Crazy drivers,rubbish everywhere, vandalism of parks they even put them on fire no respect to neighbours, parking on nature strips, rowdy parties in garages, mechanics /cars dealing in front yards,houses too close to each other causes for cars to park anyhow..if you can run...keep running from this shit hole

Not a nice suburb to live or visit.

3 month back we move to this suburb from Pascoe vale, we made the choice to buy due to affordable housing… I remember we where quite worried before moving as we didn’t heard good stories but once we moved, we loved it!
Pros:
- Parks feel safe to go out with kids
- kids like the primary school
- All shops are nearby
- Train station is walking distance
- Our neighbours are good as well.

Cons:
- In future kids will go to second school, however they seems not great.

I m surprised that I like this area n can call it home. Have been living here from last 2.5 years. All the daily necessities are close by. Great parks n very family friendly suburb.closw to city n the houses are not ridiculously priced.

You might hear a different story but go around n check the suburbs that are located with in 18-20 km away from city n you don't find much difference to the schools, facilities etc- except for the house price.

Been living here for 10 years, neighbours are scumbags non stop parties no manners no respect for other people drug use etc.this area is covered by hume council they are a disgrace the parks are full of dumped rubbish and unkept grass the streets are narrow and the council sends you a fine if you park half off the road so cars can get through.police are non existent in this area for any crimes other than if they can do a bit of revenue raising.motorbikes ripping through the parks, burnouts at night, people screaming,very uneasy feeling to live here worst mistake of my life buying a house here.be warned stay away.

Great place to live in.
Location is great easy to get to anywhere from here.
Lots of options for roads.
Plenty good schools around the areas.
We have been living here for over 20 years.
Lots of shops around with variety.
Multicultural area.
People are friendly.
Great sporting clubs to join.
15 minutes to the airport.
20 minutes to the city.
Hume high way is just up the road if you want to head to Sydney.
Train station at Roxburgh Park.
Mantello Motor Group is in the area. Selling Hyundai, Holden, Nissan, Kia, Suzuki, LDV, Peugeot.
Great restaurants in the area, Kongs, Dosa Hut, Dosa corner, Tarco Bell, KFC, Mac Donald's, Pizza Hut, Kebab 66, Roxy Kebab, etc.
You will love the area.

Plenty of grocery stores to choose, established schools, close to city & airport with affordable houses

Have family who live here, and whenever I bring my kids here they seem to love it. I also like the distance from the airport, I live a bit too far from Tullamarine airport which may be a bit of a problem lol.

Affordable housing, but not a pleasant suburb.

Roxy is a great area with affordable homes, good shopping, plenty of education and great sporting clubs.

Nice place, open area, a small number of trap houses, good place to get some paper but also do a good turn to. Close to meeting up with my crew and number of others around here around the area, good to bring down opps in the area and good place getting away from the pigs and the can or the cooler. This is a new place I'd like to call our new and greatest neighbourhood to be in. This place is ours. Opps will be taken down.

I moved to Roxburgh Park a few months ago and am surprised by how much I like living here. I was living much closer to the city and I was a bit worried about whether I would have good neighbours and whether I would feel safe. So far so good the neighbours are lovely in my street and I have no regrets.
If you want cafes and nightlife at your doorstep this area is not for you. Most areas of the suburb have a great community feel and its easy to get into the city with the train station so close. Shopping centre has been improved and has everything I need for my weekly shop.

There have been a lot of gushing reviews of roxy plus a couple of extremely negative reviews... to be honest it's somewhere in the middle. It's safer than some suburbs, less safe than others- apparently the latest statistics show it is slightly above the average for crime, but not by much. Like most outer suburbs its dominated by young families so dont expect any cafes bars or proper restaurants, and no high street as such, retail is all in one shopping centre, which has all the usual mass chain retail. There is a new train station, which isn't too far out of the city, which makes the prices in the area very cheap compared to suburbs that take the equivalent time to get the train to the city in the Eastern/South Eastern suburbs or via tram. Most people seem to get around by car tho, and you hardly see any people walking. Housing stock is pretty decent, mostly modest but nice looking houses, townhouses and terrace/row houses. Agree with an earlier poster about people staring tho- like most outer suburbs from what i've seen most other men act fairly conservative and dress/act the same, if you are doing/wearing something different to the rest (and not just talking about hipsters here) expect more attention than you're used to. Overall tho, if you're looking for an affordable place for a family not as far out as woop woop then its pretty good, if you're more worried about lifestyle, heritage buildings, public transport street life or nightlife, probably best to stick to places within 10 km of the city.

For somebody raising a family, its a perfect option:
1) Safe - nobody bothers you unnecessarily.
2) Space - Excellent parklands and open areas - good walking / bike tracks.
3) Affordable - where else you can get a an excellent quality newish home under $350k and still be only 1/2 an hour from city.
4) Facilities - Train station, good everyday shopping facilities, restaurants, gyms, several state / catholic primary & secondary schools.

New shopping centre to be opened before christmas , , this makes it even more fantastic, Best place to raise kids

Much of what is now Roxburgh Park was formerly used as agricultural land and Roxburgh Park was only developed by the Urban Land Corporation in 1992 (not unlike the new towns in green wedges of Britain). The commercial hub of the suburb is located on Somerton Road (highways 35 and 58).

As of 2005 development has progressed, with the construction of more child care centres, a retirement village, an Islamic centre, as well as improvement of roads. The Roxburgh Park railway station opened on 30 September 2007.

Most of Roxburgh Park's fame came with widely screened TV commercials throughout the mid-1990s, presenting Roxburgh Park's avowed virtues as a planned community with a balance of residential, industrial and reserves (part of the Shanklands Reserve is in the south of Roxburgh Park), as well as community services and access to transport. The slogan for the campaign was Roxburgh Park - where dreams come true...

Very nice suburb , peacefull and closer to everything and the house prices are growing very fast here which is very good. Very good schools around too and definitely lesser crime compared to other suburbs I have seen like south morang

I have currently been living in Roxburgh park for almost 3 years, just off the popular hayfield road, I have 3 young children and find the parklands and school playgrounds in the area fantastic and the kids really enjoy going for walks and visiting all the different amenities. Excellent little community based suburb as all my neighbors are very friendly and caring.

Roxburgh park has undergone huge changes over the last couple of years with new roads opening up, very excited about the new road coming from somerton road up to the end of hayfield rd in the greenvale lakes estate which suits me and all living on hayfield road just fine. Hopefully the future proposed freeway exit running from pascoe vale road down to somerton rd gets here soon, it looks like they have commenced that down at the pascoe vale road exit near jacana from all the road works going on.

Talks about a westfield shopping centre looms, will be great for the suburb and will add great value to properties in the area if it was to eventuate

Infrestructure in roxy is greatly improving day by day with more shops opening, new roads being built in and out of the suburb to accommodate surrounding burbs. Highly recommend

Great area to liver in with families with young children as there are ample schooling and childcare.

I've been living in foxy for 6 years. There have been massive changes to the roads becoming dual carriage ways easing traffic in and out. Very quiet place to live and the neighborhood is usually friendly. The only downfall is rosy needs a shopping centre.

I have been living here in Roxy for about 4 months now and feel very much at home in this suburb. Like any other, it has its positives and negatives.

Positives:

Affordability: It is cheaper than Craigieburn and 8km closer to the city. Its mostly Townhouses and houses here. Average price for a 3x3x2 townhouse is about 340,000 and house is 400,000.

Suburb Performance: Roxy was number 10 on top 10 growth suburbs in Melbourne in 3rd quarter 2010 with estimated capital gains of 10 % in that quarter alone!

City access by road: 10 min to tulla, 7 mins to Hume Fwy, 4 min to Hume Fwy, 20 min to Citilink. (I have tried multiple combinations of ride to the city. On Freeway (excluding rush hour) it is about 35 min on average. On through Pasco Vale Rd or Hume Hwy/Sydney Rd, we have been in city in 45 min on average.

Train: Its the second last stop on Metlink's Craigieburn line but unlike Frankston or Belgrave lines, it has much fewer stops and it takes exactly 36 min from Roxburgh Park Station to Flinders.

Parks and Recreation: Roxy is in between city and country so lots of natural beauty all around. Woodland Park, Greenvale Reserviour, 400 acre reserve to name a few. With in Roxy, there are quite a few parks and water bodies.

People: Roxy is not a rich suburb but its not a troubled suburb either. There is a healthy mix of Aussies and Immigrants as well as a large Turkish and Islamic community. Interest from migrants has given the suburb a boost.

Active Council: It falls under city of Hume which is a fairly big city with a very active Council. Local libraries (especially at Broadmeadows) are great, with lots of activities planned all year round.

Negatives:

Entertainment Options:
You basic Safeway, IGA, Chinese Store, Discount Stores, Deli, Bakery, Halal Meat Shop are all there but if you are looking for Cafes and Bars, you should have stopped at Brunswick or Ascot Vale. The fact is, its a typical family with kids suburb so you dont have the night life offered in the 10 km radius.

Major Chains: Roxy is nestled between three big suburbs, Broadmeadows in South, Epping towards the East and Craigieburn to the North. All roughly 8km away. This means that all local Bunnings, K mart, Hoytts etc are also about 8 mins drive.

Safety: It is definitely much safer than Meadow Heights and Broadmeadows, but there have been one or two incidents recently. Then again, these incidents happen in Melbourne CBD also so you be the judge of that one.


Overall, I recommend people in this price bracket to consider Roxy simply because it is affordable, has all the basic facilities, transport links and services in a natural environment with a decent multicultural mix of people.

Close to amenties, such as Safeway, Roxy Hotel and shops, not far to Broady town centre etc. Lots of gyms I notice around.
A few parks around, bit far from my place though as are bike tracks for kids.
A lot of noisy cars-tyres screeching late at night and during the day and too many cars and trucks parked in front of houses, some dumpy cars with overgrown grass parked on nature strips spoil area.
Getting out of the suburb almost makes you car sick just driving out as the roads are shocking, too many turns as not enough main roads.
Traffic is shocking in mornings down pascovale road to barrys rd from 8am-ish and after work. Seems to move better after there.
Don't hear many dogs barking which is great.
I like it but miss where we used to live with a big park next door and quiet.
