipid existence if you're use to good food, night life, loads of cultural activities that does not involve movie watching. Many retirees and aspirational young families here to enjoy the safety , schools and capital growth. There'd be a couple of good restaurants if you're willing to pay a lot of money for average food and coffee. I don't find most of the vendors on the commercial strips either side of the Pacific Highway that friendly , in fact they tend to pander to a certain demography.

I moved here 5 years ago and have yet to make a genuine friend inspite of many attempts. Many people pay lip service but I find the more you look the part the friendlier they are to you.

The Pacific Highway is getting worse every year with traffic and turning right to get into Clanville rd if you're going north or turning left to get into Mc Laurin parade going south can be like playing Ryssian Roulette most afternoons. Some appartments have been built around the southern end of the suburb causing more traffic but of course nothing has been done to improve the roads, added congestion and traffic lights etc.

The biggest plus in the area are the schools and safety. It's very safe to walk around by yourself at most times of the day and night. Also due to the proximity to Chatswood, it's a popular and in demand suburb hence property capital growth is good. Must be something in the ROI as there are many young finance people who buy into the area when they start their families.

The is a very expensive suburb with some lovely homes hence an incredibly aspirational suburb. With it I guess brings a certain type of person and obviously those with values quite different to mine. I may find the place a little dull but I see families here happy to pay a fortune for a small house and block just be in the area so it's a sought after family suburb.

I recently moved to Roseville having bought a unit in the area. It was one of my choices predominantly because of the closeness to Chatswood as a hub, which also has a lot to offer. I have stayed and worked in many parts in Sydney but there is no place in Sydney that matches the community feel (I have the most nicest neighbours) and respect of the people in Roseville.

Its the only place in Sydney where I have found people smile and greet each other while passing on the same sidewalk. Although this has slightly changed recently due to the increase in some of the richer migrants moving from Chatswood (but I am sure they will get in on it too)

I have travelled and walked on some of my more drunken nights from the city and feel the safest on the trains on the north shore line. In addition I have walked from Roseville to Chatswood many times between 10 - 12 to do the late night milk runs at Coles and have never felt unsafe.

In terms of transportation you are quite close to the city, that being said the new timetable has messed up the times a little bit making it slightly congested on the trains.

The council is very particular about its trees and plants, cutting it is a big no no, the streets are super clean, no bottles lying around and I am yet to see a single cigarette butt in Roseville

Roseville is a very neighbourly and friendly suburb that operates at a slightly slower pace than surrounding areas. It's still very quick to get to the city centre though.

Roseville has a couple of strips of shops, one on the west of the highway and one to the east. The one on the east has pretty good eating and a great art deco cinema. The one on the west is on the flat side of the suburb, and has a few more take away places, a grocer, bottle shop and a couple of nice cafes. The shops are good but not as good as Lindfield and much less comprehensive than Chatswood (both a 5 min drive away). We tend to eat in Roseville but shop in Chatswood or Lindfield. It's not the worst thing in the world I suppose that Roseville does not attract a lot of shopper traffic!

The schools in Roseville are good from Roseville kindy on Shirley Road (west side) to Lindfield High or Roseville College.

There are some good parks too - I particularly like getting a coffee in the park on Clanville Road whilst our kids are playing in the playground there.

All in all it works very well for us. We like the peace but we also like the train links into town and appreciate being just 20 mins from the city and the beach.

It's amazing how Roseville is kind of forgotten and never mentioned on the guides. It doesnt have those beautiful houses of Killara, Pymble, and if you're looking around for closeness to train stations, Roseville looks at a glance quite unattractive when compared to the buzzy Chatswood or Lindfield.
Commerce at pacific highway is not fancy, and about 1/2 size of Lindfield. But once you move in the area as I did, you start to discover the friendliness of these local business. The hair dresser, the cafe owner, dry cleaner, and newsagent are all friendly greet you in the morning if you come to them once every week as I do. There's quite a good offer of secondary health services such as chiropractors, massagists, yoga who are never too busy, meaning you can just walk in and with a bit of luck will find a spot after 30 minutes.

Roseville is not like a small town, but it's far more personal then Chatswood or Lindfield.

I moved about 1 1/2 year ago with my wife and no kids. On weekends as I walk by on the street to look at the leafy streets, locals greet me with a smile. The more I discover the suburb the more I like it.

Roseville is an old area of Sydney where homes were built in a time where big gardens were the norm. Many of the grand old homes have been beautifully renovated, with gardens being given a modern day makeover while retaining established plants of the past. Roseville College, a private girls school, takes up some of the suburban area close to the station, and along the Pacific Highway the popular Roseville Cinema provides movies in an older style environment. Roseville has some lovely specialty shops and small restaurants and cafes.
